Course Curriculum Overview

1) i had interest in history from my class 11th. I wanted to further increase my knowledge ane thus accepted my course 2) the course not only prepares u to give exams but actualy leads u to study many papers, books that expands your understanding of the course and also real life challneges where u have to apply it. It also prepares you for further academic pursuits 3) they can opt for more practical learning apart from classroom learning, they can make field trips and let student know about research also 4) the end exams start after 4-5 months of sem start. U are given well enough time to prepare gradually. The assignments, test can make it hectic but if u complete the given work in time, u can prepare well enough for the exams and do well.

Campus Life

Campus Life

My overall experience with campus life at my college has been enriching and diverse, offering a well rounded experience that blends academic rigor with extracurricular engagement. There are many societies in my college and among them I'm also a part of one society which is fife , dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues and women empowerment. And I also joined NCC to develop discipline, leadership skills. And in terms of infrastructure, the college is very beautiful with green spaces and many beautiful things.

Faculty

Well , at my college the faculty- student relationship is generally very supportive and collaborative, though there's still a healthy balance of respect for professional boundaries and one of the faculty members I really admire at my college is professor Dr Rama , he teaches history of usa and what I appreciate most is his ability to explain complex concepts in a way that's both engaging and easy to understand.

Faculty

Well, the faculty student ratio is very well and has a great relationship among them. The marking system is pretty simple here as in a question paper in the section a-we get 5 questions of 2 marks out of which we have to attempt 4. In section b- we have 3-4,6 marks question and at the last section its a compulsory question of either 16 or 20 marks. There is a great faculty named Moumita Chowdhury who treats most of us like her own child and teaches us in a way which makes it easy for us to understand the concepts.

Campus Life

My campus life has been very fun. A Fest is conducted once in a year and it lasts for around 5 days. On the first few days various kinds of sports are played, a cultural is celebrated on the last second day, where all the students dress themselves up with cultural attire, on the last day there is a dj night where some artists are called to perform. Overall my experience in this college has been fun .

Fees and Financial Aid

The admission fee for our college is Rs.700/-per Semester. A sum of Rs.500 is collected as tuition fee/- per Semester. For college development a sum of Rs.800 is paid. Totalling all the fees for extra curricular activities and and others it adds up to Rs.4700 /-per Semester. (The annual cost will be around Rs.9400). Compare to other colleges here in my region, I would say that it is very affordable.

There are several societies like, Dramsoc, Elocution, VAPP, Dhyana, Dancesoc, MUN, WDC and Reach to name a few. The process for getting into one or more of these socities usually involves a written application (a google form with somewhere about 8-10 questions), a group discussion and a personal interview. You can join multiple societies depending on your inclinations and skill-set given the work and academic commitments allow you.

LSR is known to be one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, situated in the national capital, Delhi. Having completed my bachelors, I would say it is for all the right reasons. The college is situated in the prime Lajpat Nagar area, with nearest metro stations being, Moolchand and Kailash Colony. The college boasts its beautiful lawns and well-maintained infrastructure.

Faculty

There a lot of faculty members in our college and everyone is too nice for being hated or being disliked. Even though my favourite is Dharma kumar sir who teaches us panckosha: holistic development of personality. It is so because the level of comfort and joy while he teaches is absolutely wow. And I will say I kinda dislike Miss Ranjana who teaches us Indian and USA history because she narrates so fast that I am not able to match her speed. In a year there are two exams mid sem and final sem. And I would say the course curriculum is quite relevant.

Course Curriculum Overview

Well History has always fascinated me and learning the deep history other than the Mughals was always my wishlist. It's sad that not many people take our course or think it isn't required. If you don't know your history every thing else is meaning less and our course have shown the dark side of Mughals and have glorified our kings. Hence, i just want to them add even more as we need more of it.

Fees and Financial Aid

At Kalindi College or for that matter any college of DU fees is defined by DU. So, you can choose any college and for BA Hons the fees will staybthe same. I paid close to 27k a year. At Kalindi College for students who can't afford the fees, MATA AMRITA NANDA MAYA scholarship is awarded and they don't have to pay a single paisa to study here.

Fees and Financial Aid

I study in Gargi College persuing history hons and my annual fee for the course is 18015 which is comparatively affordable in compare to other private colleges . But for the students belonging to lower family background so I would suggest for some compensation in the fees 10,000 annually would be affordable for everyone specially for the students belonging to lower family background. The college provide welfare fund to the students which is very important for a student studying in college because living in Delhi when you are a outstation student is very costly and unaffordable for many students. And I saw a vast increase in fee structure of gargi College which should be managed looking at the financial condition of majority students studying in college.

