I am an obc candidate and my father income is less than 5 lakhs so for every semester I have paid 39865 for college and approx 15000 for mess per semester . Fees is not increasing every year . Our college also provide scholarship like up scholarship and many other for sc , st candidates.My friend is from general background his tution fees for every semester is 1 lakhs and his mess fees is 15k like me. Sc ,st candidates have to pay 6k as tution fees for every semester and 15 k as mess fees.

College culture at IIT BHU Varanasi

Fees and Financial Aid:

The yearly academic fee is around 2,12,000 and there is a hostel and mess fee of 30,000 per year. For students belonging to categorise other than general, the fee is much lesser. There are multiple scholarships available for students having low family income, funded by the college and it's alumni.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The tuition fee per semester is INR 1 Lac and other charges (incl. hostel) is INR 6350. The Mess charge per semester is INR 15000. So, the net fees per semester is about INR 121350. Being an IIT, one can easily avail for education loans. There are also several scholarship programs available for the students who need it. Fee hikes are less frequent and fee increase in not too much.

IIT BHU is well-recognized nationwide for offering excellent academic standards and research opportunities that help students grow careers.
IIT BHU offers four four-year BTech programs for CSE, and the average fee for the first year is around INR 2.27 LPA.
IIT BHU offers one of the best placements to the students amongst the IITs.
In 2023 474 offers and 305 PPOs were made.
The domestic highest package is INR 1.68 CPA and the international highest package is INR 77 LPA.

CSE in IIT BHU is good. The institute has one of the largest alumni bases for the CSE branch in the country. The placement averages around 100% for CSE students. The domestic average salary package for the branch is 25 LPA. The placement statistics of CSE in IIT BHU are comparable to the top 7 IITs in the country.

The coding culture on campus is quite active. The programming club holds workshops and competitions around the academic year. Since academics aren’t that demanding at IIT BHU, you will get enough time to pursue other technical and co-curricular activities.

The only major drawback is the high fees for which you can seek assistance from the institute regarding scholarships.

It's difficult for me to say whether choosing IIT Guwahati CSE over IIT Varanasi CSE was a mistake without more information about your specific circumstances and goals. Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Varanasi are highly respected institutions, and both offer strong Computer Science programs that are rightly comparable in almost every aspect.

The placement scenario is similarly decent at both institutes with very little emphasis on research. The active Coding Club/ CSEA at IIT Guwahati gives it a slight edge over others. Both the institutes are excellent choices for whatever you want to do after graduation be it research, open source development, or a stable job.

The only distinguishing feature is the weather as IIT Guwahati has better weather conditions than IIT BHU. However, this flaw is compensated by better connectivity of Varanasi being on the mainland.

Course structure: IIT Guwahati’s MnC program has a well-structured curriculum with the perfect blend of Computer Science, finance, and Mathematics courses. IIT BHU CSE too is known for its flexible course structure with a plethora of electives to choose from.

Every IIT has that handful of students who took up an average branch under the pretext of changing their branch in the future. If you are one of them and are seeking guidance in the same, this answer is for you. I won't mention any complex strategies and will stick to the basics
Attend your classes: Many IITians underestimate lectures and tend to either skip them or pay no attention during classes. Trust me attending classes makes a whole lot of difference that can be felt during exams.
Go to Tutorials: Students consider this childish and don't go to tutorials considering them useless. However, this will bring a big change too.
Revise regularly: Lastly, whatever you study, revise it regularly or your efforts will go in vain.

Many seniors may advise you that grades aren't that important, don't pay heed to them. Grades are very crucial for a branch manager don't let them make you believe otherwise. Lastly, be sincere towards your goal and stay committed to it.

CSE branch is a major crowd-puller but trust me any branch taken up at IITs is better than other technical institutes. The branch is temporary but the tag you will be getting is permanent and will stay with you forever.
