BIT Mesra PhD admission 2024 usually takes place twice a year i.e., in January and July. BIT Mesra PhD admissions are based on UGC-CSIR-JRF/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/ GATE/ NET-JRF test scores. The institute also conducts a written test and a personal interview to select candidates for the Ph.D. program for the candidates applying without the test scores. BIT Mesra PhD Eligibility Criteria

BIT Mesra PhD admission is based on the fulfillment of certain eligibility criteria set by the institute followed by the selection process which is a written test and a personal interview.   • Candidates holding an MTech/ ME/ MSc (Engg.)/ MArch/ MPharm/ MPlan/ MSc/ MCA/ MBA or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA in the qualifying examinations
  • Candidates possessing a BTech/ BE/ NSc (Engg.)/ BPharm/ BArch/ BPlan or equivalent degree with a minimum of 80% marks or 8.0 CGPA with a valid GATE/ GPAT score with 90 percentile 
  • Sponsored candidates must have at least 2 years of professional work experience and meet all the eligibility criteria. Additionally, candidates must have valid sponsorship for a minimum of 3 years.

BIT Mesra PhD Selection Criteria

The selection for the BIT Mesra PhD is completely based on the written test, previous academic records, and a personal interview. Candidates who score the minimum requisite marks in the written test will be considered for the final selection. However, Candidates with valid UGC-CSIR-JRF/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/ GATE/ NET-JRF test scores are exempted from appearing for the written test but have to appear for the interview.

BIT Mesra PhD Scholarship

BIT Mesra offers a scholarship in the form of Institute Research Scholarships with a fellowship amount of INR 15,000 per month for the first two years and INR 20,000 for the next two years depending on the performance. The fellowship provided to the PhD aspirants varies across the departments depending on the minimum marks decided by an appropriate committee. However, candidates who are not appearing for the PhD entrance examination will not be eligible for the institute's financial support.

Ans. BIT Mesra allows admission to its PhD program in two different ways i.e., full-time and part-time modes. The selection to the Ph.D. program will be based on the written test, academic performance, and personal interview. Nearly 20% of the selected candidates will be selected for admission and may be allotted to Part-time mode depending on their position in the merit list. However, in the Management and Architecture & Planning departments, more than 20% of candidates may be selected for the part-time mode.
