Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is not that high due to which it helps in more interaction with professors. My Eco Sir named Jai Ram Meena is brilliant bcz of his knowledge and teaching style. The name of the faculty i didn't like is Deepanshu sir because he gives too many assignments. Exams are conducted in the end of semester around 7 exams and for Economics Honours they are generally difficult.

Campus Life

Our annual fest name is Saptrang held in late February or Start of March April There are wide range of books material available in the college which helps students to take their help rather than directly buying costly books. The facilities and technological provisions in the classroom are praisebale as compared to other colleges. Sports Infrastructure still needs more attention

Course Curriculum Overview

I have taken this course not out of anywhere but because economics is the way to move forward. With the new EU economics policies that were cleared lately all of it was added in our classrooms and it became a point of discussion. So, our studies are not what is there in textbooks but in the geological world any new sanctions and FTA are also discussed.

Internships Opportunities

Nearly 100 companies have been invited by USME this year for summer internships and all students have been asked to grab one or find on own. Without internships practical learning will never be something as a student we will ever be exposed too and therefore, with a stipend close to 20-30k all students have to go for intenrships.

Campus Life

The campus life has overall been majority times satisfactory. We are looking into the way for our most awaited, annual confluence fest. Apart from this, our college has an honourable library with a wide range of graphic magazines and novels, for the students to enjoy. Sports acitivites are promoted by the use of a specially formulated sports room. I am also a part of the mun society of hansraj college.

Placement Experience

Yes, there is indeed a placement cell in the college. It does help the students in acquiring jobs but as in most colleges, the skill of the individual student matters more. Hansraj therefore runs a skill and placement training program, and those who finish that without an iota of doubt, get placed. Economics hons is by far the best course in terms of placements.

Internships Opportunities

internship availability is good the highest stipend offered really suprised me and the average is also not bad at all but then again college can only do so much, its on the student themselves what they bring to the table, if you have a lot to bring this college wont limit you.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is excellent here as compared to other colleges as a smaller batch size means more focus on a particular student which is good. I won't name any faculty but all of them aren't good but most of them are. which is great for a government college.

Confluence is the name of the culturaly rich and heritage filled fest, of the most awaited one all round the year, which is our lovely hansraj college. We have access to a rich variety of textbooks and contagious pieces of fiction as well. Classrooms are filled of ACs and high end 3d projection devices. I am also a part of the mun society which hones my skills to a large extent.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual charges for the wonderful course of economics at my college is around 32000 per year. It inculcates all types of infrastructure, exams and other forms of payment levied by the college. I feel blessed to be a part of the hansraj family, as my college beats other private universities easily in terms of fees and scholarships offered to unwealthy children.

We have 2 fests, one in september called jalsa and other is nexus in february. all types of academic books are available in the library, the facilities and technological provisions in the classrooms require improvement and are not up to the mark. the sports and extracurricular provided are good. Student run social groups and clubs are in abundance with low involvement of teachers and are solely run by the students only

Placement Experience

The college provides limited but gradually improving internship opportunities. Students become eligible for campus placements in their 3rd and 4th year. While placements are not the primary focus of the course, the college provides basic support throufh placement cells, career guidance sessions, and internship related assistance

Course Curriculum Overview

As a 2nd sem student i found the curriculum very boring and not updated according to present needs . I think it increases the knowledge but doesn't prepare us to tackle real world problems . I choose this course because it is well demanding despite being not updated . There are various improvement needed related to markets and finance . The exams are also conducted frequently without giving room for flexibility.

My college has around 6000 students and around 300 teachers , i am not sure , teachers are very interective and suppotive . I really admire a few of the teachers who have taught me and some of them are teaching us in this semester , like Narottam Vineet sir , he taught us History of India in 1st year , i really enjoyed his classes, then this year Mr. Uma sir who is very serious about his students and teachings , from my point of view he is an ideal teacher, one more teacher i really admire and respect is Dinesh Prashad sir who taught us History of China last sem , and this sem he is teaching us History of Mordern Japan, what i love about his classes is his intelectual side, sometimes i wonder from where did he get all those thoughts and knowledge, he has very calm and loving nature.

