BIT MCA 2026 Eligibility Criteria

You must meet all BIT MCA eligibility criteria before applying. BIT Mesra checks these carefully during document verification after seat allotment. If you do not meet the criteria, your admission can be cancelled even after a seat has been allotted.

Educational Qualification

You must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university established under the UGC Act, 1956, in any of the following disciplines:

• Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
• B.Sc. in Computer Science
• B.Sc. in Information Technology (IT)
• B.Sc. in Computer Applications

You must have passed the qualifying degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the minimum is 50% marks.

Candidates in the final year of their qualifying degree can apply provisionally. You must submit your final marksheet showing the required percentage at the time of document verification.

Mathematics as a Subject

You must have studied Mathematics as a subject at either the 10+2 level or during your Bachelor’s degree. This is a mandatory requirement. Candidates who did not study Mathematics at either level are not eligible for BIT MCA 2026.

Distance Learning Candidates

If your qualifying degree is through a correspondence or distance-learning programme, it must be recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC) of IGNOU. You should verify your institution’s recognition status before applying. Degrees from unrecognised distance programmes are not accepted.

Nationality and Age

Only Indian nationals can apply for BIT MCA 2026. BIT Mesra does not specify any maximum age limit — there is no upper age restriction for this programme.

Reservation Policy

BIT MCA 2026 follows central government statutory reservation norms:

• SC: 15% of seats
• ST: 7.5% of seats
• OBC-NCL: As per central norms (OBC-NCL certificate must be issued after 01.04.2026)
• EWS: Up to 10% of seats
• PwD: 5% horizontal reservation (statutory)
• State Quota: 50% of seats at each campus are reserved for candidates from the state where that campus is located

BIT MCA 2026 Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable in all circumstances. Payment must be made online — no offline payment mode is accepted. Always save the payment receipt since it is required during document verification at the time of admission.

Campus preferences submitted in the application form cannot be changed after submission. Select your campuses carefully in order of preference, keeping in mind location, annual fee, and state quota eligibility at each campus.

BIT MCA 2026 Admit Card

The BIT MCA 2026 admit card was released on the official ERP portal before the entrance test. Candidates downloaded it using their application number and password. Carrying the admit card was mandatory to access the examination.

The admit card carried key details: the candidate’s name, application number, assigned exam session (June 6 or June 13), timing (10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon), login credentials for the online proctored CBT, and system and webcam requirements. Since BIT MCA is an online proctored test, candidates take the exam on their own computer with a stable internet connection and a working webcam under live remote supervision.

BIT Mesra provided two official Mock Tests before the actual exam — on May 30, 2026 (for Session 1 candidates) and June 7, 2026 (for Session 2 candidates), both from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. These mock tests used the exact same CBT interface and proctoring software as the actual exam. Attempting the mock test is strongly recommended in future cycles to avoid last-minute technical problems on exam day.

For upcoming BIT MCA cycles, the admit card is typically released 7-10 days before the exam date. Candidates should check their registered email and the official website regularly once the exam date is announced.

BIT MCA 2026 Syllabus

How the Final Merit List is Compiled

The BIT MCA 2026 merit list is prepared as follows:

• Separate merit lists are published for each category: General (UR), OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD

Campuses Accepting BIT MCA Score

The BIT MCA 2026 score is accepted at four campuses of Birla Institute of Technology. Each campus has a different setup in terms of residential facilities, location, and state quota eligibility. All four campuses offer the same 2-year MCA programme and award the degree from BIT Mesra (Deemed University).

State Quota: 50% of seats at each campus are reserved for candidates from the state where that campus is located. Jharkhand candidates have a 50% state quota advantage at both Mesra and Lalpur. Candidates from Uttar Pradesh benefit from the Noida campus state quota, and Rajasthan candidates from the Jaipur campus. The remaining 50% of seats at each campus are All India quota seats, open to candidates from any state.

You can apply for up to 3 campuses in order of preference during the application. These preferences cannot be changed after submission. BIT Mesra main campus at Ranchi is the oldest and most preferred of the four, with a long history of industry tie-ups and campus placements. For candidates from UP and Rajasthan who benefit from state quota, the Noida and Jaipur off-campus centres respectively are strong choices with a lower effective cutoff.
