08 Sep, 2025 NIRF Ranking 2025 has been released on September 4, 2025. IIT Gandhinagar secured the following positions:

#39 out of 200 under “Overall Category”

#25 out of 300 colleges under “Engineering Category”

IIT Gandhinagar is one of the five top technical Institutes in Gujarat that has been ranked by various important agencies not only at the national level but also on the global level. In the NIRF Rankings 2022, IIT Gandhinagar has secured its rank in two categories of NIRF Rankings i.e. 23rd position in the Engineering Category and 37th position in the Overall Category 2022. Apart from these, IIT Gandhinagar is also ranked by various other ranking agencies such as Outlook-ICARE Engineering Rankings, India Today Rankings etc. Recently, IIT Gandhinagar has been placed in the rank band of 601-800th by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 and 2021.

Life in IITGN

Likes

The professor are good with providing good mentorship and their flexible course structure with each teacher have their own way of distributing the grades makes it easy and reduces the load to score all at one by just exam.
The campus life is so lively and bright with every day with some events organising for fun and indulging in celebration of every festivals
The campus students lives with their with no restriction and in h,igh security and people still roaming around till 3 am at night , no one will feel scared or lonely.

Dislikes

The placement oppurtunity is less for masters students than Btech

I haven't applied for campus placements as I am planning for PhD so didn't have much idea about placements. but out of the total percentage of student 60% of the students are getting placed. It also provide fellowship for 1 year , conference, reasearch, student exchange in abroad funded by the institutes and depend on your department professor. Health care facilities and educational loan can be prevail from institute.

From Campus Life to Academics: My insights into IIT Gandhinagar

IIT Gandhinagar has a high-tech campus. AC are fitted in each and every room. Lights are automated everywhere. Every floor of the hostel a kitchen room for students which have a induction cooker, microwave oven and a fridge.
Instructors are very active here. All teachers try their best because college takes review of the teachers from the students at the end of the semester. It provides course of History, film making, biology to give it's students a taste of every field
I personally likes the sports facilities of the college the most. It has a big football and cricket ground. Many indoors courts for game like volley, basketball, badminton, etc. It has a indoor swimming pool and a fully air conditioned gym.

Dislikes

There is network problem in this area. If you just want network just for internet this is not a problem because wi-fi is there but during calling sometimes sound lags.
First year students has to attend PE classes with a min attendance of 80% and 2nd year students have to attend PE with min attendance of 50%.
The celebration here are not so tempting as of college like IITB. I find ganeshpuja, navratri, etc very dull.

Internships Opportunities:

One of the committee named CDS brings companies like Amazon, Bharat Electronics Ltd to college. Also you will be always updated about off-campus internship available through mail. IIT Gandhinagar itself provides an research internship - SRIP (Summer Research Internship Program). It gives a stiped of Rs. 2000/week for a minimum of 8 weeks.

Insight of IIT Gandhinagar

Likes

The Campus is very beautiful and spread over 400 Acres.
The sports availability is very good as there's sports complex having most indoor courts and available of coaches for every game.
The first class Library as it full of books and available 24 hours for self study and having separate group discussion rooms also.

Dislikes

Lesser availablity of transport from college to nearby market.
Morning PE classes for 1st year student (80% attendance) and for 2nd year (50%).

There's a good opportunity for internship also. As somebody can get internship in tech areas as well as in his/her core branch. At the end IIT Gandhinagar's placement and intership isn't as good as Tier one IITs but it's far better that any government engineer college and most of the NITs and remaining IITs.

When you come for placement with enjoyment and memories then this is place for you.

Likes

Sports complex inside college which has all sports it infra is amazing
Library it is the well furnished library with acs everywhere and good infra
Overall you will love the infrastructure of college.

Dislikes

I dislike the 4 sharing room in first year.

Placement Experience:

The college provide good placement in my department Of computer science and engineering the college provide 98% students placed with an avg CTC 29lpa. Highest is 80 lpa which is incampus placement in Atlassian.

