NIFT Delhi, recognized as India's premier fashion and textile institute operated by the Ministry of Textiles, was founded in 1986. According to both India Today and The Week, NIFT Delhi has ranked number #1 in the fashion technology category. The most popular courses are B.Des and M.F.M.

Available Courses

For Undergraduates: B.Des (Bachelor of Design) with various specialisations (Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design) and B.FTech (Bachelor of Fashion Technology).

Criteria for Admission

NIFT Entrance Exams (consisting of the General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT), and Situation Test for B.Des) are used to determine the eligibility for B.Des/B.FTech admission and subsequent counselling.
For M.Des/M.F.M/M.FTech courses, NIFT Entrance Exam scores (GAT/CAT) and further Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI) rounds are used to determine eligibility.

Cutoffs

The final merit ranks for B.Des vary between AIR 1 - 200 for the General category.
The cutoffs for M.F.M usually vary between AIR 1 - 70 for the General category.

Total Fees

Total fee for the complete B.Des/B.FTech program is around 14.31 lakhs and the total fee for the entire Master's Program is about INR 6.85 lakhs.

NIFT Delhi Admission 2026

NIFT admission process involves the Written Exam (CAT & GAT) for all candidates, followed by either a hands-on Situation Test (B.Des) or a Group Discussion and Personal Interview (PG & B.F.Tech), which determines the final All India Rank. Admission is strictly based on merit in the NIFTEE exam and subsequent stages.

NIFT Delhi Application Process 2026

Candidates seeking admission to NIFT Delhi have to first apply for the NIFT Entrance Exam @exams.nta.ac.in/NIFT. The application fee for NIFT Delhi Admission is as follows:

The allocation of seats for admission to various programs at NIFT Delhi will be done through the centralised NIFT Counselling conducted for all the NIFT campuses across India. The counselling is conducted in multiple rounds, depending on the number of seats. The seat allotment will be released on the official website of NIFT. Candidates who will be offered admission have to accept the seat by paying the fee for admission confirmation.

NIFT Delhi Scholarships and Financial Aid

NIFT's scholarship programmes offer crucial financial support.

The main merit-cum-means scholarship is SARTHAK. Students can get a 100% tuition fee waiver if their parents make up to ₹2 lakh annually. Higher income slabs up to ₹8 lakhs are also eligible for partial waivers.
UDAAN: A merit-cum-means scholarship designed especially to assist students participating in international study exposure and exchange programmes.

Through partnerships with significant nationalised banks, the institute also makes educational loans possible.

Overview of NIFT

Likes

One of the best things about college life is that you get a new experience every day. In my college life, along with studying, I and my friends enjoyed a lot of other things. We traveled to lots of places, had new experiences, and learned new things
Most of the students go to another city, state or country for their College studies. This provides them with a lot of freedom and everyone likes freedom. And so do us.
I've found amazing people that I can truly call friends and can see them in my life for a very long time. I got to build with other people emotionally, mentally and physically… Learning more about who they are.

Dislikes

It was away from main city so we needed to travel alot after first year as they only allow us to stay in hostels for 1 year
Making new friends and fitting in can be hectic for somepeople especially introverted people. So more mandatory extra curricular activities are needed for ice btreaking.
College placement were not including vast industries and as they happen only in main campuses, it becomes a headache to travel to other places for placement

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

I was drawn towards fashion industry since very starting and I have been researching on how to further study on the same field and then comes bachelor's in fashion technology. I studied alot to qualify nift all India exam and got into the College. Studying at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) can offer several advantages compared to studying at a private college. Here are some reasons why NIFT may be worth considering: Reputation and Accreditation: NIFT is a prestigious institution in India known for its quality education and industry relevance. It is a government institution and is recognized for its programs in fashion design, technology, management, and communication. Industry Connections: NIFT has strong ties with the fashion industry, which can provide students with opportunities for internships, placements, and exposure to industry trends. The institute often collaborates with leading fashion houses, designers, and brands, offering students valuable networking.

Campus internship opportunities and projects

There are 3 main internship options. Textile internship: in the end of first year of college, it is mandatory to do textile internship which basically includes working in a textile factory to get a detailed information about the process. You can get internship in any manufacturing unit with the help of faculties as an intern only. (Shahi, vardhaman Mills etc) Apparel production internship: in the end of second year, it is mandatory to do apparel internship which basically includes working in a garment manufacturing unit for 2 months. Companies like arvind, Raymond's, varmani, Shahi etc provides opportunities. Graduation project: it is mandatory to do graduation project internship in 8th semester for 4 months which is basically your last exam. Any apparel brand or manufacturing units provide GP option for nift students and if your project is up to the mark, you can also get PPO before being graduated.

