BIT MCA 2027 is the entrance exam conducted by Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi for admission to its 2-year full-time Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme. What is BIT MCA Entrance Exam?

BIT MCA is the Master of Computer Applications entrance exam conducted by Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand. BIT MCA 2027 Important Dates (Expected)

BIT Mesra has not yet released the official schedule for BIT MCA 2027. As of September 2, 2026, the 2027 notification is still several months away. The dates below are expected based on the pattern from the 2024-25 and 2025-26 admission cycles. You should visit bitmesra.ac.in regularly from January 2027 to check for the official notification.

All BIT MCA 2027 dates are expected estimates based on the last two admission cycles. Official dates will be confirmed on bitmesra.ac.in once the notification is released. Do not rely on third-party websites for official date announcements.

BIT MCA 2027 Eligibility Criteria

You must meet the BIT MCA eligibility criteria before applying. BIT Mesra verifies your eligibility against original documents at the time of campus reporting after the result. If any information in your application does not match your documents, your admission can be cancelled even after a seat is allotted to you.

Educational Qualification

You must hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of these specific streams from a recognised Indian university (minimum 3-year programme, following the 10+2+3 pattern):

• Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
• B.Sc. in Computer Science
• B.Sc. in Information Technology (IT)
• B.Sc. in Computer Applications

General engineering degrees (B.E. / B.Tech.) and general science degrees (B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Mathematics) are not listed in the official BIT Mesra brochure as qualifying degrees. Your Bachelor’s degree must be from the CS or IT domain.

Minimum Percentage Required in Graduation

Mathematics Requirement

You must have studied Mathematics either at the 10+2 level or as part of your graduation curriculum. If you completed a BCA or B.Sc. Computer Science degree, you almost certainly meet this requirement through your graduation coursework.

Final Year Applicants

You can apply provisionally if you are in the final year of your qualifying degree. However, you must submit proof that you have passed with the required percentage by October 31 of the admission year. If you do not provide this proof by the deadline, your admission will be cancelled automatically without refund.

Distance Learning Degrees

BIT Mesra accepts distance learning degrees only if they are recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC-IGNOU). If you have a distance learning degree, you must have already completed and passed the degree at the time of applying — provisional admission is not available for distance learning candidates.

Other Important Conditions

• Only Indian nationals are eligible. There is no upper age limit for BIT MCA.
• Foreign degrees require an equivalence certificate from EdCIL or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• OBC-NCL certificates must be issued in the same financial year as the year in which you are applying. Older OBC-NCL certificates are not accepted.

• Step 1: Visit the official website. Go to bitmesra.ac.in and find the MCA Admissions 2027 link under the Admissions section. The application link becomes active only after the official notification is out.
• Step 2: Register online. Create a login account using your email ID and mobile number. You will receive login credentials on your registered email. Keep these details safe — you will need them to log back in for future steps.
• Step 3: Fill the application form. Enter your personal details, educational qualifications, and campus preferences. You can rank up to 3 campuses in order of priority. Campus preferences cannot be changed after form submission, so decide carefully before submitting.
• Step 4: Upload documents. Upload a recent scanned photograph, your signature, and copies of your educational certificates in the format and file size specified in the official instructions.

BIT MCA 2027 Syllabus

The BIT MCA 2027 syllabus is divided into two parts. Part A covers Computer Fundamentals across 7 subject areas and carries the mandatory qualifying threshold of 35 marks. Part B covers Mathematics, Analytical Ability, Reasoning, and English. Because Part A is both the heavier qualifying hurdle and a larger proportion of the paper, it should receive most of your preparation time.

Part A: Computer Fundamentals (50 Questions)

• Digital Logic and Computer Organization: Boolean algebra, logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR), number systems and conversions (binary, octal, decimal, hexadecimal), number representation and arithmetic, ALU design, instruction pipelining, memory hierarchy (cache, main memory, secondary storage)
• Programming and Data Structures: C language — pointers, functions, file handling, and recursion; arrays, stacks, queues, linked lists (singly, doubly, circular), trees and binary search trees

Part B is split across three areas with an approximate distribution of 20 Mathematics, 20 Reasoning, and 10 English questions:

• Mathematics (~20 Questions): Sets, relations and functions; permutations and combinations; probability distributions — Uniform, Normal, Exponential, Poisson, Binomial; mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance; conditional probability and Bayes’ theorem

Based on past years, the most question-heavy areas in Part A are Programming and Data Structures, Operating Systems, and DBMS. For Part B, probability and statistics tend to be the trickiest topics for BCA graduates. Logical Reasoning and English are generally easier to score in with consistent practice.

