What Students Say
Likes
- The Infrastructure is quite nice. As they say it's an Aesthetic college and the British Architect did an amazing job.
- The overall space is quite safe for girls and the place is open for discourse.
- Professors are well qualified and knowledgeable.
Dislikes
- It's an only girls' college so you don't have an overall development imo in case of gender interactions.
- While Professors are knowledgeable some can give you a really tough time with their dumb ways of teaching.
Course Curriculum Overview
I just really loved my subject- History, the reason I chose my degree. And curriculum is also quite interesting. I really love some papers and but it doesn't really prepares us for real world applications or further academic pursuits in my opinion.
Fees and Financial Aid
Okay as it is a government college. The fees is quite nominal around 12-13k per year. Apart from this fees you just need to pay examination fees per semester which is around 1k. The registration fees while seeking admission is also quite nominal just 200-300. Scholarships are need based like if your family income is less than 1.5-2.5 lakh per year than you can avail those. So it is actually quite affordable. But if you are an outstation student and you don't get hostels than the accomodation and PG charges can be somewhat expensive.
Campus Life
Miranda has a really busy cultural and social life. You really have something going every other day in the Auditorium. You have dance, music, theatre, art, filmmaking, creative writing, debate and every type of society you would ever think of here and all these are very active ones. Library is just too good with so many original texts and books you would ever want to read.
Admission
I got admission at Miranda House as it was my second preference. You need to CUET - Common University Eligibility Test to apply for this. My college is really good and I just love it. The first preference was St.Stephens' college for the same degree but I couldn't make through it because the cutoff was 782/800 and my score was 776/800.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is not quite nice actually especially for our batch where they had 20% more allocation. As I said some faculties are nice and some are not so nice but this is something you will find at every place it's not college specific. The reason I don't like some of the faculties is because of their way of teaching and how they can't build and carry my interest in their paper. Exams take place twice a year. You usually have 7 subjects - 3 core papers specific to your degree, GE, SEC,VAC, AEC - changing every semester. I really don't think so anybody fails.
Night Life
Miranda is in the North Campus of Delhi University. You get access to all other top colleges of DU and the events taking place there also it's the student hub so hangout spots like Tom Uncle Maggi and Sudama Chai are quite famous. Other than that cafes are common occurrence here especially in Hudson Lane.
