There is a tremendous ratio between students and professors at hansraj college. A teacher is given the duty to manage and maintain records of about 40 students. One honourable mention for this would be mr saleem, for his momentary contribution to the success of the alumni meet. Except for this, the college exams are done 2 shifts in a year.

Campus Life

There are total 3 blocks: A, B and C. One more block is under construction. The college has a sitting area known as LP and canteen. The college also has food station, amul and nescafe. The library is aesthetic and prettiest one could ever imagine. Various societies to a part of them is a blessing in itself. Enactus is one I'm part of.

I take this subject because I like geography and I want to be a geography. That's why I take this subject. The curriculum is based on real world application as it helped me in future in dealing with environmental problems. There should be an improvement in lab in my college. there is 3 hours of examination in my college.

The history department faculty and student relation is good because the history teacher is too friendly and help in our studies . I like Dr. Mahashraddha yadav mam .she teaches us the rise of modern west .we all love her teaching scales and behavior is too good . There are 7 exams that is 3 are core exams and aec, sec ,vac, and GE . All are moderate not too easy or difficult . There are around 4 to 5 students fails in exams because they didn't submit their assignments and test.

According to students faculty ratio is good but the faculty to student relationship is not that good some teachers are literally have very orthodoxic mind and some really really talks total blunt with the students. I like the journalism department that faculty is also good the teachers are very friendly and approachable. I don't like department of history as the faculty of history department are very rude very very rude and they are having really very old mind very orthodoxic mind. While teaching they really goes very personal.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is good I really like Siri that's why I choose this course. But for real world application it's a little bit difficult to adjust it with the real world. What are other subject like r additional subject which is SEC, VAC and AECC those are very real applicable. There should be new teachers in the faculty with a good mind set and new mind set.

There are many societies in our college some even I don't know. I was a member of the art society which is Spectra. I had a great time working with the members of that society, they provide chances for everyone involving every member collectively in every occasion. Though funds are provided by the college some amount is also collected as a contribution by all the society members.

Fees and Financial Aid

My college fees for my course was 18000 per year which is for the two semesters. It didn't change nor increased since the time of Admission. It was affordable for me as the fee structure was constant.Though I belong to ST category all my classmates paid the same amount as I did for my course. I didnt receive any scholarship amount as was not aware about it.

college campus is so much good. There is so many societies(clubs) based on many social and different themes. College celebrated, Deepavali, Utsav and many festivals like Oonam, etc. The book issued by college for 15 days and you can rest for another 15 days so there is no time limit for book. Those student who pursue honours courses can issue five books in one time, where is programme pursued student can issue only for book. Activity is very good in my college. There is one basketball Ground, one cricket, ground and large area for all games. Indoor games also provided by college such as carrom, chess, etc. There is so many social group run by student and supported by our 2 faculty member, example environment society who generally do cleanes drive for river yamuna and college.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because i have a keen interest in history . my curriculum prepare me for my future , it develop a thinking way in that way so that i can think in all the ways and direction. it teaches how small impact or method or matter impacted whole future. so your small decisions also played role in what will be your future be. i think there is a great need to improve in teaching method. mainly history is not only limited upto dates and king stories . it is alot from this . it teaches many things which sharp a individual personality. Exam happened twice times in a year and timing for core subject is 3 hours and for value and skill addition subject it is 1/2 hours depending upon subject

Course Curriculum Overview

History is a very comprehensive subject which requires deep knowledge and complete understanding of the past events. According to me this is course perfectly fits in the frame for 'close to perfect' course for History enthusiasts. Having knowledge of History of different areas helps to create a multi polar view of understanding History, which in return helps in higher academic studies.

Faculty

As I mentioned in my likings also that the faculty is very nice and experienced. They are supportive too, providing us with thorough guidance. Course is pretty diversed (which is good), we study ranging from history of India to early social formations infact History of USA also that too in very first year which in turn makes the course more attractive and feasible non monotonous.

The professors of my college i.e. Kirori Mal College are very good and friendly, they help the students a lot in their academics, this is good for the students, I like the arts block and science I really liked these two blocks which are well made. I didn't like the Commerce block because I saw it as an addition to the Block Art block, it should be separate. There are 2 semesters in a year, out of which there are 7 papers including theory and practical and there is no separate cut off in the papers, only that which is in the syllabus comes.

