NIFTEE 2027 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for NIFTEE 2027, you must fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by NTA for UG, PG, and PhD programs. There is no minimum percentage requirement to apply for NIFTEE 2027 and no age limit for master’s and PhD programs.
NIFTEE Eligibility Criteria for B.Des (Bachelor of Design)
- You should have passed or be appearing in Class 10+2 in any stream from a recognised central or state board.
- Equivalent qualifications include Senior Secondary from National Open School, IB, GCE A-Level, or an AIU-recognised qualification.
- There is no minimum percentage required. Passing Class 12 is enough.
- Age limit: You must be under 24 years of age as of August 1, 2027. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, a 5-year relaxation applies (under 29 years).
NIFTEE Eligibility Criteria for B.FTech (Bachelor of Fashion Technology)
- You should have passed or be appearing in Class 10+2 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
- A 3 or 4-year AICTE-recognised engineering diploma is also accepted.
- Age limit: Under 24 years as of August 1, 2027 (with the same SC/ST/PwD relaxation).

- You should have a bachelor's degree in Design or a 3-year UG design qualification from a recognised university.

NIFTEE 2027 registration will open at exams.nta.nic.in/niftee and is expected in December 2026. The registration is common for all 20 NIFT campuses and all programmes. NIFTEE 2027 Application Fee
The NIFTEE 2027 application fee is expected to follow the same structure as last year. Last year, NTA reduced the registration fee compared to 2025 by up to Rs 1,500.

A late fee of Rs 5,000 is charged if you apply after the regular deadline. Payment can be made online via debit card, credit card, UPI, or net banking. The applicant must bear bank charges. The fee is non-refundable once paid.

NIFTEE 2027 Admit Card

CAT in NIFTEE is the most important paper for B.Des - it carries 50% of the total weightage and is the main rank decider. The GAT, though lower in weightage, is important for competitive ranking among students who score similarly in the CAT.

NIFTEE 2027 Situation Test and Personal Interview (Stage 2)
After Stage 1 results are declared, shortlisted B.Des candidates are called for the Situation Test, and PG candidates appear for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Stage 2 is expected in April to June 2027. The Situation Test is a hands-on, 3-hour test where you have to create a 3D model from a set of provided materials based on a given design brief.
Situation Test (For B.Des)
- The duration of the test is 3 hours
- You will be given a set of raw materials (paper, thread, cloth, cardboard, etc.) and a design brief.
- You need to create a 3D model and a write-up explaining your design concept.
- The test evaluates spatial thinking, material handling, problem-solving, and innovative design ability.
- No marks are deducted for incomplete models - the concept and approach matter more.
Personal Interview / GD + PI (For PG Programmes - M.Des, M.FTech, MFM)
- For M.Des: Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) together carry 30% of the final merit.

Final Merit Calculation for B.Des
