Yes , there are many events celebrated here in the campus like G20 submit race , or freedom leader's birthday. Library facility is good , all types of books available there , sitting area is good and silent, infrastructure is good . Modern technology is used in the classes but for regular classes they use white board and marker only without AC in summer , but there is smart classrooms , AC seminar halls , etc . Big playground is there , every type of sports we can practice.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Fees of this course is 35270 in first year later deducted by 1500 by each year passing like in second year the fees is 33770 . Fees is very high compare to other colleges. Exams fees around 800 to 1000 rupee are also paid every semester. UP government provide scholarship per year for which we have to fill the form and submit it in the college, around 500 rupee spent on this but the scholarship we get is only 7000 rupee . The fees structure needs improvement.

There are only 2 fests that happen in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College for women. First is Srijan which happens around March and it's the main fest of the college in which sometimes some celebrities are invited, like in 2024 , Ajay Hooda(Haryanvi singer) came to spm. There are many activities also which are organized by college and anyone can participate in them. The Second is Jhilmil which happens around November. This is and Diwali fest, many activities are organized and only spm students are allowed in it. The library is the best in SPM college it has 4 floors ( including the ground floor) and has a separate AC cabin for students to study. There are many books for different subjects. NCC is the most active society in this college which goes for tournament. For sports there is a tennis court, basketball court and open gym, and gym provided for students. Societies in SPM are not that great, there are not so many societies, only Dance Society (Thirkan), NSS, NCC, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My Course is BA(H) Economics, which is an great course and an difficult one too,but If you are studying well from the starting then you can score well in my semester exams .The syallabus for Economics honours in Delhi University is the same as it is in London school of economics in London,UK . You can learn statistics, Microeconomics, macroeconomics, Mathematics method of economic, econometrics, these are the subject you have to learn in whole eco hons and some others extra curricular subjects. Teaching methods of teachers are above averages and they should improve it asthey should focus on more teaching students practically not only theoretically. The timing of exams are from my point of view it's very early because in 3 months it's very difficult for an student to learn that much . Difficulty level of exams are above average it's not too difficult not too easy.

Faculty:

The faculty member should have atleast a PhD degree , because the teachers are highly qualified and have a lot of teaching experience. Teacher and student interaction is almost done everyday because students have to interact in the class , but apart from the student interaction , teachers really help the students in all aspects , the faculty members are extremely calm and composed . Regarding academics teachers really help a lot whether it is a strong child or a weak child , all are treated equally

Course Curriculum Overview:

The cause which I choosed is economics hons , and the way it is being taught in our college is absolutely relevant. All kinds of economic policies and areas are being discussed,But the improvement should be made on the practical implementation of it , the more focus should be on how to actually implement this economic terms in really .

There are no such mega annual or technical festivals but a college week is held every year where all students can participate and various sports, music, dance, modeling competitions are conducted. The college has a library that has decent numbers of books and journals, newspapers. You can access the library anytime at the working hours the library is really peaceful for reading with a supportive staff, you can also rent books from the library. There are self established social groups of the students which you can join. You can also join the NCC or NSS. The class are equipped with modern smart board for visual representation and interactive sessions.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The tuition fees were very minimal since it's a government college. The admission fees was around 5600 which is normal in every government colleges and the tuition fees needs to be paid after the end of two semester that is after a year which was around 3800, there during were no such hikes during my time of admission. The overall cost for my education was approximately around 24000 including admission, tuition and exam fees and other compulsory charges. There were no scholarships provided by the college authority although there were Government Scholarships like ishan uday and category based scholarship.

Recently I mean from 2018 onwards course fee for BA course has been increased to 5000 from 2000. No special scholarship is available for studying in this particular institution. You will be eligible to apply any govt or any kind scholarship that is offered by organization. Placement is offered to only professional course students such as BBA, MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like the curriculum because of it's flexibility in nature. It's provides you a wide variety of courses to choose and read. As a generic elective you can choose any subject and develop concept. Semester wise exam was there. Within 4-6 month you will complete a semester.

My course is Economic Honours, while being in school I really enjoyed learning economics and about the economy that's why I decided to choose this course, the curriculum is applicable to the real world as in my course we generally study the economy and the factors influencing it, exams are held twice a year or once a semester along with various internal assessment test, class test etc, generally the difficulty level is high and I'll consider this course to be tough.

Placement Experience:

There are decent campus placement opportunities in my college, as the placement cell members are approaching various companies, students from 3rd year can only get places and students from all years can apply for intership. There are various companies like Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, etc that offers placement opportunities. The percentage of students getting placement depends on the requirements of the company and the skills of the students.

Infrastructure is really good compared to other north campus colleges of the University. There are many societies in which students can take part according to their interests. These societies organise competition time to time . Besides them, annual fest named SHRUTI takes place and is a grand experience for me. Infrastructure includes well-maintained class rooms, auditorium, AV theatre, seminar hall, labs for subjects like computer, evs, psychology etc. The library is full of books in 3 whole floors. One can issue any book from the counter. Sports activities are not much held . However annual sports day is celebrated in which cricket, badminton and other tournaments are held . Campus is peaceful. Overall campus life is good .