Campus Life

Yes, there are many events in my college. In the month of November, many different types of events are organised like NSS Mela. The college library is very good and has a lot of relevant books stored in it, which is a great facility for the students. Class I have AC and fans, lights which are fine, and many other things like LED projector. There is also a sports ground in the college where many activities are conducted and many competitions also take place.

The faculty to students ratio is proportionately good , there are 5 teachers for per section of 35 students. The faculty to student relationship is very good , all the faculty members are very supportive and friendly.one can approach any faculty member at college timings for any kind of discussion. The faculty of history is by far best faculty of the college. Sanjay verma sir is my favourite, he teaches history of modern west in 2nd year and history of modern India in 3rd year. His understanding of the topic is unmatchable and his way to convey his ideas with quite a mix of humour is best, and the presentations of Sanjay verma sir are unique experience in itself . Sahana bhattacharya mam, she is the gem of the professor, she teaches history of china in second year and dse gender in Indian history in 3rd year, she has profound knowledge of her field of study , specially on gender history. Dushyant kumar shah sir, he is like the friend of students, he is very friendly and supportive,he teaches Social formations in 1st year. Vandana mam , she makes the history of modern europe interesting with her stories. Amit suman sir, he is also a royal society fellow, and very knowledgeable and supportive. There are mainly ,internal assessment exams ,which includes assignments and class tests, then there is Continuous assessment, which is based on regular performance and participation of the students in class ,and then there is the final theory exam ,which is subjective exam.

The campus life of Kmc is quite good and memorable, the crowd is good. Kmc has its annual fest called 'Renaissance',in which it invites various celebratirities and singers. Renaissance is generally organised in the month of February. Kmc student union also organises freshers party each year for new students, which is also quite memorable. The library of kmc is one of the best ,and has vast range of books and a knowledge librarian fir assistance. Many classrooms has the facilities of projector and are digital classrooms . Kmc has a big and beautiful sports complex, including football ground, cricket ground, a newly renovated basketball court, a boxing ring ,and volleyball court, badminton court and nets for cricket practice.

Hansraj's annual fest was a boondoggle the previous year as no funds were accumulated or assigned by and to the student body but the year before I joined in,I have heard quite a good things about it. The library is another thing that works wonder. If you are actually into studying,it is quite a boon for you-very well facilitated, top notch quality of infrastructure and plethora of handy books. Classrooms are well equipped with 2 or more air conditioners and fans.It gets a bit chaotic when you are assigned a small classroom but the strength of the class arrives with full capacity, with not enough seating in the rooms to even accomodate everyone, but that is a haley's comet(happens once in every 76 days). Hansraj, this year only rose to NIRF 3 that is apparently a by product of its dominance in extra curricular activities as well as sports. We have our annual inter department fest as well called Khelo Hansraj. There are quite a few number of societies with Hansraj dominating all over India in most of them ECAs,such as hindi debating or QUIZZING.

Course Curriculum Overview

In this era of corrosive politics which believes in the wake of wear and tear, I personally believe the utility of my subject is quite exemplary. The curriculum is not mine or any of my professor's decision. It changes according to the shifts in power. The major focus of history honours' curriculum is just India, henceforth making it a viable option for people preparing for competitive exams, but somewhere, all of us studying the course know that the lack of interdisciplinarity and just focusing on its academic niche ingroups is necessary to be looked upon. Exams happen on a biannual basis calling these phenomenon as the end of one semester, which happens twice in each academic year.

The faculty to student ratio is not quite nice actually especially for our batch where they had 20% more allocation. As I said some faculties are nice and some are not so nice but this is something you will find at every place it's not college specific. The reason I don't like some of the faculties is because of their way of teaching and how they can't build and carry my interest in their paper. Exams take place twice a year. You usually have 7 subjects - 3 core papers specific to your degree, GE, SEC,VAC, AEC - changing every semester. I really don't think so anybody fails.

Fees and Financial Aid

Okay as it is a government college. The fees is quite nominal around 12-13k per year. Apart from this fees you just need to pay examination fees per semester which is around 1k. The registration fees while seeking admission is also quite nominal just 200-300. Scholarships are need based like if your family income is less than 1.5-2.5 lakh per year than you can avail those. So it is actually quite affordable. But if you are an outstation student and you don't get hostels than the accomodation and PG charges can be somewhat expensive.