Campus Life

Our college has an extremely vibrant and happening campus life, with several events such as 'Jalsa', dandiya nights and many more events hosted by various societies. Our college has more than 30 student led societies, which helps cater to every students interest. There are branches of world renowned intiatives such as enactus, theres clubs which will help you gain practical knowledge and insight on things you have an interest for, and our college also has singing, dancing and theatre teams that are famous in all of Delhi such as Verve Dance Crew, who have made a huge name for themselves, even anubhuti (the theatre club) and the singing club too. They participate in many competitions and bring glory to the name of the college. People are always busy, preparing for some or the other event or competition in different corners of campus. The fine arts association is busy in planning our biggest annual fest called 'Nexus' which is a 3 day fest wherein people from various colleges come, compete, enjoy concerts, stalls and the colours of the infamous Delhu University fest season

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is extremely relevant to the course, when I chose my course as economics honours this sort of rigour, mathematics and critical thinking is exactly what I expected and also wanted. It prepares me to take on various opportunities and expands my options to more than just economics. It gives me knowledge on how markets work, and deeper insights into topics such as inflation, GDP, balance of payments which are basic but crucial for understanding the subject and looking at the world with the eyes of an economist

Ever since I've been going to college, there's been tons of events going on . Fresher's meet , Independence day, Dussehra, diwali and many more installing stalls all over the campus , it was very fun there were lots of memorable moments too. The range and accessibility of books and jounals in the library is quite good with quiteness and tight security in case of discrepancy I've also joined fine arts society which helped me socialise more and improve my skills. So far , everything is good

Fees and Financial Aid

I recently started going to Daulat Ram college since last mid year taking the course of B.A(hons) economics and paid a total of ?32,100.Thankfully being an ST caste helps me to pay lower than the other caste relieving me financially and I've also applied for NSP along with it . All the infrastructure are great and there's an ongoing construction in the college expanding the number of classrooms.

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Economics from the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship - (USME) at Delhi Technological University - (DTU) and have had a very good experience with respect to both Academics and Value For Money, at this institution. The total annual course fee for BA Economics (Honours) is ?117000 and ?1500 Registration Fee, which means that the total annual Cost of the course will be approximately ?118000. Therefore, your entire course fee from Year One through Year Four will be around ?470000. This cost is comparatively lower than other established Public/Private Universities offering Economics degrees/business courses, etc. One of the key benefits of being a student at DTU is that most of the time, DTU does not increase course fees during the period of your study. You will be charged the same fee amount, as quoted on your admission notice, for the full duration of your course unless an increase in fee structure has been officially announced by the University to all its students. With respect to what you get for your tuition fee, the total tuition fee includes the following: Tuition fees; Development Charges; Examination Fees; Library Facilities; Student Welfare Costs. Therefore, students do not usually incur extra or hidden costs. With the exception of the registration fee and the caution deposit that is refunded at your time of admission, if you are enrolled in Economics at DTU, you will not incur many other compulsory fees. According to the guidelines set forth by the government(s) and universities, students belonging to the SC/ST/Persons With Disabilities category, tend to receive a much greater advantage on their fees (compared with General Candidates). This is mainly attributed to scholarships received from the government(s) as well as a reduction through tuition waivers.

Campus Life

The overall campus experience at Delhi Technological University has been vibrant and highly interactive due to many social exposure opportunities as well as many avenues for student involvement through extracurricular activities. University-wide festivals like Engifest (held every February) and Yuvaan (held every March) play a significant role in defining what campus culture is at DTU. These festivals attract large numbers of students from across the country and provide students with opportunities to compete, perform, participate in workshops, and network with other students. The DTU Central Library has an extensive collection of textbooks, reference books and journals that are related to Economics, Management and other areas of study. The Central Library offers a mixture of both Print and Electronic access to all academic materials, allowing students to have easy access to these resources both physically and digitally. All of the classrooms at DTU are acceptable and functional; many classrooms are equipped with projectors, a SmartBoard (some rooms), Wi-Fi and adequate seating. Although the classrooms may not be ultra-modern, they are/continue to be sufficient for a student’s day-to-day use during class. The DTU sports and extracurricular facilities are as extensive as possible; DTU offers a variety of fields, courts and facility equipment for sports such as basketball, volleyball, football, badminton and Athletics in addition to Gym Facilities. In addition to the above-mentioned opportunities for academic growth and development, campus life at DTU provides the opportunity for a student to participate in many other opportunities through a variety of student-created societies, clubs, and online student social platforms. Overall, campus life at DTU is an excellent mixture of academia, socialization, and personal development.

