The clubs/communities here are amazing. Be it photography, videography, public speaking, wellbeing, coding, dancing ,acting, music and many more. we have clubs for everything.
The seniors are encouraging and you can get help in improving your skills from them.
There is no ragging. And you can complain if you experience such things.

Dislikes

The gender ratio is poor. Female candidates are too less as compared to males
Some professors are not up to the par. They do have knowledge but dont teach so good.
The hostels and mess food needs huge quality improvement

Placement Experience:

On-campus placement rounds are held in the first semester of your final year. Many companies visit the campus for hiring including Schlumberger, ONGC, etc. According to 2023 placement data, 81.89% of students who applied for on-campus placement got placed. The average package was 16.9 lakh and the median was 13.6 lakh. The highest CTC offered was 55.7 lakh.

Glorious ISM

Central Library at IIT ISM Dhanbad, with lots of not only books, but types of seating arrangements, which can also help you if you are sleepy.
Branch Change easier than most other IITs
Petroleum Branch of IIT ISM, is a low opening rank branch that has potential equivalent to CS branch

Dislikes

Over strictness of the administration, which helps maintain discipline, is just too rude at times
Hostel rooms are not cleaned regularly, and it's our responsibility to do so, whereas vaccum cleaner is run on the floors
Lift doesn't work for most part of the year in boys hostel

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Mining Engineering course at IIT ISM Dhanbad ranks 1 in India. This special fact opens up a nice enough choice for those students who just missed four digit rank in JEE Advanced because of a few silly mistakes(for the gen. category). The above two reasons mainly led me to choose IIT ISM Mining without regrets. There are a lot of vacant spaces for new professors, and the faculty: student ratio could be improved. Most faculties over here are highly qualified individuals irrespective of their teaching styles. I admit that the teaching methodology of some professors could be improved, but when it comes to the things under the control of college authority things were good enough. Exams were very timely, and most importantly adjustable as well, as per the needs of the students and professors. Passing was easy, whereas for 9+ CGPA efforts were needed.

Likes

Campus was good and all the facilities are available in the campus.
Seniors are good and helpful and help in any type of trouble.
Placement are good and package are also good.

Dislikes

The curfew timing of the college are 12 am to 5 am that is not good.
The hostel condition are not good in first and final year.
The administration is so strict and not in students favour some time.

Placement Experience:

The placement come in college in the 8th semister and the placement was good in my college all the companies visit in college and the maximum domestic package given by a company is 50 lac and the average package is 20 lac and the placement percentage is around 80.

IIT ISM DHANBAD inside out

Likes

Sports because our college have two large ground for outdoor game and one student activities Centre for indoor games.
I also like the greenery of our campus..it's provided as so much peace in exam season.
The tech clubs ..here you acn explore almost every tech field and you will get to know about the field that decide your future.

Dislikes

The maingate restrictions is the one thing that I hate most ..we are only allowed to 10pm outside the campus.
The regional politics... it's make me feel uncomfortable most of the time.
The most common thing..the one and only 75© attendance criteria

Placement Experience:

For campus placement, only 4th-year students or we can say that 7th sem students have to register for it and their interview will happen when they are in 8th sem. And IIT is great in most of the branches. if you are a hardworking person you will confirm get a job.

IIT(ISM)-Dhanbad - A British era IIT.

Likes

Brilliant lush green campus, IIT tag, excellent placements and very nice peer group, and descent infrastructure.
Very nice and promoting environment for extra-curricular activities and sports enthusiats.

Dislikes

Lack of eating outlets and cafes inside the campus.
The city of Dhanbad is not so developed, hence sometimes it feels lack of options to go out and enjoy some lavish facilities.

Placement Experience:

As it's an old IIT, hence campus placements are awesome without any doubt. From the third year onwards the students are required to do internship programmes and it's college sponsored. Many bag PPO's during it, and generally, the placement starts from the beginning of the 4th year. This year 1049 job offers were given out of which 1014 were accepted, with an average package of 17.69lpa and a highest domestic package of 56lpa. Various top companies like Amazon, Uber, Barclays, Microsoft, Zomato, Unacademy, etc. visit and recruit from the campus. The college is famous for its placements in PSU's like ONGC, Coal India, GAIL, etc. and thus many students even got recruited there. My plans are not placement oriented, I want to go for higher studies or management studies.

In the final year and the 7th semester we have eligible for campus placement there are many big companies who visited Google Amazon ONGC cairn oil and Gas Schlumberger and many other 100 companies visited the campus.

Technical and cultural fest every year including some branch fests.

Dislikes

Teaching without books, with PDFs is not good
female to male ratio is is very less in every branch
Canteen and other facilities for personnel works like saloon and kiranams

Placement Experience:

Placements of our college is very good with 90+ percent. From the 7th semester, the students are eligible for campus placement. Mostly companies offer SDE, Analyst, consultancy profiles for students and highest package is from 45 to 50 lpa and average is 12 lpa. I don't have any plans just to get placed in a company.

I am in my first year only.

Likes

Campus beauty, life, alumni network, seniors, professors, hostel Life and club activities.
Placement statistics are phenomenal and experience almost all tech companies recruiting on campus.
Infrastructure is excellent. There is a great passion for innovation in both students and professors of the college.

Dislikes

Every lecture hall is not air conditioned and it is very heated up in summers.
Mess does not provide sprouts on a regular basis.

Placement Experience:

Placement statistics are excellent with highest package of 1 cr+. Students become eligible for campus placements from the seventh semester. Giant companies like Google, Arista networks, Microsoft, Reliance, Amazon, Adobe, etc are some of the recruiters. The highest package is INR 1cr and the average is approximately 20 lakhs per annum. 97%of the students are placed. I will be working as a software engineer in a big tech company after pursuing my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

IIT(ISM) Dhanbad: A complete unbiased review

Environment, Campus greenery, Library, Hostel, Faculty, fellow students
Infrastructure is brilliant, there is literally everything you need present inside the campus
Campus Life is amazing, you can chill with friends, play different games like cricket etc

Dislikes

Time restrictions are there on campus main gate, you can't enter gate after 10 pm in night
There is nothing as such that I dislike about my college
Sometimes syllabus is too much and could stress a few students

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus Placements. All big companies like Google(10 offers), Microsoft (15 offers), Sprinkle(12 Offers), Amazon (16 Offers), Flipkart ( 5 offers), Goldman Sachs ( 7 offers), American Express ( 8 offers) etc. come to IIT ISM Dhanbad. The highest package was 55 lakhs by DE Shaw in the Software engineer profile, the average package was around 20 Lakhs in other profiles like analyst, consultant etc More than 91 Percent got placed. My Plans after my degree are to get a good placement and work in my dream company

On-campus placements are provided to pretty much everyone in the college. With one of the highest percentages of students getting placed, yet the average CTC offered is not up to loving standards, a lot of students opt for higher studies and IAS preparation after college.

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar.
