IIT Roorkee MBA : Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

IIT Kanpur is one of the renowned institutes for pursuing an MBA, and it carries a positive brand image in the industry. IIT Kanpur is the best place for an MBA due to its well-structured curriculum, highly qualified faculty members, and excellent infrastructure.. 

Here are some highlights of pursuing an MBA from IIT Kanpur:

• Placements: According to the MBA placement report of 2023, the highest package was INR 24 LPA, the average package was INR 18.14 LPA, and the median package was INR 17.25 LPA. The top recruiters were Deloitte, PRAMATI, Digi International, Wells Fargo, etc.

These statistics demonstrate the positive industry reputation of the MBA program at IIT Kanpur. 

• Ranking: IIT Kanpur ranks 23rd among the top management institutions in India, as per NIRF 2023 Ranking. 

• Fee Structure: The MBA tuition fee at IIT Kanpur is INR 1.05 lakhs per semester for regular students. Thus, DoMS, IIT Kanpur is an ideal place to pursue an MBA. 

If I leave my biases towards Kashipur as a city aside. I would choose IIT Roorkee over IIM Kashipur.

Here are some reasons in support of my decision:- 

• Older IITs like Roorkee boast a longer legacy and are highly esteemed for imparting quality Management education. 
• The IIT brand that gets attached to you is an asset that shall forever remain worthy both inside and outside of India.
• IIT Roorkee is ranked 18th in the NIRF ranking while IIM Kashipur is at 19th.
• IIT Roorkee has a bigger campus size of 358 acres compared to IIM Kashipur’s 200 acres.
• MBA started at IIT Roorkee in 1998 while IIM Kashipur was established in 2011.
• IIT Roorkee has an Average Package of 18.3LPA with IIM Kashipur at 15LPA.

I was in the same position as you last year. I too had the same options for my Master and I chose IIT Roorkee due to the following reasons:-

• The IIT brand that gets attached to you is an asset that shall forever remain worthy.
• IIT has fees of 8 Lakhs compared to fees of 21 Lakhs for XIMB.
• IIT Roorkee is ranked 18th in the NIRF ranking while XIMB is ranked 46th.
• IIT Roorkee has an Average Package of 18.34 LPA while XIMB is at 19.53 LPA.
• MBA started at IIT Roorkee in 1998 while XIMB was established in 1987.
• IIT Roorkee has better infrastructure and a bigger campus of 358.5 acres.

College wise - IIT Roorkee > IIM Bodh Gaya > IIM Amritsar

I will chose IIT Roorkee due to the following reasons:-

• Older IITs like Roorkee boast a longer legacy and are highly esteemed for imparting quality Management education. 
• MBA started at IIT Roorkee in 1998 while both the IIM were established in 2015.
• IIT Roorkee has better infrastructure and has a bigger campus of 358.5 acres.
• IIT Roorkee is ranked 18th in the nirf ranking with IIM Amritsar at 51th and IIM Bodh Gaya at 53th.
• IIT Roorkee has an Average Package of 18.34 LPA with IIM Bodhgaya at 13.9 LPA and IIM Amritsar at 16.51 LPA.