Course Curriculum Overview

economics is a really great yet difficult course and prepared us really well for the real world scenarios as we learn how to do forecasting in the corporate world. Improvement can be done with us interacting with companies and actually having conversations with experts so that we are familiar abou things actually work. The exams are moderate to difficult and you just cant pass them with one day prior study session.

Campus Life

College life is really good and you get to interact with really cool seniors through multiple societies. Infrastucture is also really beautiful and very DU-like. ICT Lab is well maintained and classes are also being held regularly. There are multiple student run clubs and sports teams as well which contribute to the overall character development of students.

Ques. which are the best colleges for bachelors in economics (hons.) in india

● Top Answer By Aditi Guha on 07 Mar 24

Ans. These are the best Indian colleges for a bachelors’ in economics- DSE, Lady Shri Ram, St Stephen's and Miranda House- Delhi Ferguson and Symbiosis- Pune St Xavier's, Jadavpur University, Lady Brabourne- Kolkata Christ University- Bangalore The ones that follow merit based admissions, mainly look at the Math and English scores of the candidates. Some of them take Math scores quite seriously. It is even better if you had economics as a subject in your +2.  An economics background may give you some benefit in the cutoffs. Some others follow entrance test based admissions. They’ll consider both your +2 marks and test scores (more weightage to +2 marks). You may consider a UG abroad, it is totally worth the trouble.Read more

Ques. Which option is better, Pursuing a BA programme (Eco +Maths) from PGDAV college or BA (Honours) Economics from Amity University

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 21 Aug 23

Ans. It’s better to choose the right program for you than choosing a better college. This is because if you choose something you are passionate about, even an average college will offer you enough opportunities to grow in that field.  I will suggest you go for Economic Honors in the BA program. This program is the right blend of Maths and Economics at the graduation level. Given below are a few scenarios in which choosing a BA program from PGDAV college over BA (H) Economics from Amity University will be beneficial You have no interest in pursuing higher studies in the field of Economics. You are just looking for a qualifying degree that will make you eligible for government exams or other courses. You get a better college for the BA program than Economic Honors. Although I will suggest that you give preference to courses over college. Most people will suggest you go for Economics Honors but make sure you are choosing what you actually want.Read more

Ques. How is BA economics from DTU (East campus)?

● Top Answer By Mayank Gupta on 06 Jul 23

Ans. BA Economics Honors is a newly launched program by DTU that is delivered under the department called the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME). Other programs offered under this department are BBA and MBA.  Here are a few highlights pertaining to the BA Economics Honors: The faculty is highly experienced and hails from reputed colleges. There are many inspirational professionals, one such being Dr. KV Bhanumurthy, Rtd. Dean of DSE who teaches Economics to first-year students. DTU BA Economics curriculum is somewhat similar to DU or IP University curriculum. Usually, the electives are finalized by the faculty after receiving the consent of students.  DTU has a 75% attendance rule to maintain the decorum of academic ambiance here. The campus is new so it’s still in the development phase. Overall, I believe this institute in general and this program specifically has a lot of potential and anyone who fails to get into DU for Economics should consider joining it.Read more

Ques. Which is better for a BA Hons. Economics Hindu College or Hansraj College?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 07 Jun 23