Faculty:

Overall the Faculty of the college is good. However, faculty of my department are some of the best professors in the University. My current economics teacher is herself a gold medalist in economics and is well qualified for her position in the college. There are experienced professors who have been teaching in the same college for a long time and understand the pattern of teaching very well. My mathematics teacher retired this year. She studied at the same college and continued to teach in the same. She is the BEST teacher out there. She is well qualified and knows how to make students understand everything in an easier way given the subject is MATHS.

My Overall Experience With Campus Life Was Not Good Because There Was No Better Teaching Experience Of Teachers And No Discipline Maintenance There. The faculty is well educated with good credentials as well as experience in the corporate sector. They share with us their wisdom and are very approachable. We can contact them almost whenever we need them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Though my course is known to be of high value. It has a better placement opportunities as compared to other courses. But some of the subjects like fit India, are of no use. We were not taught anything. Instead, we used to sit ideally in the ground. But we were asked to make the practical files of more than 20 pages. It was really hectic. This new education policy has put a burden on the students. Moreover we were being taught about swatch Bharat abhiyan, but the no. of paper water in making files were much more than that of our core papers. How is it swatch Bharat with this amount of wastage of resources?

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The fees is quite low. It's around 27000, but still the fees for my college is much more than that of other colleges. Maybe because of the infrastructure. And coming to the scholarship part, I didn't enroll in one. Though I've seen my college helping people in need with free hostel facilities. But the college is strict if we want to work and grow. Or prepare for something huge. The college doesn't support that. The attendance issue is a big problem.

Festivals in my college include the Annual fest, Diwali Mela, Freshers, women's Day, department fest, etc. The college celebrates almost every festival with huge pomp and show. There is dj set up and various stalls are also there. There is also a placement fare. The library is average. You can find all the books from your curriculum. Though it doesn't have the latest editions. There is a Wi-Fi facility. ACs are there in the library. The library also has laptops and a printout facility. The sports ground of the college is not so big but there are a few sports like basketball. NCC is also there. NCC students are given proper training. Extracurricular activities are in the form of societies. Some societies are Enactus, Fashion society, dance, singing, eco, placement, commerce, etc. There is a student portal where you can check your attendance and internal marks.

The fees of Maitreyi are very affordable. It has one of the lowest fees within du colleges. The total cost of the First semester was around 7000 rs. The total cost of the Second semester was around 8000 rs Total cost of the Third semester was around 9000 rs. With the implementation of NEP, the fees have increased a bit for the new batch. The scholarships are for economically weaker students and academically good students too. There is a placement cell in the college. I have not taken any employment because I wanted to go for higher studies but 3-4 students in my class got employment in the big 4 companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum offered at DU is truly outstanding, as it provides extensive exposure to students across a wide range of academic disciplines. The inclusion of skill enhancement and elective papers allows students to delve deeper into subject areas outside of their core courses and acquire new and diverse skills. Furthermore, the opportunity to participate in semester exams twice a year allows students to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of the material covered.

Campus Life:

Campus Life:

There are events almost every day in this college. Because there are like 50 societies, and each society has its events, something is going on every single day. Course readings are available within the college itself in our coop shop, and readings usually cost 150 INR. So for economics, for your 4 core subjects, it costs you 600 per semester. We have a 2 floored library and various books are available. We have boards and projectors in our classrooms. Mostly functional. Sports complex is amazingly professional, and there are various student-run clubs one can be a part of.

Faculty:

So we have sections of about 50 students each. Economics has 4 sections per batch. Usually, a teacher takes up to 2 sections in a semester. So I'd say a 100: 1 faculty to student ratio. The faculty is great, vastly experienced, and knows a lot. They are mostly friendly and chill. However, a few can be strict and expect students to know everything just because they got into SRCC lol. We have a weekly tutorial class, with 10 students at a time. That gives us an amazing opportunity to interact with them and get valuable information.

Campus Life:

There are one or two fest held at all and the library doesn't have all the books even course books ( atleast for my course) weren't available at certain aspects although every occasion is celebrated but there aren't any specific functions or large group of student involvement as such. NCC and NSS are very active organisation of this college and as for societies there are only 2 very active the dance and music ones rest all are inactive.

Placement Experience:

There is a placement cell that students can actively take part in which has employment opportunities as well as internships one . There are companies such as wipro, accenture, HCL. Although I plan to secure a placement for experience and skill enhancement then opt for PG

Ques. Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?

● Top Answer By Divjot Bagga on 06 Oct 22

Ans. The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.  Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.  BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.Read more

Ques. Is it worth doing a BA in economics honors from an average college of DU?

