IIT Gandhinagar Early Admit PhD application portal is closed now. The admission procedure for students who applied before January 14, 2022 is complete now. The list of candidates shortlisted for final admissions has been announced by the institute. The admission procedure for students who applied after January 14, 2022 will begin now. Candidates who have successfully filled the application forms will now be shortlisted for the interview round. The PI shortlist will be announced on March 17, 2022. The interview rounds scheduled for such candidates is from March 21-27.

IIT Gandhinagar offers “Start Early PhD” fellowship to students who are exceptionally qualified. Candidates with good academic records in the B.Tech program can apply for the program and the selected candidates are also given additional financial support from the selected college.

• GATE score is not mandatory for admission.
• Candidates are encouraged to appear for GATE examination to receive an extra stipend rate.
• Candidates with or without GATE score will receive monthly stipend in the following manner:
  • With GATE score: INR 41,000
  • Without GATE score: INR 31,000
• Travel support of upto INR 2 Lacs for the international conferences.

IIT Gandhinagar Start Early PhD Eligibility 

Candidates with a B.Tech degree from NIT and IIT can apply for the early PhD program at IIT Gandhinagar, the eligibility criteria for the same is as follows:

• B.Tech students from NIT who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 holding a position in top 5 students in the department.
• IIT B.Tech graduates with 6.0 CPI/ CGPA at the end of their 3rd and 4th year.

IIT Gandhinagar Start Early Ph.D. Fellowship

IIT Gandhinagar offers full-time residential Start Early Ph.D. Fellowship. This fellowship enables budding engineers to gain early entry into the Ph.D. programmes at IIT Gandhinagar.

• GATE score is not compulsory for Start Early Ph.D. Fellowship
• Monthly stipend of INR 41,000/- per month with valid GATE score and INR 31,000/- per month without GATE score
• There is no application fee for applying to this Fellowship.
• The application portal for Start Early Ph.D. open in the month of July.
