Courses and faculty - course are interesting and faculty is very enthusiastic and have great knowledge and have helping nature polite
Scholarships like merit-cum-means and institute free studentship are available based on merit and financial need.
Iit guwahati is renowned not only for its academic excellence but also for the picturesque beauty for its campus, making it one the most aesthetically pleasing educational instituitions in india.

Dislikes

Gate was entrance exam for this course.i found the application form and details in iitg website only.reservation is available but i am not eligible for that .exams are so difficult .it is so much difficult
Hostel mess food is very bad, and very less food outlets
The heavy workload, with assignments, projects, and exams, stress students. balancing studies with extracurriculars and personal life is be tough.

My Experience as an IITian at IITG

Likes

First of all the educational curriculum is indeed excellent
Apart from academic,the students get a lot of opportunities to excel in different arenas
It has the most beautiful campus among all IITs as it has beautiful lakes ,mountains, greenary and mesmerizing environment

Dislikes

It follows the old theoretical based study curriculum
Being in northeast part the online shopping takes much time
Catering services initially are good but with time it reduces it quality

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would personally rate 4 stars to the course curriculum.I choosed btech in engineering physics as it is a better arena for who are interested in research fields The course curriculum has theoretical as well as practical approach for teaching the students as it contains lab practical as well as other practical exams with projects My personal suggestion for course is that they should emphasize more on learning through machines not through books Their are four exams(two quizzes and mid sem exam and end sem exam) The level of difficulty can easily be tackled If one study with consistency

How is the IIT GUWAHATI

Likes

The infrastructure is very well developed
The building are very strong and very beautiful
The faculties are very well qualified for teaching.

Dislikes

Some of the older buildings are not that strong
Some faculties have different ways of teaching which becomes headache to understand.

Placement Experience:

I guess at the end of 5th semister, one becomes eligible for the internship and placement takes place in the fourth year of the course. There are many companies and MNCs visited the campus during placement, for instance Google, Amazon, samsung, Wipro, etc. Highest package was about 2.1cr in year 2024. And average package was 41.7lac. After getting degree I would like to get job in my dream company

Likes

Mess food is good and you will have options. There is canteen and juice corner in every hostel.
Hostels are maintained and hygiene of bathrooms are also taken care of.
Offers numerous opportunities for research and innovation, particularly in engineering and technology.

Dislikes

Faculties are very strict about attendance.
Being located in the Northeast, it is relatively far from major metropolitan hubs, making travel and industry exposure slightly inconvenient. Limited direct connectivity to some regions in India.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd semester Students become eligible. Number of registered companies 466 Number of Pre-Placement Offers 229 Highest Salary Offered (CTC) Rs. 2.05 Crore Students securing 50 LPA CTC 102 Top Recruiting Sectors Core and Tech PSU’s Onboarded 14 Overall Placement Percentage across all programmes - 71 Total number of students registered - 1584 Total number of students placed - 1124 Total number of female students registered - 325 Total number of female students placed - 220 Total number of male students registered - 1259 Total number of male students placed - 878 Total Number of PPOs offered - 227 Total number of PPOs accepted - 189 Percentage of male students placed - 70% Percentage of female students placed - 68% My plan is to secure a job.

An honest and real experience at IIT Guwahati

Likes

The campus is very beautiful and offers a soothing experience to all the students
The campus has got a lot of food options , so students can eat whatever they want.
The campus is well connected and people can go anywhere in the city.

Dislikes

The infrastructure can be upgraded and can be built better
The level and toughness of the courses can be decreased for some courses and some courses can be changed.
The powers of profs. should be limited and they should be made answerable

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are good , we have got a dedicated cell called the placement cell . Students are eligible for placements in the 4th year. Students get both placement and interships from the college and almost everyone is placed in the college. Different companies visit the campus for placement, including the most reputed and the great ones like Google,Microsoft and FAANG companies. Students get internships in their 3rd year and get placed in their 4th year. Placements are good and the average package goes to 40 lacs or even more but range around this amount only .

Placement Experience:

Placement Interviews officially start from 1st December every year. After 7 days the first phase is officially over. Everyone doesn't get placed. Around 12-15% students remain unplaced at the end of the placement season. To get them placed College organises later phase of the placement season but the companies in that are not generally well established. College also contacts it's alums for the placement. Highest CTC is around 2.4Cr(international), Average- 22L and lowest below ₹10L. For my course most of the students do not apply for placements, they apply for Masters in foreign universities. Microsoft, Google hire in bulk with each hiring 20-25 students and they pay around ₹40L -45L. Placement committee contacts and invites the companies for placement season. The process is definitely not 100% transparent as there are some instances of favoritism.