The ratio of faculty to student is good. The relationship between the student and professor is very nice. The professors teach very nicely and also little bit fun with the student they (professor) treat the student as a friend. He share our life experience tell the student which kind work perform by the student and or not . He also a carrier guide for the us .I like Mr. Sharvan Sharma .He teach me History of India and Social formation .He explained the chapter nicely his behaviour was so polite and treat the student as a friend. Mr.Alok I don't know the full name . I don't like this sir he only interact with those students who sit on the 1 st benches of the row . From the rest of the student he don't interact. His voice was very slow and understand the voice of sir was very hard this was also the one condition of my to hate the sir The examination system of my college based on semester system. Exam held on every 6 month after. The paper was not much hard it you study properly you easily pass the exam and if you little bit make time for students you also clear the exam .I don't know about the ratio of student those who fail in the exam because I am the student of 1 year.I don't know about the ratio but most probably the ratio was higher of the student those who pass the exam rather than the student those who fail in the exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

This year I paid 15630 for my first semester and for the second semester the fee also same . No any extra charges taken from our college except elthe examination form registration. 1310 for rupees of the examination registration form but is not same for the all courses .The fee for examination registration change on the basis of courses and charges increased . Faculty

There are many faculty members in the Department of History at Kirorimal College. currently in my batch, there are 3 teachers teaching 3 different papers- History of India, Social Formations, and History Of USA.The faculty memebers are highly qualified and they teach by giving us multiple facts about particular events and help us understand difficult concepts very easily. Each department for each year is divided mainly in 2 different groups(35 each) in order to improve the student teacher ratio. This helps not only the teacher to know more about the students in the class, but also helps students ask teachers about their doubts or questions with more clarity. The teachers help in clarifying all doubts and questions which students ask, and they also regularly send important study materials in the class groups. For me, Dhiraj Kumar Sir teaches very well the paper on USA. This is because he taught us in a way which helped us understand the topic very easily and he also taught us things beyond the ritten syllabus for a better understanding. There are internal exams held each semester and continuous presentations and assignments. These help students to continuously be well prepared all throughout the semester. If a student concentrates and studies well all round the semester, neither are the internal exams nor the semester exams difficult. Generally all students pass the exams both the internals and externals. In the internal exam system, there are 70 marks involved while in the semester exams there are 90 marks involved.

Campus Life

My college experience is simply amazing as the institute has a great campus and great students. The campus is quite large and has a number of trees and plants. There is a great infrastructure present with large classrooms, buildings, auditoriums and libraries. The college organises fests and cultural festivaals all round the year especially during the winter months when the temperature is quite soothing. A number of events like debates, club activities etc are organised and speakers are invited to give lectures. There are multiple books and journals fund in the library. In the college library has 1.5 lakh books and keeps newspapers and magazines to help students get updated with the daily news at the national and international level, which also help them prepare for civil service examinations. In each classroom there are clean chairs and tables fixed in an organised manner, and in some of them there are projectors which allows students to show their online presentations at the classroom.Multiple sports and extracurricular activities held regularly, and large number of students participate in these. There are not only inter-college matches but also among the departments as well. There are multiple student clubs as well which help students learn multiple skills and help them become more productive. These activities help students build their overall character and help them in the long run.

Campus Life

Annual collge fests are held in the month of February. Library provides a huge range of books and a reading room too. Overall experience of campus life is amazing as it helps us to get quality exposure. Classromms have ACs and projectors. Deparmental sports meet is also held. Infrastructure of the college is moderate but is improving. There are various societies which one can join according to interest which gives practical knowledge

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is nice as our class of 70 is divided into two groups of 35 students and one faculty is placed over 35 students. Dr. Dushyant sir is a man of very friendly nature so it feels very easy for students to connect to them. Overall al the faculty members are nice. There are two types of exams internal and external. They both are of moderate nature hence if one studies one can pass them easily

Campus Life

Campus Life is very much good except the air pollution which has major concern on the health of the students. We have got 4 library cards therefore we can avail 4 books from Library at time . The opportunities for extracurricular activities are too much for example fest occurs from February to April then I have selected as a volunteer in the World Book Fair which will take place in Bharat Mandapam. So there are lots of opportunities in North campus for the personality development of students

Faculty

See I am in second semester, faculty students ratio is very good in core subjects but in other subjects such as GE,VAC,AEC,SEC ratio is not good . Sometimes single professor takes class of 100 students . If we talk about the performance of teachers then they are very good and are easily approachable. If we talk about examination so there are two examinations in each semester one is class test another is final University exam .

