Faculty

According to students faculty ratio is good but the faculty to student relationship is not that good some teachers are literally have very orthodoxic mind and some really really talks total blunt with the students. I like the journalism department that faculty is also good the teachers are very friendly and approachable. I don't like department of history as the faculty of history department are very rude very very rude and they are having really very old mind very orthodoxic mind. While teaching they really goes very personal.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is good I really like Siri that's why I choose this course. But for real world application it's a little bit difficult to adjust it with the real world. What are other subject like r additional subject which is SEC, VAC and AECC those are very real applicable. There should be new teachers in the faculty with a good mind set and new mind set.

Campus Life

There are many societies in our college some even I don't know. I was a member of the art society which is Spectra. I had a great time working with the members of that society, they provide chances for everyone involving every member collectively in every occasion. Though funds are provided by the college some amount is also collected as a contribution by all the society members.

Fees and Financial Aid

My college fees for my course was 18000 per year which is for the two semesters. It didn't change nor increased since the time of Admission. It was affordable for me as the fee structure was constant.Though I belong to ST category all my classmates paid the same amount as I did for my course. I didnt receive any scholarship amount as was not aware about it.

Campus Life

college campus is so much good. There is so many societies(clubs) based on many social and different themes. College celebrated, Deepavali, Utsav and many festivals like Oonam, etc. The book issued by college for 15 days and you can rest for another 15 days so there is no time limit for book. Those student who pursue honours courses can issue five books in one time, where is programme pursued student can issue only for book. Activity is very good in my college. There is one basketball Ground, one cricket, ground and large area for all games. Indoor games also provided by college such as carrom, chess, etc. There is so many social group run by student and supported by our 2 faculty member, example environment society who generally do cleanes drive for river yamuna and college.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because i have a keen interest in history . my curriculum prepare me for my future , it develop a thinking way in that way so that i can think in all the ways and direction. it teaches how small impact or method or matter impacted whole future. so your small decisions also played role in what will be your future be. i think there is a great need to improve in teaching method. mainly history is not only limited upto dates and king stories . it is alot from this . it teaches many things which sharp a individual personality. Exam happened twice times in a year and timing for core subject is 3 hours and for value and skill addition subject it is 1/2 hours depending upon subject

Course Curriculum Overview

History is a very comprehensive subject which requires deep knowledge and complete understanding of the past events. According to me this is course perfectly fits in the frame for 'close to perfect' course for History enthusiasts. Having knowledge of History of different areas helps to create a multi polar view of understanding History, which in return helps in higher academic studies.

Faculty

As I mentioned in my likings also that the faculty is very nice and experienced. They are supportive too, providing us with thorough guidance. Course is pretty diversed (which is good), we study ranging from history of India to early social formations infact History of USA also that too in very first year which in turn makes the course more attractive and feasible non monotonous.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is not quite nice actually especially for our batch where they had 20% more allocation. As I said some faculties are nice and some are not so nice but this is something you will find at every place it's not college specific. The reason I don't like some of the faculties is because of their way of teaching and how they can't build and carry my interest in their paper. Exams take place twice a year. You usually have 7 subjects - 3 core papers specific to your degree, GE, SEC,VAC, AEC - changing every semester. I really don't think so anybody fails.

Fees and Financial Aid

Okay as it is a government college. The fees is quite nominal around 12-13k per year. Apart from this fees you just need to pay examination fees per semester which is around 1k. The registration fees while seeking admission is also quite nominal just 200-300. Scholarships are need based like if your family income is less than 1.5-2.5 lakh per year than you can avail those. So it is actually quite affordable. But if you are an outstation student and you don't get hostels than the accomodation and PG charges can be somewhat expensive.

Campus Life

Annual collge fests are held in the month of February. Library provides a huge range of books and a reading room too. Overall experience of campus life is amazing as it helps us to get quality exposure. Classromms have ACs and projectors. Deparmental sports meet is also held. Infrastructure of the college is moderate but is improving. There are various societies which one can join according to interest which gives practical knowledge

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is nice as our class of 70 is divided into two groups of 35 students and one faculty is placed over 35 students. Dr. Dushyant sir is a man of very friendly nature so it feels very easy for students to connect to them. Overall al the faculty members are nice. There are two types of exams internal and external. They both are of moderate nature hence if one studies one can pass them easily

Ques. How much percentage do I need to acquire to get an admission in Lady Brabourne College or Bethune College in Kolkata for History honours?

● Top Answer By Adrita Bose on 28 Dec 21

Ans. It will depend on the cut-off marks as set up by the college. It differs from year to year. If you score above 85 your chances of getting selected in the first round will be easier.  Later it will gradually drop down to 75-80. This will also vary among students of reserved and unreserved categories. Students belonging to reserved categories might require a lower score like 70-75, which can drop down to 60-65, depending on the course and the college’s set cut off.Read more

Ques. Which college should I choose for History (hons) Dyal Singh College or Delhi College of Arts and Commerce?

● Top Answer By Swati Arora, on 25 Nov 21

Ans. It is suggested that you go for Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) rather than Dyal Singh College (DSC). Here are some reasons why: If you want a college with better infrastructure and canteen opt for DSC.  On the other hand DCAC provides excellent Extra-curricular activities, societies, clubs, placements and overall exposure. The faculty of both the colleges are good. DSC is better in B.A subjects but not economics. DCAC has better connectivity. It is near to metro stations on the yellow line and pink line. Whereas DSC is only close to JLN stadium metro station on the violet line. Neither of the two colleges offer hostel facilities.  But it is easier to find accommodation near DCAC than to DSC. Accommodation near DCAC is also affordable. Therefore overall DCAC is a much better choice. But in the end it depends on individual preference. Try visiting both the colleges, explore, talk to the alumni or faculty members, if possible and then take the decision.Read more

Ques. What are the criteria for getting into Presidency University, Kolkata, in History (Hons.)?

● Top Answer By Abhilash Roy on 23 Jun 21

Ans. If Presidency University Kolkata is your dream college then you must have a solid academic record. Your board exam marks matter a lot. But entrance exam scores will be highly emphasized. You will be asked about the recent developments in the field along with the questions related to class 11th and 12th. Go through R.G Collingwood, Ideas of history, and Glean information from graduate-level books like R.S Sharma, Sumit Sarkar, and Shekar Banerjee. Having knowledge of post-modern theories like subaltern, queer theory, and genocide concepts will come in handy. Be up-to-date with all these concepts. Another key factor here is your English language skills. You are supposed to write the paper in English. Be careful of what you write and try to make it as thoughtful and transparent as possible. Try to be on point and avoid making convoluted sentences. If you check all the above-mentioned factors, it's almost certain that you will get into Presidency University Kolkata.Read more