● Top Answer By Pragya Agrawal on 10 Oct 22

Ans. Many people believe that college isn't necessary for success in life. No, it does not. But those people are simply not telling the whole story. The amount of struggle you will face without a college degree is 20 times greater than what you will face with a good college degree. Working hard today will make your life easier tomorrow. Any average college isn't worth it unless you're in dire financial need or your family's mental state is unbearable. The hype surrounding DU is unreal. All of those 52 lakh eco packages are overpriced. 5 people out of lakhs may get it; the rest must compete for a 5 lakh job. You should never accept anything less than what you deserve. You can apply for Jamia to enter. You may apply for abroad studies. You can get a fellowship and take a year off. Do whatever it takes to stand out from the crowd and make a better career for yourself.Read more

Ques. Which is better, ISBF Delhi or NMIMS Mumbai for economics honours?

● Top Answer By Ritesh Kumar on 23 Feb 23

Ans. Both the colleges ISBF Delhi and NMIMS Mumbai offer a decent Economic Honors program. I have drawn a detailed comparison between the two on the basis of the following parameters  Worth of the Degree: NMIMS might be a reputed college but its degree cannot be compared to that of ISBF which offers a University of London degree in addition to academic assistance from London School of Economics and Political Science, the top-ranked institute in Economics. Curriculum: Economics is vast and covers a very broad spectrum of subjects from development and finance to international trade. Now the University of London excellently allows the students to choose 6 electives of their choice in addition to 6 compulsory subjects. This ensures that the students get a job in the sector they are passionate about. This flexibility of curriculum lacks on the part of NMIMS. Prospects: A DU student applying to top institutions in the UK for a master, is required to complete a diploma year before starting with his master's. This aims to compensate for the difference in the standard of education. However, anyone with a University of London degree can directly apply for a Master in top universities in the UK. Batch size: The batch size at ISBF is relatively smaller than that of NMIMS. This aids in better student-teacher interaction and class discussions. This in turn helps in better delivery of the curriculum. So in almost all aspects, ISBF is a better choice than NMIMS.Read more

Ques. How is BA economics from DTU (East campus)?

● Top Answer By Mayank Gupta on 06 Jul 23

Ans. BA Economics Honors is a newly launched program by DTU that is delivered under the department called the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME). Other programs offered under this department are BBA and MBA.  Here are a few highlights pertaining to the BA Economics Honors: The faculty is highly experienced and hails from reputed colleges. There are many inspirational professionals, one such being Dr. KV Bhanumurthy, Rtd. Dean of DSE who teaches Economics to first-year students. DTU BA Economics curriculum is somewhat similar to DU or IP University curriculum. Usually, the electives are finalized by the faculty after receiving the consent of students.  DTU has a 75% attendance rule to maintain the decorum of academic ambiance here. The campus is new so it’s still in the development phase. Overall, I believe this institute in general and this program specifically has a lot of potential and anyone who fails to get into DU for Economics should consider joining it.Read more

Ques. How good is Loyola College Chennai for economics?

● Top Answer By Rudrani Sengupta on 04 Oct 21

Ans. The answer to this question depends on what you want to do. I have a few friends from Loyola College, Chennai, and here is what they have to say about the institute. Loyola has really good professors and a vast library with huge collections of books. It also has a digital library and conducts national-level symposiums. The placement office is amazing and a lot of different companies from diversified fields come to the campus. In the last placement drive, the highest CTC offered was 5 LPA.  Loyola has a policy of 80% attendance. It also has a compulsory club of 60 hours during the first year and there are a lot of options to choose from – NCC, NSS, FOP, Loyola dream team, AICUF, Rotaract, Radio, LPA, Debate Club, etc. Even after all of this, certain students have arrear and do not like to study. They just want to enjoy themselves and do not enroll in any club, do not use the library at all.  Overall, the college is good but it is up to you to make the most of your time there.Read more

Ques. Which is better: H.B.Econ. from SRCC or IPM from IIM Indore?

● Top Answer By Amrapali Patel on 30 Aug 21

Ans. SRCC is an established and well-known institution affiliated with the University of Delhi. The institution has a pretty good faculty and the curriculum being taught there is also considered to be of high standards. If you are planning to prepare a solid CV for your career, I would suggest that you opt for a course of your interest at SRCC.  These are just some views I gathered by interacting with students of these institutes.  The curriculum followed at IPM has been mocked by several candidates because of its diversity. It does not include specific topics for a particular specialization.  However, for the batch of 2016-21, a new curriculum has been introduced by the authorities which is more focussed on areas like Economics, Quantitative aptitude, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology.  These areas are also considered to be the 5 pillars of management at the PGDM level by many individuals working in the field of business and management. The placement of the institution is also quite good with the average package approximately equal to the amount which usually gets offered to candidates studying at the Postgraduate level.  Categories Economics (Hons.) at SRCC IPM at IIM Indore Course Fee 45,000 26 lakh Course Duration 3 years 5 years Highest CTC 25 LPA 28 LPA Average CTC 8-10 LPA 15-18 LPA Recruiting Companies Deloitte, KPMG, EY, Amazon, etc. ICICI Bank, American Express, Mindtree, HCL, etc. My brother was eligible for admission at SRCC but instead, he opted for IPM because it was favoring his interests, environment, and several other factors. You can too make a decision based on your interests and several other factors which you think are important for your career.Read more
