The infrastructure and the facilities provided by the coleege is very good . Proper full fledged lab are avaluable for reasearch related activities. Also experienced professors are avaliable.
Apart from academics the sports facilities and other activities facilities are also avaliablee. A cricket ground,football ground, athletics ground,badminton court ,basketball, voleyball,tennis,squash etc are avaliable with experience coach.
The grrenery of the campus is very good.There are many tress planted across the campus which gives ut a vibrance look and also a grat experinece.

Dislikes

The hostel management is not so good.The management like cycle stand is not avaliable .The lift avaliable in the hostel are most of the time out of service
The food provided by the mess is not so good. For the first few days anyone can eat properly but after thaat the food taste and quality detoriate drastically.
The very hectic scjedule of first year. There are 4 classes of 1hr each and 1 lab of 3 hr sechduled per day .This makes the first year very hectic and busy.

Placement Experience:

The placement season starts during 7th semester when various companies come to camous to recruit students. Top companies such as google, amazon,microsoft, coal india, texas instumentation, ONGC etc visits the campus for recruirment. Around 60 -70 percent of the students get placed every year. The highest package from the camous was about 1cr . And the average package of the college was about 15-16 lakhs Apart from the capmus placement many students apply for off campus placement for which also tge college helps.

Placement Experience:

There is a great opportunity for internships and placement in campus. There are two seasons one is dedicated for internships for 3rd year students and for 4th year dual degree students and one is for dedicated for placements,both seasons contains many online test and interview which are taken by company officials and if you want to do in the core sector it's also amazing as many of the companies that came in core sector there higher officials are our college alumni that's why it give edge in everything.

I think the college are good and i aspects of the college that appreciated.
Campus life is good, environment is very good here, seniors are very helpful here.
The Faculty's are good and very good teaching skills.

There is one new system in ism known as mis it is a hassle free system for all my credits and everything about me
The infrastructure is quite good the main heritage building is beautiful
The campus life is good the weather here is also good

Dislikes

Now there is no longer the branch change option which I disliked
Not every class is ac centralized and there is too much heat
In the hostel there are many insects and mosquitoes which is very problematic

All a BTech student needs to know about IIT(ISM) Dhanbad.

Likes

Examinations are less and thus leaves us time to upskill ourselves.
Campups is large enough, it's green and not too large to be exhausting

Dislikes

Quality of some courses and faculties are below IIT level
Campus maintanance is below par, there is lack of some infrastructure

Placement Experience:

In the undergraduate, Bachelor of Technology program, the students can participate in the placement activities in their last year, from the 7th semester. Where the placement cell of the college takes care of all opportunities, tests, and interviews. Most companies have various requirements to be able to appear for their test. Some require being in a certain stream, and having a minimum grade. The petroleum and computer science stream secures the highest placements, where packages go up to 1 crore for packages abroad. These streams also have around 100% placements. Most companies coming for placement seek students in the software field, but there are some companies for core placements. Around 40% of students get places on campus. I plan to do my PG after this course.

Inside of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

Likes

IIT(ISM) Dhanbad has beautiful campus. It has Asia's largest library.
Center of attraction is Heritage Building.
Sports facilities are also good. Seperate gym for boys and girls.

Dislikes

Mess food quality is not good.Library is not avaliable 24*7.
Night out is not allowed. You are allowed to go outside college after 10 PM
Wifi quality is also not good. It turns off anytime Even during internship season

Internship offers start for students after the 4th semester and placement starts after 6th semester. You may also get a Pre-placement offer from the company where you intern. Last year, the highest CTC offered for CSE was 55.51 LPA with a 91% placement ratio.

An old yet new IIT

Likes

The campus is very beautiful and cleanliness is maintained all across the campus. Since it is an old campus still it's beauty impressed me.
There are facilities of all the sports that you can even think of in the campus including swimming squash hockey cricket and many others.
The extra curriculars also include the various clubs which broadly covers all the activities whether it is technical or cultural.

