National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar, is a government institute for Fashion Education, established in 2004. NIFT Gandhinagar has been ranked 14th and 6th for Fashion Design by IIRF and India Today, respectively, in 2024.

NIFT Gandhinagar offers admission to B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, M.F.M, and PhD courses. NIFT Gandhinagar Admission is based on the NIFT Entrance Exam, a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Situation Test or Personal Interview, depending on the course. All the eligible candidates have to appear for the NIFT Entrance Exam that comprises of a General Ability Test (GAT) for all the UG and PG Programs, and also an additional Creative Ability Test (CAT) for B.Des and M.Des. Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

the prospectus stated that fashion design is a very holistic course which is why i opted for the course. they are a lot of other subjects you learn out of your major subject, we can choose an inter disciplinary major which will also partly give you knowledge of that course.

What are the internship opportunities in the campus?

i did my summer internship in jade blue ahmedabad, i was given the task of developing a fashion collection and was expected to design a full range of shirts and make their tech packs. the experience was very informative and i could apply all my knowledge to use.

Placement opportunities in various companies in the college

from 6th semester we are eligible for placement, it is mainly for graduation project but they also provide ppo to some students. some companies include retailers like tanishq, aditya birla retail, arvind and tata trent. almost around 80% students get placed every year. my plan after graduation is to work for a few years and then apply for masters.

Yearly fees structure of the course and scholarship

i am an NRI student. my fees in the beginning of the year was 8lacs per year and went on till 12lacs per year by end of the course. the fees for a general category student varies from 1lacs to 2lacs per semester. the fees structure includes tuition fees, exam fees , library fees and a mediclaim fees. it excludes canteen fees which is around 21500 per semester. there are scholarships provided but you have to have 8gpa every semester or else they will withdraw your scholarship.

Various events and celebrations in the college

there is annual festival called spectrum which is a 2 day event , there is an inter college competition called converge which happens every year where all centres of nift compete with each other. every festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the college. all the social groups are run by students and guided by the teachers in the student committee for cultural activities.

Faculty and examination pattern of the college

the faculty is very professional in the classroom , there is a batch of 45 students and one teacher. some teachers are readily accessible but some are a bit biased. vishal gupta sir is the best. there is no such faculty i didn't like. there 2 internal exams of each 30 marks, one mid term and end term assignment followed by end sem exam called jury which is of 40 marks. you need a minimum of 50% marks to pass the semester.

Admission process of the college and eligibility criteria

nift is on top in the list of fashion schools in india. alongside , i had also applied at NID ahmedabad but i did not get selected. i also applied for pearl academy in mumbai but they only provide a diploma degree which i did not want. the admissions process happens in 2 rounds, one is the aptitude test of 100 marks , which includes 70% of aptitude in drawing and 30% theory like quantitative analysis, logical reasoning and english comprehension. once you pass this round, there is round 2 called the situation test in which they provide material and a situation and you have to make a product . and once you clear that round, a merit list is announced and on the basis of your merit number, you get admission.

Night Life

there is no nightlife as such because it is in the outskirts of the main city ahmedabad. there are a lot of cafés in and around the campus , there is a starbucks , camilo coffee, a nature park, shopping malls , zudio. the locality is very safe for all students even in the night. the locals are very helpful and vigilant about the safety of students in their surroundings

I was very into designing from the last Covid time and really wanted to join 'National Institute of Design' or NID from my degree but i give the exam but haven't got selected in second round which was the studio test ,other than NIFT i also applied for UCEED and NATA basically architecture and design for both and also for JEE as I took PCM , but after the results NID doesn't have enough seats for general category and for architecture i was not sure as it was 5 years of course so I decided to opt for NIFT for bachelor of fashion technology qs it was new to me and i was really excited to explore this flied and I'm happy with the results and in academics im doin6 great taking equal oart in class assignments so overall i love this subject.

Admission:

Talking of my course it need pcm in 12th for eligibility to appear for the exam plus a good rank to get it into top 3 clgs , and about other colleges that i did apply for were pvt clgs so it doesnt make sence to go to pvt clg when u are getting into top 3rd clg in india , I did get accepted by a lot of clgs but i willingly choose this course

NIFT IS NOT ALL ABOUT GLAMOUR BUT HARDWORK

Admission:

I have applied for NIFT,NID, UCEED, UID(private college). I was not serious for taking the entrance exam of NID and UCEED since it does not offer the course I wanted but anyway I gave the test just for the experience but I did not get in. UCEED was difficult for me as it was more mathematics-based. I got into a private college- UID since the fees structure is expensive and considering their curriculum, I was not interested also I got into NIFT as well so I chose NIFT over UID because why not. Admission process for NIFT- it has its own exam process. There are two rounds that students need to clear to get into NIFT 1st round - GAT( general ability test) CAT( creative ability test) GAT has questions related to general knowledge, current affairs, mathematics, and english. Total of 100 questions more weightage is on english and then maths. 2 hours. It has 30% weightage CAT has total of 3-4 question related to design in which students need to complete these tasks in 3 hours. 30% weightage

I had not applied to many colleges as the college entrance exams were overlapping with the schedule for my pre boards and practicals. So for the NIft entrance exam i had joined a coaching online to guide me through the whole process. The entrance consists of three tests which you have to give. The first one is the Creative ability test (CAT) which consists of the drawing part of it. The second one is the General Ability Test (GAT) which consists of the logical reasoning and english as well as the english comprehensions and the general knowledge test. If you are able to clear the first two exams you are qualified to give the third exam which is the Situation test in which you are provided with a question and ypu have to design as well as prototype and make a model for it. Then as for the other exams i gave which was UCEED i think i did not make it as i was not able to give enough time to it for preparation which was needed as i had other things going on not to mention how tough the exam

WORLD OF NIFT GANDHINAGAR

Admission:

Every year the forms are released around september/october. Nift consists two rounds- CAT(drawing) and GAT(general aptitude) and once you clear these two round they conduct a last round called- SITUATION TEST( where they provide materials and topic on the spot and you have to make model right there at NIFT centers nearest you). Anyone who has completed their 10+2 can give the test Its a 4 year course for bachelors (B.Des) and 2 years course for masters (M.FM/M.Des). You have to give test for both. If you're an artisan you're given the top most priority. I think the only thing that they can improve is in making their website better as it has been legacy that is still continuing- when the results are out the website hangs and then it takes 1-2 days to get it fixed then they release the results again.

Nice college

Admission:

Graduation in any field of study. There is an application form for around 3000 rs. There is SC st and OBC quota which helps you in the time of selection process from all over India. I would like to see an improvement in the admission process is no updates on time. Helpline no never helps in terms of selection.
