Placements are very good but as recession is hurting every job there is the placements have fallen down a bit.
The campus life is quite bad compared to other indian institute of technology because the infrastructure is quite old and bad here and appears dull tbh.
Mess food is also stupid bad, its affordable, at only 15k per semester, but the quality is really bad.

The IIT tag, the rich legacy and history, the buzzing campus life and a great friend circle are some of the aspects which I really like about IIT(BHU).
The regular conduction of fests, workshops on various domains, cultural and religious events, etc.
The extraordinary peer group, sharing space with some of the brightest minds of the country.

Dislikes

Lack of infrastructure - the shabby state of hostels, classrooms and roads. In our first year hostel, Three people were made to stay in a room which would barely accomodate two.
The open campus, which leads to unnecessary city traffic and clamour in the campus. The security is also compromised, with many cases of violence, theft and violation of female students.
The attitude of the non-teaching staff, administration. They are inclined against the students and constantly need to be protested against to keep in line.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The branch allotment in JOSAA counselling is on the basis of rank and not on the basis of interest or inclination of the student towards a particular course. I was allotted Chemical Engineering, and later got my branch changed to Electrical Engineering after the first semester. Each branch of Engineering is relevant for the overall development of the society and the curriculum here does keep that in mind, as far as I have observed in four semesters.

India's one of the best college for engineering.

Likes

Green campus is always beautiful and the environment of the campus is very nice .
our campus is a open campus and the very vast campus of about 1150acres. There is no rfestriction in our college, you can walk anywhere.
The campus has all the facilities like ZYMKHANA , SWIMMING POOL and 3 big sports ground.

Dislikes

Our campus is very old campus all lacks in construction of building .
As the campus is a open campus , the movement of outsider is more in the campus.
The security is not strict for the college students. The security cameras are not installed on every road and corners.

Placement of our college is good , almost 80 percent of students are placed in good companies each year. After 6th semester students are eligible in apperaing job interview. The highest package is 1.69 crore this year and the average package of college is 2300000 lakhs per anum. Almost 80 percent of students get placed this year and many of the students opted for masters and research intern in foreign countries. My plan after getting the degree is to opt for good package and work in big mnc.

Life of an IIT BHU student

Likes

Many ghats are here as it is a holy place and the temple is also very good
The culture in this campus is good and the curriculum is good
The friends here are also very good and the professors are very friendly

Dislikes

I didn't liked the food here very much but ok

Placement Experience:

The campus has very good placements. The average package is also very good. There are many companies that come to our college and there will be many opportunities in different different companies. In my branch mostly 98 percent gets placement

IIT (BHU) Varanasi - An Overview

Likes

The lush green campus, hostel life, faculties and less pressure atmosphere.
The sports facilities provided to the students are top class. Free medical help for all the students. Safe and secure campus.
The vibe of Kashi, the culture of Varanasi.

Dislikes

Many students may find the infrastructure a bit old but it gives an aesthetic vibe.
Open campus which allows anyone to enter anytime creating a lot of traffic and noise.
Ban on coke and soft drinks. Closing of stores at 7 PM.

100% placement for all the btech and integrated dual degree students. Students becomes eligible in their second last semester. And for internship in there 4th last semester. The highest package offered in 2023-24 batch is 1.68 crores domestic and 60 lakh international. I am planning to get a job and start preparing for some competitive exams.

IIT BHU kind of nice

Likes

Life is chill, sort of like the campus also, hostel life is fun.
Varanasi, Ghat and hanging out with friends.
music, inter iit and competitions like cp and other stuff

Dislikes

Campus could be better, not as good as other IITs.
But I generally dont go to class , so better LTs would not have really helped me

Placement Experience:

Placements are good bro, thats why people come to IIT BHU. Avg of 23 lpa this year for whole college, much better in CSE obviously, right now i dont know how much. Almost everyone gets placed here, companies offering lower than 7 lpa are notn allowed. HIghest was 1.68 cr in CSE in NK Securities

Libraray where all books are available.spacious .
Concerts where i enjoyed alit during fests.
Faculty at iit bhu who teaches well .Share notes before sem exams

Mess food is not upto level.not satisfied.
Seniors ragging.only opportunities for girls during intern in 2nd year of btech
Dogs,cats stay in our hostel .which causes disturbance

As there was recession period ,avg lpa was not at all good.my seniors were placed with good lpa in big campanies amazon uber,mastercard ola,qualcomm texas instruments,80 percent of students are placed .I aim upsc after I get graduated

Very kind staff and lushed green campus everywhere
Every basic facilities like night canteen, laundry services are available at doorstep

Dislikes

Is that our campus is open any one can enter and can do anything
This is no tight security in the campus, cctvs didn't work
And campus is very large 1300 acres and we have to travel q lot

Placement is best in the whole state. From the 7th semester, companies start visiting our college. Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Infosys, etc all the top companies come to our college and give 1100+ offers. The highest package is 1. 63 cr and the lowest is 8 lakhs. About 90 percent of students are placed every year. I plan to get a job in my dream company after my degree.

IIT BHU ain't that bad.

Likes

Campus Environment is great. Feels peaceful to walk.
Assi Ghat is just 3 km away from our hostels.
Professors are well qualified and dedicated.