Dislikes

The main thing that most students dislike is the hostel and campus in timings. The hostel in timings is 12-1 am and campus in timings is 10 pm.
Dhanbad city is not so developed and we can't learn much from outside the campus. so outside campus learnings are almost zero.

The campus placements are pretty decent. On campus many companies come and recruit. Almost 70-80 percent students were placed in last year even though there was recession in the market. Total 909 offers were made by the 204 companies that visited the campus. The highest package was 59 lakhs. Major companies such as Google, Amazon,oracle,Goldman sachs,texas instrumentation, tata steel limited and many others, total of 204 companies visited the campus. Average package was 16.45 for the year 2024 and 16.98 for 2023. After getting the degree I will sit for placements and will try to get placed in a good company. After 5 semesters you can do interns and you may get pre placement offers at that time to. In 7 and 8 semester you can sit for placements but most companies come after the 7th semester before the beginning of 8th semester in the month of December.

Journey of IIT Dhanbad

Likes

Good college life , as mining student placement in core mining is almost guaranteed
Nice infrastructure, slightly small ,but good peeps
Nice seniors but small interactions problem specially in first year but now things are changing overtime

Dislikes

Ragging the mental pressure during first and second year
Professors are conservative and system of attendance is very strict like someone got in accedent still they were asked to drop the semester
You can see heavy regionalism here mainly becoz of so many people from east india here

Placement Experience:

Our placements are better than other colleges but not as good as other iits also due to recession the placement have declined this year , as for me I have secondary choice to prepare for gate as core companies like cil don't come to campus placement and we have to crack gate which easier for my branch as it is a rare branch in india

IIT ISM DHANBAD Review (Honest)

Likes

The senior junior bonding is really good. Seniors help their juniors a lot.
The hostels for 2nd and 3rd year is of really good quality.
There are ample opportunities to prove yourself

Dislikes

Sometimes the professors are rude and misbehaving.
The ISM culture of calling senior Sir/Ma'am
The ease with which animals are allowed anywhere

Placement Experience:

Placements are okay, we have nearly 50-70% placements this year. Students are eligible for placements from 4 th Year. Average placement package in my branch is around 10 lakh PA, highest being around 20 LPA. I plan to do masters after my bachlor's degree.

Likes

I like the teaching faculty and facilities
cultural events which are atleast for every two months.
I like freedom given to a student to think outside box .

Dislikes

I don't like the food .Because as i came from south India i don't prefer north food .
I don't like classes timetable .Most of days classes start from 8:00am, Which i don't like .

Placement Experience:

-> Placements are very good in this year and in the previous year , inspite of recission our seniors got good placements. -> around 200+ companies will visit this college and they offer around 900+ offers. -> highest package is 52lakhs for cse profile and least is 6 lakhs mining profile. -> around 80% students get placed. -> my plan is to do job in machine learning field.

Which one is better, IIT Dhanbad for ECE or IIT Bhubaneswar for electrical?

IIT Dhanbad ranks 15th among the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is a much older establishment than IIT Bhubaneswar. The fee structure for BTech in ECE at IIT Dhanbad is 2,30,120 for one year. It Requires a JEE ranking of 3000-10000 for ECE. The ECE department of IIT Dhanbad has seen 60% placement of students with an average annual salary package of 15 lakhs per annum and highest being 39 lakhs per annum. IIT Dhanbad has a total of 332 faculty members who are highly qualified and experienced members. Out of total, 315 members are Ph.D. holders.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs. The students with JEE ranking between 2000-7000 are eligible for Electrical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 has seen 89% placement in the Civil Engineering Department with an average annual salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, 39 lakhs per annum being the highest. IIT Bhubaneswar has a total of 145 faculty members who are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders. IIT Bhubaneswar has 2 hostels for boys and girls each. It also has Shopping Complex, Healthcare centers, gym, Sports grounds and courts, Common rooms, Media entertainment rooms, ATMs, etc.

Thus, IIT Dhanbad will be a better option to study ECE than Electrical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar because, Being one of the oldest established IITs, IIT Dhanbad is known for its quality of education and their campus life. It also has better and more experienced faculty members.