IIT Gandhinagar: Is a second-gen IIT worth it

Likes

Very great campus which provides a lot of freedom to students in choosing their career feilds
Campus has less strength which makes opportunities accessible to all students
Sports complex is very amazing with professional coaches

Dislikes

Management is quite strict regarding student run activities
Refund money take a lot of time to process.
Literally the whole campus is awake till 4 am in the morning

Internships Opportunities:

Internship opportunities are quite good for CSE students, but very few companies come for core branches. Companies like DE Shaw, Google, Barclays, Skan AI , Dev Rev, JSW and Texas instruments visit the campus during the internship cycle and mostly offer technical role.

Awesome hostels, Supportive Faculty, Modern Infrastructure, Moderate Placements, and Quality Mess Food

Likes

The hostels are well maintained, neat and clean. each floor has a pantry equipped with an induction stove, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and a water cooler.
The sports facilites at IITGN are world-class. The sports facilities includes all indoor and outdoor sports. It also jhas an Olympic-sized aswimming pool.
At IITGN, there are no restrictions on hostel timings, and we can move between hostels at any time.

Dislikes

Mathematics faculty at IITGN is truly remarkable. They are not only experts in their field but also passionate about teaching and helping students grow But No. of mathematics professor is 12 which is less.
Fests that are organized are comparitively less than old IITs.
Here girls to boys ratio is about 1:3. As in 12 hostels there are only 4 hostels for girls.

At IITGN, M.Sc. Mathematics students who got internship are low, and the students who get internships are mostly working on projects under professors at other colleges and universities. In summer break (may to july) only 8 students out of 40 of our class got internship.

Campus - The campus is very good and green. Lots of Flora and fauna is there
Mess Food - Mess food is fssai 5 star rated and is very good.
Culture - The culture of the institute is very good

Internships Opportunities:

The name of companies that visited our campus include: DE Shaw Devrev Samsung R&D Qualcomm Trading Technologies Skan AI Google Barclays Decimal Point Analytics Texas Instruments Nvidia There were Online assessments and then two round of offline/ online (virtual) Interview for almost all the companies. The companies offered stipend ranging from 50000 to 150000 per month.

IIT Gandhinagar from the eyes of a First Year

Likes

The Sports Complex is a major highlight of IIT Gandhinagar.
The Campus Amenities are top notch and it is a fully green Campus.
Faculties are Expert in their Respective Fields and teach very well.

Dislikes

The Course Load is very High and you will get very less free Time.
The Exams are quite challenging and you have to keep thinking out of the box.
Some lectures such as World Civilization and Cultures are very boring.

Internships Opportunities:

There are over 50 companies which have given Internships in our college which includes Barclays, Google, Oracle, Texas Instruments, etc. These Top Companies give Stipend of over 1 Lakh per month for Summer Internships. I am a First Year Student so I have not got an internship yet.

I like the hostels and the campus its very green and clean
the friend circle, all of them are very different and creative as they belong to different part of India hence networking
the facilities of labs and professors help they provide is also great

Dislikes

as the batch intake is very less there is not very club culture over here
alumni network is also not that strong as the number of pass out is very less
PLACEMENT over here is also not that great as cse branch had been introduced over here in the recent years

Internships Opportunities:

internships are also provided at the start of the third year which is mostly in the IT sector, the highest stipend is 1,50,000 and lowest is also unpaid. core internships are also very less, but academic internships are great as the college has tie-up with many foreign colleges.

Likes

The quality of education and experience you gain from your professors is amazing.
The sports activities and other cultural fests are very enthusiastic.
The placement record is also very nice and improving every year.

Dislikes

The workload or course curriculam is slightly higher in core fields.

Internships Opportunities:

You have to look for the companies for intership by yourself. Or you can choose a short new research project to work upon on your last semester and you can even publish your work in some good journals. Also you can learn a new software to enhance your profile.
