Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was in lines with the national standards. I opted for civil engineering because of its continued relevance in the market. Although the curriculum gives enough knowledge about the concepts, a more practical curriculum which gives hand on experience of the concepts would be more beneficial
Internships Opportunities
As compared to final placements, only a few companies offer internships with only a few students landing internship opportunities. Internship opportunities could be improved by the college by placing a dedicated cell for the same.
Placement Experience
Students get PPO ( pre placement opportunity) from 5th semester itself. However the actual placment process starts from 7th semester. A mix of tech and non-tech companies visit the college and offer job to the students.
Fees and Financial Aid
The B.Tech total tution fees was about INR 5 lakh. Students can opt for hostels and mess facilities which amounted to close to INR 1.5 lakh over the course of 4 years. Various government scholarships are available to students with a dedicated office to help the students apply for the same.
Campus Life
The college hosts three fests - cultural, technical and sports fests. There are also many student run clubs like for dance, singing, dramatics, quizzing etc. the overall social life is dynamic with ample opportunity to pursue ones hobby.
Hostel Facilities
Students are given single rooms with a bed. There is a wardrobe with attatched balconies for every room. There is common bathrooms. The mess provides both veg and non veg food and overall quality of food is good. Hostel and mess charges are very affordable.
Admission
I applied for most of the NITs and BIT MESRA. I got NIT Jamshedpur in the first round of counselling and got my preferred branch as well which led me to choose this college over others. Its proximity to my hometown and my desired branch was the reason to select this college.
Faculty
NIT Jamshedpur has a student to faculty ratio of approximately 1:15. Professors are very much approachable and go out of their way to help students. There is a total of 3 exams for each subject in a semester.
Night Life
Favourite late night spots would be TSG and around the college canteen. There are other food outlets which are open till late night offering food and refreshments to the students. Also the campus is very safe with security personnel 24x7 in the campus.