Campus Life

My experience of college life is good overall. The teachers and staff are good in their fields. The library is massive offering books in all literature. The classrooms are enrolled with projectors and many student run beneficial societies are active.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure including academical tuition fee and everything is 15815. It is even lesser for the other category students. Many scholarship opportunities are available but since I did not enrol in any I have to pay the listed amount.

Course Curriculum Overview

According to the relevance and comprehensiveness the course would provide us with the solid foundation of world history and Indian history paralelly with human history starting with evolution of humans which strengthens the base of what any historian would build his/her work on. History specifically in the du syllabus is worth enough pursuing for history career.

Faculty

Faculty members are professional as well as rightly aware about the domain subject which gives us an edge to actually learn more out of the syllabus. Faculties are never in a hurry to finish the syllabus and are chill enough to talk to us and even ask our opinions about issues of contemporary relevance. Faculties are young and optimistic about our future

Faculty

The faculties are approachable & like some of my history department faculty because of the level of their experience & their teaching methods which makes the subject very fascinating & insightful. There are 3 Discipline specific course in the 1st & 2nd year including a General elective course, skill enhancement course, Value Added course & language / Environmental studies course (as per semester & course). A total of 7 courses of which 5 have compulsory examination. Exams of SEC & VAC course depend on the nature of those either they are theoretical or practical.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee varies over the years annually, it increases from 12,000 - 16,000. The examination fee also varies according to your selected courses but it's below 1,500. The fees for other categories is lower than the general, for instance for SC / ST being 200-300 rupees lower than the general, for PWD category ?120 & ?2000-3000 for Staff. The college do provide some fee concession & external scholarship like BYPL for Sashakta scholarship for EWS students.

Ques. What are the criteria for getting into Presidency University, Kolkata, in History (Hons.)?

● Top Answer By Abhilash Roy on 23 Jun 21

Ans. If Presidency University Kolkata is your dream college then you must have a solid academic record. Your board exam marks matter a lot. But entrance exam scores will be highly emphasized. You will be asked about the recent developments in the field along with the questions related to class 11th and 12th. Go through R.G Collingwood, Ideas of history, and Glean information from graduate-level books like R.S Sharma, Sumit Sarkar, and Shekar Banerjee. Having knowledge of post-modern theories like subaltern, queer theory, and genocide concepts will come in handy. Be up-to-date with all these concepts. Another key factor here is your English language skills. You are supposed to write the paper in English. Be careful of what you write and try to make it as thoughtful and transparent as possible. Try to be on point and avoid making convoluted sentences. If you check all the above-mentioned factors, it's almost certain that you will get into Presidency University Kolkata.Read more

Ques. Which college should I choose for History (hons) Dyal Singh College or Delhi College of Arts and Commerce?

● Top Answer By Swati Arora, on 25 Nov 21

Ans. It is suggested that you go for Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) rather than Dyal Singh College (DSC). Here are some reasons why: If you want a college with better infrastructure and canteen opt for DSC.  On the other hand DCAC provides excellent Extra-curricular activities, societies, clubs, placements and overall exposure. The faculty of both the colleges are good. DSC is better in B.A subjects but not economics. DCAC has better connectivity. It is near to metro stations on the yellow line and pink line. Whereas DSC is only close to JLN stadium metro station on the violet line. Neither of the two colleges offer hostel facilities.  But it is easier to find accommodation near DCAC than to DSC. Accommodation near DCAC is also affordable. Therefore overall DCAC is a much better choice. But in the end it depends on individual preference. Try visiting both the colleges, explore, talk to the alumni or faculty members, if possible and then take the decision.Read more

Ques. How much percentage do I need to acquire to get an admission in Lady Brabourne College or Bethune College in Kolkata for History honours?

● Top Answer By Adrita Bose on 28 Dec 21

Ans. It will depend on the cut-off marks as set up by the college. It differs from year to year. If you score above 85 your chances of getting selected in the first round will be easier.  Later it will gradually drop down to 75-80. This will also vary among students of reserved and unreserved categories. Students belonging to reserved categories might require a lower score like 70-75, which can drop down to 60-65, depending on the course and the college’s set cut off.Read more