Placements are good, faculty are awesome, Campus provides good environment to student and everyone are so friendly with each other.
All the students are cooperative and supportive. I like the most about this college is the big campus and their vision of being the best institution of choice.
The college provides a supportive and inclusive environment. The faculty and staff are approachable and always willing to help students with academic or personal issues

Dislikes

One aspect of my College that i found challenging is finding a book in library because it's too much bigger and also it lacks up to date materials or books.
While the campus facilities are generally well maintained,there were occasional issues with the wifi connectivity in some parts of the campus.
While the faculty is knowledgeable and supportive, there were instances where the course and teaching methods felt outdated. Technique and technology taught in the classroom should make the learning experience more effective with the daily life.

Placement Experience:

The college holds a high placement rate with a significant percentage of Students security jobs before graduation. The college attracts reputed companies e.g. google ,microsoft , bajaj, oracle,barclays , grow ,etc. for campus placement including top multinational corporations and leading firms in various sectors . Total 164 offers were made by 59 companies during last academic year(2022-23). In addition, IIT Guwahati students have already received as many as 214 pre placement offers during the academic year 2023-24. The highest package this year is 2.05 crore per annum. Placement rate is 72%. My plan is to get a good pre placement offers before my graduation .

The Envoironment of the campus is soo nice and good.
Faculties are good and are highly qualified.
College's internship and placement opportunity are good

Dislikes

the girls to boys ratio is around 1:4 respt.
Entry procedure at college's main and other gates.
you have to travel with cycle wherever you want to go.

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester you are eligible for campus placements offer. and before that in 5th semester you get internship opportunity from the college. around 300 companies came for on campus recruitment and this year placement percentage is around 82 %. and avereage package is around 25 LPA. and highest is around 1.9 Cr. per annum.

Beautifull Campus:-The campus is one of the most scenic in india located beside the brahmputra and surrounded by hills and lakes with a area of 750 acres.
Acadmic Excellence:- IIT guwahati has a strong acadmic reputation with experienced faculty high class labs and excellent infrastructure.
Sports and recreation:-The institute provides great sports facility including ground for cricket football athletics bollyball court table tanis court badminton court basketball court and many more.

Dislikes

Inconsistent Internet :- The room wifi that is provided through institute is inconsistent. The speed can go down anytime.
Mess Food :- Here the food quality of mess is very poor. There is many variety in food but the quality is poor.
Weather:- The region experiences a heavy rain and high humidity during the monsoon and also you cannot have ac or cooler in your rooms.

Placement Experience:

The Placement here is very good.The placement rate is around 80% with an average package of 15lpa. After completing the third year students apply for on campus placement. Last year around 200 companies visited and around 1000 offers were made. highest package was around 2cr and average package was 15lpa. 80% students gets placed. My palns after degree is to work in some mnc.

Glimpse of IIT Guwahati

Likes

The campus is very beautiful full of lakes , it is located on hill , apart from city chaos
Placement are too good , we have 22 average in our branch
Have good extra curriculum activities in our college

Dislikes

The lectures are scheduled too early and there are 18 lectures a week , which is very stressfull
The sport facilities are good but in some sports , equipment are too old
Distance between hostel and lecture are very large , about 1km

Placement Experience:

Placements are to good in our campus , After 6th semester , official campus placement started . Google, microsoft, quant, Hamiltan , goldman sachs etc faang companies come in our campus , last year 1112 offers got made for 1425 students . Highest placement is of 2.4 cr given by uber india and average package is 21 lakhs over 81 percent got placed. I have to start own venture.

Likes

Classes are well explained and understandable.
All the resources are upto standard level.
Campus provide all the necessary needs for students.

Dislikes

Engagement sessions are less compared to other
Food is not nice in hostels as I am not native .
Projects are little bit tough to handle.

This curriculum is well intresting and as an engineering student it provide opportunities for working in real time applications and helps to develop knowledge in all aspects of academics.As there is no need of further advancement as it is already getting advanced every year with new technology.

To be eligible for admission to M.Tech programs, you need to have graduated in B.Tech with 60% or M.Sc/AMIETE degree then appear for GATE entrance test.