Dislikes

Safety Concerns due to open campus of BHU.
Distance between Hostel and the lecture theatres is almost a kilometre.
Old Infrastructure due to its 100 yrs of construction.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum of Mining Engineering is more towards practicality. The professors are more focused towards the real life applications of mining. They are among the best in their fields with a great amount of field experiences too

The clubs in IIT BHU , they are very active , you can interact with like minded people discuss your ideas. Like cops, bizz, robotics, ecell
Campus life over here. You can go to library till 1 am at night. Guard are always there.
Sports facilities in iit is very good. I really like spardha our annual sports fest where different colleges participate

Dislikes

I think the competition you face after coming here is too much. Sometimes it becomes tough for students to handle also.
Mess food after 1-1.5 months. It becomes unbearable especially lunch. Most of the times students skip lunch and eat from hostel canteen.
I would say clubs over here selects you on the basis of your knowledge rather than teaching you and then conducting selections.

Placement Experience:

IIT Bhu has good average package. So on campus placement is good like other top 8 iits. For campus placement you have to sit in 7th semester but sometimes students get pre placement offer from the companies they did internship in. Companies like amazon , google, uber , salesforce , oracle comes for placement. Highest package for this year is 1 cr + and lowest is 7lacks. Almost 80 % got places , 1000 offers were there and other opted for higher studies. I plan to sat for campus placement in sde role

My review of IIT BHU will be based on some very common parameters.

Infrastructure: The academic buildings are not air-conditioned and are equipped with obsolete instruments. The hostels are surrounded by natural beauty but the living conditions are pathetic with cramped rooms and dirty toilets. The poor LAN connections are a major major problem here.
Faculty: The faculty again is very disappointing. some even lack basic knowledge and some are too arrogant to guide the students. The answer sheets are checked in a disorganized way and the pedagogy adopted is old school. So here, you will have to completely depend on self-study.
Research: The majority of the faculty focuses on administrative tasks and fails to encourage students to research work. The institute has no globally recognized research work to date.
Facilities: The library has poorly organized books and lacks good study material. The LAN network is another major issue faced by students here. The departments are closed by 6 ok and the library is locked by 10 pm. This is a major hindrance during exams.
Campus life: The frequent student activities make the campus life of IIT BHU lively and dynamic. A number of activities are organized in IIT-Gymkhana by the students and Kashi Yatra is the annual cultural festival of the institute. There are amazing sports facilities like huge grounds and fields for Cricket, Football, Badminton, and Tennis.
Placements: IIT BHU has one of the best placements among the top IITs. Currently, IIT Bhu Placements 2023 is being held and around 474 offers and 305 PPOs have been made. IIT BHU's highest CTC was recorded at INR 1.2 CPA. A total of 117 recruiters took part in IIT BHU Placements 2023. Top recruiters included Airbnb India, Uber, Microsoft, Accenture, Piramal, etc. Last year the highest CTC stood at INR 2.05 CPA which was offered by UBER.

Overall, IIT BHU is a great choice if you are willing to sacrifice the hostel conditions and self-study.

What are the changes that took place in the college after IT-BHU got converted into IIT BHU?

My friend was a student at IIT BHU and he witnessed a number of changes as the IT BHU got converted into IIT BHU.

The Vishwakarma hostel became a 3 storied building
Kashi yatra, the annual socio-cultural festival of IIT(BHU) Varanasi stayed open till 10.
The grading system first changed to absolute from relative and then finally back to relative grading.
Mid-semester tests were introduced in place of class tests.
One of the sandwich shops became a complete multi-storied restaurant.
The Chemical Engineering department was updated in many ways.
The students were no longer allotted single rooms.
The campus facilities were improved including the Internet connections.
The 90 % attendance rule was introduced.
The institute got 3 new directors.

These were some of the changes my friend witnessed after the IT BHU got transformed into IIT BHU.

My friend is an alumnus of IIT-BHU and he was a member of the Kashi Utkarsh too. He claims the organization is doing really well in eradicating the prevalent social constraints through the collective efforts of the group. The body convinces the financially weak families living in Varanasi slums to send their children to schools with the help of KU funding.

As easy as this may sound, the actual process is very tiring. The families are hell-bent against education and persuading them is a big task. The relentless efforts of the team members of KU and their compassion to serve the weak have brought massive changes in society.

However, some students of the institute don’t give KU the respect they deserve and are not ready to spend a single penny claiming that KU pockets the funds themselves.

If you visit the social media handles of the KU members, you will find a list of children who get into the formal education system along with their school fees being paid by KU. Dictionary the constant assistance from professors like Prof. Ashim Mukherjee with KU helps KU stay strong.

Pharmaceutical Society and Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology, IIT (BHU) organize the Nation's largest pharmaceutical fest-SPIRIT.

SPIRIT is an annual fest of pharmaceutical engineering & Tech. branch of IIT(BHU). It is a national level event where pass out students can also participate. Pharma and medical enthusiasts from the country come together in this two-day fest to encapture new ideas and innovations to bring out the best of the participants. There are many competitions where you can compete to share and gain knowledge and ideas. Workshops and seminars are also organized. IIT(BHU) is the only IIT having a pharma branch, that's why it is the best college of pharma. The Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology, IIT (BHU) was established in 1932.