Various companies recruiting from the campus and highest package being offered

From 4th year, last semester, students become eligible for placements. Companies like, groyyo, arvind, Myntra, wfx, decathalon, and other big manufacturers and brands have visited for campus placement, in total atleast 20-30 companies comes for placement per campus. On an average, 10-20 places have been offered from each company. Highest package in my year was 120000 and minimum was 400000 in bachelor's in fashion technology. you can also get PPO while doing graduation internship. Atleast 40% people are placed via campus placement, others mostly find jobs via PPO or offline hirings. I have plans to become Consultant in fashion industry for a software company or mnc. I am keen towards Learning new things and explore.

Yearly fees structure of the course and scholarship

As of now, the NIFT fees for bachelor's is 13,42,000 for the course which includes tution fee and hostel fee and other charges, cost for 1 year is 3,26,000 as of now. After selection, everyone will get there admission letter with all information about the fee structure. Scholarship option is also there which is called 'sarthak' and they provide 100% to 20% waver in tution fee. This scholarship is totally dependent upon Student family's annual income and their own grades. Campus employment are also available whether with the senior students or in college Library. There are multiple events happening in college and every event provides campus employment opportunities. I have also taken sarthak 100% scholarship and it has been a great help for me in every aspect. With that, i have also worked with seniors for helping in fashion shows and events.

Various events, clubs and library of the campus

Annual festival is spectrum which is held in Feb-march which is held campus vise. Inter campus event is called converge which is held in different campus every year. For multiple competition, students are selected and are taken to the selected campus site and students get an opportunity to meet different campuses students while having fun and competing. There are multiple houses in each campus, for literary, arts, and sports. And in outdoor sports, basketball, cricket, volleyball, badminton is played and in door sports includes carrom, chess and table tennis. Sports options definitely depends upon the campus. Usually smaller campuses opt for going into stadiums for their events. Students only runs all the social groups and clubs. Student portals are handled by students only with faculty guidence and approval. College president and clubs president keeps all the activities in check. They basically provide guidance and help in choosing favorite activity and clubs as per students likes.

What are facilities available in the college hostel?

AC rooms with bed, cupboard, study table are provided. Washrooms are combined but gets cleaned every morning and night. AC rooms also have multiple occupancy and single occupancy options. Cleaning services are also provided which is included in hostel fees. Mess provide food 4 times in a day breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner. Meal chart is made every week and handled by student food council who helps in maintaining hygiene and food quality. Registration process for hostel and mess is also done which admission process. Food and hostel is quite affordable as we don't need any extra money for anything whether it's cleaning or maintaining hygiene. Rented rooms and pg are also available near the campus only but I would suggest to take hostel for first year of your college as it is inside campus only. After that explore new areas an opt for rented rooms or pg but it is costly than being in hostel.

Mentorship provided by the faculties in the campus

Faculty to student ratio is 1:5 and we all have assigned mentors so it becomes very easy to approach our faculty members and take important insights. They provide knowledge and guidence towards individual preferences and they provide support in all the projects and internships.

Evaluation criteria followed in the campus

Course is 100% eligible for people who are interested in fashion and have technical background. You can find application form and other details in nift official website. Reservation benefits are definitely available. It provides students opportunity to be in a good college based on reserved seats of their cast. Domicile seats are also available. Detailed information is mentioned in nift official site. Exams happen once a year and it is different for tech and design Student. Bftech and bdesign are 2 options available. For technical students, If you are good in current affairs, English and maths, it won't be that difficult. For design students, there's one additional exam called situation test which tests designing and thinking skills of students. Difficulty level is not high if you are creative. Areas of improvement: I would want that there should be lesser reserved seats so that general students who scored good marks can also get the college of their dreams.

The adventure lend of NIFT kangra

Likes

the classes were made with eco friendly bamboo material
surrounded by culturally rich atmoshphere

Dislikes

no in house facilities such as atm , gym etc
technically backward and lack of facilities

Admission:

The reason i chose this college is first, because of its location in himachal. second the goverment institute provide perks which were not there in private institutes. There is an entrance exam to be cracked to get admission in this college, conducted at different centres from all over India. I also gave exam for pearl academy and got passed in entrance but chose Nift over pearl because of its credibility being a government institute and less expensive.

NIFT Delhi - A total walkthrough

Admission:

I had applied for CEED and didn't qualify. And in NIFT exam I secured the rank 30 and got nift delhi as its the best campus of all over nift. I took this campus. You need to complete any bachelor's background for this exam. They only accept nift entrance scores. Admission experience is pretty smooth as everything is online. And cutoffs varies every year. You need to secure a good rank if you belong to the general category to get into nift delhi.

