DAIICT, Gandhinagar Comparison

My JEE Mains rank was good enough to get me a seat at SVNIT for B.Tech CSE. I finally decided to join ICT at DAIICT because-

1. The faculty members have completed their Phds from renowned Indian and foreign universities, and each of them are actively engaged in some research work.
2. The course curriculum is regularly updated, unlike the NITs that keep on teaching the old curriculum for long periods of time without regular updates.
3. ICT is a combination of CSE and ECE. So its curriculum is very broad and rich. This is the reason why more companies prefer DAIICT over SVNIT.
4. Only about 360 students are selected for the B.Tech program of DAIICT every year. This speaks volumes about the quality of students on campus. 
5. A good number of DAIICT students are selected for GSoC.
6. The coding culture is at par with IIIT Hyderabad and top IITs. DAIICT students go on to become ACM ICPC finalists. The environment is perfect for competitive coding, and the students are doing really well on popular competitive coding platforms like Hackerrank.
7. The clubs and societies of DAIICT are very active. There is an IEEE Student branch, with IAS (Industry Applications Society) chapter.
8. There are special interest groups for machine learning, mobile apps, artificial intelligence, etc. There are technical clubs like Programming club, Google Developers Group, Microsoft Students Technical Club, Webkit, etc.
9. Some of the non technical clubs are- the Debate club, the Press club, the Dance club, the Music club, and more.
10. The SBG-Student Body Government is a mediator between the administration and the student community. The seniors of SBG are very friendly and helpful. They can be approached with any problem.
11.  Like SVNIT, the DAIICT campus is also ragging free and very safe for juniors. 

I would recommend you opt for ICT at DAIICT Gandhinagar.

I am a resident of Surat, and SVNIT is very close to my house. During my college admissions, I was in the same dilemma. So I spent about a week at both the colleges to make a more informed choice.

One of the professors at SVNIT suggested that I opt for B.Tech ICT at DAIICT over Computer Engineering at SVNIT. He told me that DAIICT is a better option for computer related branches. Here are some pros of joining DAIICT as a B.Tech ICT student-

1. The placements at DAIICT are comparatively better.
2. Though the NITs have an established brand name, the reputation of DAIICT is better than SVNIT in top companies like Amazon, Morgan Stanley, MAQ, etc.
3. It has a greater number of GSoC qualifiers, and a better environment for Open Source Coding.
4. The environment is superior for competitive coding as well, and students participate in great numbers in online programming contests on platforms like codeforces, etc.
5. A large number of students prepare for exams like GRE, CAT, etc.

Thus, a B.Tech ICT at DAIICT is better in comparison to Computer Engineering at SVNIT.

Although DA-IICT is unquestionably better than Nirma, Nirma is more well-known in Gujarat and other regions since it is older than DA-IICT. But DA-IICT has made a huge development in aspects like academic excellence, infrastructure, faculty, etc. The reasons for choosing DA-IICT are mentioned below:

• Ranking & accreditation: According to the IIRF report 2023, DA-IICT ranked 1 among the top engineering colleges of India. The institution is accredited Grade A by NAAC.
• Placement Records: The highest salary package offered is 54 LPA. The average salary package offered is 16-17 LPA. Almost 100% of students got placed.
• Industry Connections: The university's connections with industry partners. lead to better internship opportunities, guest lectures, and networking.

If you are looking for the best college for CS then go for DTU among the aforementioned institutes. Although all the colleges will offer great opportunities, DTU has an upper hand in certain areas.

• DTU has an amazing coding culture. Students of every branch be it CS or EP are involved in coding at some level.
• Technical societies like IEEE, ASME, CSI, and IET organize a number of coding competitions to ensure the active participation of the students. 
• DTU has a number of entrepreneurs who are on the lookout for coders. So here, you will not only learn coding but also implement it.
• Its location plays a big role in improving its brand value and opportunities. 
• DTU has a rich legacy and has given birth to a number of well-reputed colleges. It has a strong alumni network owing to its early establishment.
• Located in Delhi NCR, students are exposed to better placement opportunities in IT companies.
• DTU has an amazing placement scenario. DTU's highest package stood at INR 1.8 CPA whereas the average package stood at INR 15.16 LPA.
• DTU has the highest non-tech placement percentage (47%) among other colleges.

Ultimately a college can only give you the initial kick in your career but the rest depends on your hard work and determination!

My cousin graduated from DTU in CS. According to him, these institutions can be ranked for CS in the following order-

1. DTU
2. NIT Calicut
3. IIIT Allahabad
4. NSIT (now NSUT)
5. IIIT Delhi
6. DAIICT

DTU is considered one of the best Indian institutions for CS. Therefore, you should go for DTU if you get the opportunity. Every technical society at DTU, be it IEEE, ASME, CSI, IET, or even the small ones, gives great value to coding competitions. Thus, coding classes and competitions are held on a regular basis.

For those who want to work on real-use-productive coding instead of passive-competitive coding, there are many opportunities at DTU. DTU has several societies, and there are student entrepreneurs who are always in dire need of talented coders. 

DTU also has a locational advantage. Being situated in the capital of India, it offers students great opportunities and exposure, not just industrial but of all types. Gurgaon is the IT hub and since you will spend 4 years of student life in Delhi, if you land a job in Gurgaon after graduating, you will have been accustomed to the region by that time.

The seniors at DTU are helpful and there is a strict anti-ragging policy on campus. The faculty consists of learned and helpful professors. The non-tech placements are also quite good at DTU.

DTU has huge brand value, long-standing history, and it is the mother of a lot of great colleges.

NIT Calicut is a good choice as well because it has a good placement record and an impressive infrastructure. In terms of location, however, DTU, NSUT, and IIIT Delhi are at an advantage.

You can consider all the above factors and finally decide which of these institutions is the right choice for you to pursue your CS.

 To evaluate which institute is the best fit for you, consider the following factors:

• Evaluate based on placements: Consider the kind of profile and role you want after graduation.
• Consider the reputation of the institute: This is important while applying for higher education.
• Look at the quality of academics and research during the course.
• Consider future opportunities in the related field.
• Look at the exposure to industries and industrial training.
• Evaluate the return on the money you spend on the course.

Based on these factors, you should consider the following institutes:

• For industrial exposure and better return on investments, DAIICT is a good option.
• For higher education and research, IIITM Gwalior is a good choice.

It's important to keep in mind that:

• IIITM Gwalior offers a dual degree program, which takes five years to complete.
• DAIICT offers a four-year course.

This difference in course duration could impact your choices while pursuing future courses of action.

DAIICT is a better option compared to NAIT Surathkal Mining. It offers better placements in comparison. Here are the placement highlights for 2022.

If you find computers and electronics interesting, you will like studying DAIICT. Gujarat is a great place to stay as well. 

Currently, DAIICT is definitely better than IET, Ahmedabad. It is well-developed and offers a competitive environment to the students. Whereas, IET is still in its development phase. 

Although IET has made great strides over the past few years, it will have time for it to be on the same level as DAIICT. For ICT, the best colleges in Gujarat are DA-IICT, IET, PDPU.
