An honest and real experience at IIT Guwahati

The course curriculum is good and consists of a lot of theory, labs and practicals. The course is highly relevant as the profs. who teach those courses themsleves visit the industry and other areas to learn about the practical applications. The course has got TA and asst. profs. who are always there to assist us in the course and help us out at all times. Some TA's are very helpful and good whereas some TA's are very bad , both of the people exist in the institute.

1. Different opportunities are available for students for internships . 2. Students get internships at the end of the 2nd year, however some people take internships from 2nd year or even 4th year. 3. Students do projects in order to get better internships and students do get good opportunities. 4.Internships are offered in different companies and even in the best companies of the country. 5. Companies like Google, Microsoft,Big 4 and FAANG also give internship opportunities to students.

The campus placements are good , we have got a dedicated cell called the placement cell . Students are eligible for placements in the 4th year. Students get both placement and interships from the college and almost everyone is placed in the college. Different companies visit the campus for placement, including the most reputed and the great ones like Google,Microsoft and FAANG companies. Students get internships in their 3rd year and get placed in their 4th year. Placements are good and the average package goes to 40 lacs or even more but range around this amount only .

The total fees for the course is around 3.5 lacs and can cost more depending on different factors and required things. Every year the official fees is around 1.5lacs but can cost more because of the cost of living . all in all the degree will cost you around 5 lacs. There are different scholarships availaible and people take benefit from them. The students of minorities get more scholarship and can save a lot of their money. All in all , for the middle class it is a bit more than affordable.

The campus life is good as it offers different actiivites like 1.Clubs and Socieites 2. Student Activity centre 3. Every hostel has it's own gym and sports centre 4. NSS and NCC are also available for students . 5. There are a lot of books that are available in the library and you can read a lot of books. 6. There are a bunch of different activities that take place on a daily basis and you can participate in them . 7. There are competitions held in different clubs every now and then in which people participate and win. The competitions see a lot of participations here.

Every student is required to stay inside the campus in the hostels. No student is allowed to live outside. 1. Hostles are different, the new ones are great but the old ones are not that good and need renovation 2. Basic facilities are provided in every hostel . 3. Every hostel has got it's own canteen, mess, shops, sports area and music area along with common halls. 4. Hostels do not have a fast internet and only have LAN connections and do not have WiFI till now. 5. THe mess has got good food and taste and hygiene are taken care in all of the mess. 6. There are different options for food. 7. The rooms here are for single-seater and you don't need to share your room with anyone else. 8. The halls are good and bathrooms have got good facility 9. Some hostles lack facilites in hostels of Geysers so winters can be a bit tough in some hostels.

The college is an institute of national importance and is better than any other college in our country, I personally took admission here because of the state-of-the art facilities and the great amount of opportunities that lie here. The college has got great reputation both locally and internationally which is a major reason for me choosing this institute above everything else.Also , the college is the most beautiful campus in the country which is also a major reason for me choosing this college as my preferred academic place.

The faculty is good qualification wise and they are highly educated. However when it comes to teaching part, some are very good and some are very bad. The courses are highly industry relevant and Can be tough for some students.

For the entrance into the institute , You have to give JEE mains , qualify it to become eligible for JEE Advanced and then get a good rank in JEE advanced in order to secure admission into this college. It is a tough and lengthy process but is worth it

The campus has got good nightlife and has the following features: 1.Street food is available 24/7 and you can get whatever you want at anytime. 2.Few restrictions are there on going outside the campus at night for both boys and girls. 3. Generally it is not allowed for the Bachelor and Masters students to go outside the campus later than 10 at night and every student is required to report before 10 at the campus. 4. Students can go outside and visit the places all around the city, during the sunlight hours. 5. In time of fest and certain workshops, going out restrictions are lifted and students can go out till whenever they want and there are no particular restrictions. 6. Students can hangout at a lot of places, there are a lot of lakes, viewpoint and other places to visit inside the campus and to enjoy for the students. 7. Students can go to the nearby hills in the campus for trekking and different recreational activites in order to relax.