Faculty

The faculty of my department history hons is the best , they are literally adorable specially their teaching method which is wonderful where the head's of department the senior's are also very supportive and encouragingly helpful. The main core subject of my department are: History of India History of USA Social formation Where there are 4 additional subjects like GE , SAC , VAC and AEC. I adore deeksha ma'am the hod of history department because she is a gem and her way of teaching is really very appreciatable. And Piyush sir he also teachers very well.

There is almost the good faculty and the faculties is much appreciated as they are helping the students in all sort of ways My most liked faculty is the history faculty and they are the teachers by whom I have been taught and they not only taught about books but also about real life experiences.Exams are the semester and not so difficult as they can be done by doing the previous year question paper and by just paying attention to lecture.

Faculty

The faculty student ratio is decent and our professors are really very cooperative and helps us whenever we needs them. Some of our professors have even have set us free to place call to them at anytime. Their are some professors whom I don't like personally because of their biased opinions to a single political party only and their names are aditi, A.n jha and Sanjay sir. We are only required to appear in mid term exam and final end semester exam and students having practical subject appears in practical examination too. Cours curriculum is very relevant If consider the demand of our modern education system

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college collects fees from its students on yearly basis and my first year fees was 12500/- and the same was charged in the 2nd year too and in the 3rd year it was ?13695/- . no any concession is provided to any category students unless he/she is having scholarship or getting benefitted from any government schemes or policies As I'm pursuing history Hons. So there is no any lab fees and there is only annual fees for every students and in addition to it, we are always required to pay examination fees prior to our semester examinations. Fees of my bachmates are same as that of mine

Faculty

Faculty members depend on the courses , commerce department has the highest faculty members and my faculty , history honours has 15 members According to me I like my faculty, history honours the most as professors are generous, kind hearted and respond to feedbacks The faculty I dislike the most is English department, as they are rude and arrogant and in one SEC subject , Business Communication they failed everyone There are 2 semester exams in a year . They are moderate , neither too easy not too hard . In History hons exam semester exam is of 90Marks . Question paper contains 8Questions out of which you can attempt any 4 Questions in Hindi or English but have to write complete exam in one medium only. Exam can be passed easily as most of the questions comes from Previous years hardly Delhi University changes exam pattern. Most of the students pass but some do fail in 2-3 subjects which they had to clear in their next to next semester

Ques. What are the criteria for getting into Presidency University, Kolkata, in History (Hons.)?

● Top Answer By Abhilash Roy on 23 Jun 21

Ans. If Presidency University Kolkata is your dream college then you must have a solid academic record. Your board exam marks matter a lot. But entrance exam scores will be highly emphasized. You will be asked about the recent developments in the field along with the questions related to class 11th and 12th. Go through R.G Collingwood, Ideas of history, and Glean information from graduate-level books like R.S Sharma, Sumit Sarkar, and Shekar Banerjee. Having knowledge of post-modern theories like subaltern, queer theory, and genocide concepts will come in handy. Be up-to-date with all these concepts. Another key factor here is your English language skills. You are supposed to write the paper in English. Be careful of what you write and try to make it as thoughtful and transparent as possible. Try to be on point and avoid making convoluted sentences. If you check all the above-mentioned factors, it's almost certain that you will get into Presidency University Kolkata.Read more

Ques. Which college should I choose for History (hons) Dyal Singh College or Delhi College of Arts and Commerce?

● Top Answer By Swati Arora, on 25 Nov 21

Ans. It is suggested that you go for Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) rather than Dyal Singh College (DSC). Here are some reasons why: If you want a college with better infrastructure and canteen opt for DSC.  On the other hand DCAC provides excellent Extra-curricular activities, societies, clubs, placements and overall exposure. The faculty of both the colleges are good. DSC is better in B.A subjects but not economics. DCAC has better connectivity. It is near to metro stations on the yellow line and pink line. Whereas DSC is only close to JLN stadium metro station on the violet line. Neither of the two colleges offer hostel facilities.  But it is easier to find accommodation near DCAC than to DSC. Accommodation near DCAC is also affordable. Therefore overall DCAC is a much better choice. But in the end it depends on individual preference. Try visiting both the colleges, explore, talk to the alumni or faculty members, if possible and then take the decision.Read more

Ques. How much percentage do I need to acquire to get an admission in Lady Brabourne College or Bethune College in Kolkata for History honours?

● Top Answer By Adrita Bose on 28 Dec 21

Ans. It will depend on the cut-off marks as set up by the college. It differs from year to year. If you score above 85 your chances of getting selected in the first round will be easier.  Later it will gradually drop down to 75-80. This will also vary among students of reserved and unreserved categories. Students belonging to reserved categories might require a lower score like 70-75, which can drop down to 60-65, depending on the course and the college’s set cut off.Read more
