Student view on course curriculum

The course and subjects included are actually quite comprehensive. Right from the foundation program where they teach you material handling of common materials and drawing till the end year where it is constrained to your department. The course contains a lot of topics covered which enhance your skills.

The fee structure for National Institute of Fashion Technology for an academic year varies by semester anand category. For non NRI students, the annual fee is around 2,00,000, including tution fees 1,72,850 per semester, library fees of 11,500 and other charges like medicare, exam and alumni membership fees.

Campus Life, clubs, and various Facilities

The overall social life at NIFT was pretty great. There are a couple of clubs that you could be a part of like cultural, sports, literary, etc. There is a lot of party culture as well and the social club tries their best with creative ideas of programs. Moreover the juniors and seniors share a great bond as well.

There are three exams confucted in total. The mid term, end term and end term Jury. The faculties are very subjective some of them are great and very nurturing whilst some are extremely partial and hypocritical. It is not always a good relation with the faculty

Admission process and eligibility criteria

NIFT is a government college which is top ranked for a design college. Other private colleges like Pearl academy do not even offer a degree and are not that respected in the industry. The entrance exam consists of two parts GAT and CAT. GAT is general aptitude test of maths, English and general knowledge and Cat is to assess your artistic and creative abilities. This is followed by a Situation test to assess your material handling and presence of mind.

Night Life

There is a hostel available just for girls but they are expected to return back by 9.30 pm on weekdays. Hence most people move out after the first year and get their own accommodation like PGs or Flats. There is a canteen which is open till 8.30pm only thus students order out post that.

My 1st choice was nid because I wanted product design, but then I got to know nift has accessory design which is similar to product design, and then I gave the exam and got in nift and 2 private colleges but I chose nift because it has lower fees than private colleges and the placements are better comparatively

Okay I wanted fashion design in Bangalore itself but i didn't get since my rank was not that much but my second option was knitwear Bangalore since I like the weather a lot and don't prefer hot places and since I'm a South Indian Bangalore was the closest to my hometown and I've heard that Bangalore has good placements and faculty with experience.

Yes there's a entrance exam but it's quota wise like I'm from artisan quota so I just gave an interview and a situation test it's quite difficult but interesting according to me no such improvement required

Admission:

The eligibility for the course is passing 12th grade through CBSE/SSC or any equivalent board. There is no stream preference and hence can be taken by any student. The application form comes on the official website of NIFT. The exam takes place once every year with 2 levels. One is the written test which is divided into a creative ability/drawing exam and a logical reasoning and general ability exam. after clearing this the students are required to give a situation test where they have to make a model about the prompt provided to them.

The college allows you to express yourself in many ways, they seek out the creativeness in you and push you towards exploring even more.

Admission:

The cut-off depends on the overall rank that you get in your exam, your rank also determines which campus and what part of India you can go to. If you're choosing to go to Delhi Mumbai or Bangalore your rank as a design student needs to be within 150 or so and technology is also the same. The exams they conduct are two parts for design where and one exam for fashion technology.

Ab overview of life at NIFT Bangalore

Likes

The teachers are approachable and supportive. The interiors of the college provide a really good atmosphere for a design student.

Dislikes

The campus is a little too small. I wish it was a little bigger for us to enjoy a better campus life.

Admission:

You become eligible after giving your 12th exams after which you can find the application form on the official website of NIFT when the new admission year begins. The application fees was 2000 rupees. The forms come out around December. I scored 140 rank under OBC category and 700 under the open category. There are reservation benefits for those who qualify under the categories of OBC, GEN-EWS, SC/ST. The exams take place sometime in February. The structure of the exam is pretty simple with 60% CAT (drawing) and 40% GAT (theory) portion.

Admission:

I've applied for, JEE, Delhi university, and BHU (Banaras Hindu University) as well. I joined NIFT because I got my desired centre in NIFT. I availed of the OBC quota for admission. The admission criteria for NIFT in terms of marks defer according to the category of OBC, General, SC, ST. My counselling was held online and the process was smooth. There wasn't much doubt or problem during counselling. The online classes were also held properly and the course continued despite the Covid situation.

After giving the examination for NIFT, wait for the results to be declared. After the results are out, go for the counselling process and according to your rank, you will get the NIFT campus. For the admission criteria of BFTech, one should belong to the science background and should have atleast 45% marks in 12th boards.

Admission to B.Des course at NIFT Bangalore is done based on NIFT entrance exam and you need to have passed 12^th with 50% or more to be eligible for selection.