Ans. Even though both colleges hold immense prestige and boast of their academic excellence, for many, Hindu College stands ahead of Hansraj College for Economics Honors. Many students consider Hindu College to be in 4th position in terms of Economics studies, after St.Stephens, SRCC, and LSR. Some highlights of Hindu College are-  Post-graduation studies - The students pursuing their Economics (Hons) from Hindu College get the opportunity to join prestigious institutions for further studies. To name a few- Oxford University, Delhi School of Economics, London School of Economics University of Bath, Warwick University, and other prominent universities of the UK IIM (including IIM Bangalore), XLRI, FMS, SP Jain, MDI, and other prestigious business schools in India Placements- Students are offered positions in firms such as Google, Jaypee Trading, KPMG, DE Shaw, and others. Some students even receive multiple offers My sisters’ batchmates (2010 graduates) are currently placed in top Private Equity firms, Top investment banks, and consulting firms of great prestige. Some secured much-revered government positions as IAS and IFS officers. Though these are not statistical figures for an accurate comparison, the data can still provide important insight and value judgment on Hindu College. Ultimately, it is a matter of individual preference regarding which college you choose. Both colleges offer students immense opportunities, in fact even similar opportunities, so to say. Also, some of my friends do mention that the economics faculty at Hansraj might be better than the one at Hindu.Read more

Ques. Which is better, ISBF Delhi or NMIMS Mumbai for economics honours?

● Top Answer By Ritesh Kumar on 23 Feb 23

Ans. Both the colleges ISBF Delhi and NMIMS Mumbai offer a decent Economic Honors program. I have drawn a detailed comparison between the two on the basis of the following parameters  Worth of the Degree: NMIMS might be a reputed college but its degree cannot be compared to that of ISBF which offers a University of London degree in addition to academic assistance from London School of Economics and Political Science, the top-ranked institute in Economics. Curriculum: Economics is vast and covers a very broad spectrum of subjects from development and finance to international trade. Now the University of London excellently allows the students to choose 6 electives of their choice in addition to 6 compulsory subjects. This ensures that the students get a job in the sector they are passionate about. This flexibility of curriculum lacks on the part of NMIMS. Prospects: A DU student applying to top institutions in the UK for a master, is required to complete a diploma year before starting with his master's. This aims to compensate for the difference in the standard of education. However, anyone with a University of London degree can directly apply for a Master in top universities in the UK. Batch size: The batch size at ISBF is relatively smaller than that of NMIMS. This aids in better student-teacher interaction and class discussions. This in turn helps in better delivery of the curriculum. So in almost all aspects, ISBF is a better choice than NMIMS.Read more

Ques. Is economics honors a better option or IPM offered at IIM Indore?

● Top Answer By Shrey Jain on 05 Jan 23

Ans. Firstly Economics Honours required an in-depth study of Economics whereas the IPM program focuses on the many areas of Management. There is a drastic difference between the nature of both courses. No doubt Economics knowledge is beneficial for the IPM program but is not necessarily important. In IPM, Economics is just a 4 credit course in a term of about 30 credits. IPM hugely emphasizes Quants over Economics. So if you are more interested in Economics, then IPM is not for you. Your choice should be a good college from DU North Campus. If you manage to get into one then pursuing Economic Honors is a much-preferred option over IPM. Don’t choose a below-average college for Economic Honors. In that case, go for IPM only.Read more

Ques. How is Delhi College of Arts and Commerce for economics honours?

● Top Answer By Shruti Sharma on 05 Nov 22

Ans. Overall, DCAC is a quintessential and fairly standard college. However, if you are a new student looking for admission, this is a good college to consider. If you only have one option, go with DCAC. The faculty members determine whether or not a department is worthwhile. Faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. Students have always provided positive feedback, particularly for the Economics Department. Another factor to consider is your sincerity, seriousness, consistency, and punctuality with regard to the subject, as well as your desire to become enlightened.Read more

Ques. Is it worth doing a BA in economics honors from an average college of DU?

● Top Answer By Pragya Agrawal on 10 Oct 22

Ans. Many people believe that college isn't necessary for success in life. No, it does not. But those people are simply not telling the whole story. The amount of struggle you will face without a college degree is 20 times greater than what you will face with a good college degree. Working hard today will make your life easier tomorrow. Any average college isn't worth it unless you're in dire financial need or your family's mental state is unbearable. The hype surrounding DU is unreal. All of those 52 lakh eco packages are overpriced. 5 people out of lakhs may get it; the rest must compete for a 5 lakh job. You should never accept anything less than what you deserve. You can apply for Jamia to enter. You may apply for abroad studies. You can get a fellowship and take a year off. Do whatever it takes to stand out from the crowd and make a better career for yourself.Read more