BIT MCA 2027 Admit Card

The BIT MCA 2027 admit card will be available for download on the official website — bitmesra.ac.in — under the Admissions section. Based on past years, BIT Mesra releases the admit card approximately 7 to 10 days before the written exam. For 2027, you should expect the admit card in the first or second week of June 2027.

BIT Mesra does not send admit cards by post or email. You must download and print your admit card yourself from the official website. Your printed admit card is required for entry at the exam centre — no digital copy on a phone or tablet is accepted in place of a physical printout.

BIT MCA 2027 Personal Interview (PI)

The Personal Interview is the second and final selection stage for BIT MCA 2027. It is mandatory — you cannot get a seat based only on your written test score. The PI carries 60% of your final merit score, making it the more critical of the two stages. Strong PI preparation is as important as scoring well in the written test.

Who Gets Shortlisted for the PI?

From among all candidates who score at least 35 out of 50 in Part A, the top approximately 600 by total written test score are shortlisted for the PI. Shortlisting is based only on the written test score — your campus preference does not affect whether you are called for the PI. All shortlisted candidates appear in the same PI round, which is typically held over two days.

PI Qualifying Threshold

You must score at least 38 out of 100 in the Personal Interview to remain eligible for the final merit list. There is no category-based relaxation on this threshold — the 38-mark minimum applies to every candidate regardless of category. A PI score below 38 means you will not appear on any merit list, regardless of how high your written test score was.

Final Merit Score Calculation

Once both stages are complete, your final merit score is calculated using this formula:

Final Merit Score = (40% x Written Test Score) + (60% x PI Score)

Both the written test score and the PI score are individually scaled to 100 before the formula is applied. Campus allotment then happens based on this final merit score combined with your campus preferences and seat availability in your category.

In 2026, the PI was held on June 18 and 19. For BIT MCA 2027, expect the PI in late June 2027. The specific PI date and call details are communicated after the written test results are announced.

BIT MCA Campuses: Locations and Seats

BIT Mesra runs the MCA programme at four campuses spread across three states. All campuses follow the same curriculum and degree awarded by BIT Mesra, Ranchi. During the application, you choose up to 3 campuses in order of preference. Seat allotment then happens based on your merit rank, your preferences, your category, and what is available in each round.

The total estimated seat intake across all four campuses is approximately 240–260. BIT Mesra has not officially published exact seat numbers in its admission brochure. The main campus at Mesra is the most competitive and its seats fill up first across all allotment rounds. BIT Noida is the next most sought-after among candidates from North India.

Reservation of Seats (Central Government Norms)

• SC: 15% of total seats at each campus
• ST: 7.5% of total seats at each campus
• OBC-NCL: as per applicable government reservation norms
• EWS: up to 10%
• PwD: 5% horizontal reservation across all categories

The 50% state quota applies only at the Mesra and Lalpur campuses. At Noida and Jaipur, there is no state quota restriction — candidates from any state can be allotted these campuses freely based on merit and preference.

BIT MCA 2027 Preparation Tips

BIT MCA is a focused, moderately competitive exam. With a dedicated plan of 3 to 4 months, you can score well across both parts. Here are practical preparation tips based on the exam structure and what the official syllabus outlines:

• Make Part A your top priority. You must score at least 35 out of 50 in Part A to qualify — this threshold has no category relaxation. Aim for 40 or above to have a safety buffer. Spend at least 60% of your preparation time on the 7 Computer Fundamentals topic areas.
• Master C programming and Data Structures from the ground up. C language — particularly pointers, recursion, and file handling — along with arrays, linked lists, trees, stacks, and queues, are consistently tested. Do not just read code; write programs on paper and trace through examples step by step. Many exam questions test your ability to trace the output of given code, not just name the structures.
• Practise DBMS with SQL queries and normalization problems. SQL join queries, subqueries, and normalization up to BCNF appear regularly. Practise writing SQL queries for real table scenarios. Understanding why a table violates BCNF while satisfying 3NF — and how to fix it — is more useful than memorizing the definitions alone.
• Solve OS numerical problems, not just theory.