A Glimpse into NIFT New Delhi

Admission:

I didn't apply for any other colleges. I just got to know about nift only. I just wanted to pursue my career in arts and fashion. Also if I would have known about NID I might applied for that only. Because the product designing I'm doing here is way better there than here. Also to get into NIFT Delhi's B.Des. (Accessory Design) program, you'll need to ace the entrance exam, which includes a Creative Ability Test (CAT) and a General Ability Test (GAT). Shortlisted candidates will then be called for a Situation Test. Your final selection will depend on your performance in these exams and a counseling session.

Life in NIFT

Admission:

Nift is a government College and the fee for it is the least compared to the other fashion colleges. I didn't not apply to even a single other college since I thought I'll just give it a try and fortunately I got in in the first go itself. But I did apply for the uceed exam , my score was 50 marks less and I couldn't make it for that exam . The uceed exam was way tricky than the nift entrance. Nift has a simple admiss Process, you apply for the exam. You give the CAT and GAT exams which are scheduled on the same day itself of 2hrs and 3hrs respectively. Cat is the drawing exam and the gat is for the science maths gk social science etc knowledge test. After you pass this exam then you get selected for the situation test which is a studio based test where you get the materials and 3hrs and you have to then make something with the give material and the provide topics. Then you get a rank Accor to which you sit for the counselling and get the admission in one of the 19 campus in india

Admission:

I choose nift as I know they teach us product designing and I was very passionate about product designing so I choose this college as it is a top most college in the world of fashion in india ...nift delhi has its own value in the whole market of colleges who are providing b.des course ...and for coming into nift yes u need to give the exam ..most probably the forms will be out in October or November and the exam pattern is little hard u will have 3 exams GAT ,CAT and situation test ..GAT and CAT will be held on one day and if u pass in both of them then ur eligible to sit for situation test then according to ur AIR ( all over India rank) and according to ur category u will be allocated to different campus and course as per ur preferences

It has modern infrastructure, including well-equipped labs, workshops and studios.

Dislikes

College is specialised institute with focus curriculum. I found campus life relatively quiet or limited compared to other colleges.
Sometimes I feel I feel pressure to perform well and meet the standards.
Raibareli is a small town. No needed facilities are available.

Admission:

I have applied in many colleges of arts or designing I gave many entrance exams but my focus was on nift because nift is one of the very good college for design and fashion. I choose nift because it was my dream. Yes I didn't get the admission in any other college and the real reason behind that is I didn't prepare myself for that. And for nift I did preparation by my self. Admission process of my college, there will be two exams GAT which is general ability test and CAT which means creative ability test if we qualified we have to give the next exam which is situation test in that test they will give us situations and we make 3d model of that situation. And after qualifying exam we will get admission. For admission we have to submit various forms along with medical fitness.

First give cat exam Cat exam is like your creativity there was a sketching and good communication skill was required Second give gat exam Gat exam is like your past experience of school and college its totally general knowledge based test and there is also negative marking

Overview of NIFT

Likes

One of the best things about college life is that you get a new experience every day. In my college life, along with studying, I and my friends enjoyed a lot of other things. We traveled to lots of places, had new experiences, and learned new things
I've found amazing people that I can truly call friends and can see them in my life for a very long time. I got to build with other people emotionally, mentally and physically& Learning more about who they are.
Most of the students go to another city, state or country for their College studies. This provides them with a lot of freedom and everyone likes freedom. And so do us.

Dislikes

Making new friends and fitting in can be hectic for somepeople especially introverted people. So more mandatory extra curricular activities are needed for ice btreaking.

Admission to all the UG and PG programs at NIFT Delhi is based on the NIFT Entrance Exam, a national-level Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Situation Test or Personal Interview, if applicable to the course. NIFT Entrance Exam comprises a General Ability Test (GAT) for all the UG and PG Programs, and also an additional Creative Ability Test (CAT) for B.Des and M.Des. The allocation of seats for admission will be done through NIFT Counselling conducted in multiple rounds depending on the number of seats. Candidates seeking admission to NIFT Delhi need to apply online on its official website for all the programs. The application fee for NIFT Delhi Admission is INR 3,000 for General/ EWS/ OBC and INR 1,500 for SC/ ST/ PwD.

What is the total fees for graduation at NIFT Delhi?

As a purpose of UG programs, the institute offers 2 courses i.e. Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fashion Technology. The total fee for the graduation at the NIFT is INR 13.43. Admission to all the courses will be based on marks obtained by the students in GAT followed by counseling sessions. The candidates must have qualified in 12th level examinations by any of recognized board i.e. Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board of Secondary Education New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. Any equivalent to 10+2 level exam from any public school/board/university exam in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. 3 or 4 years Diploma from any recognized board/university by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education. The lower age limit is 23 years as per 31st October of the admission year.
