Course Curriculum Overview

4

• I was good in mathematics and statistics which was the main reason for me to choose this course • The course was good and based on the application of several topics in real life • If it was more practical based and more job oriented then it would have been almost perfect • Semesters exams were used to be held for almost 1 month but the semesters' durations were comparatively shorter than a lot of other colleges

Internships Opportunities

4

• Accenture, D E Shaw, PWC, Earnest and Young GDS, Deloitte USI, Mckinsey, Adobe, ICICI Bank, Digit Insurance, and Novartis etc. • The roles offered by companies to students from statistics department were Data Analyst, Data Scientists, Junior Data Scientists etc.

Placement Experience

4

• From a year before the completion of the courses, the students became eligible to apply for jobs at several companies on campus • The companies that came on campus for hiring were Accenture, PWC, Deloitte USI, Mckinsey, Adobe, ICICI Bank, Digit Insurance, and Novartis etc. • From our department the highest package was 22LPA and median package was 7-8LPA • From postgraduate students, almost 80-85% of the students got jobs • I plan on completing Master's first

Fees and Financial Aid

• I paid Rs.50000 as course fees on an average per year to complete my graduation • I was in general category and these are the fees per year for a candidate from general category which we had to pay through four installments Tuition Fees- Rs.6000 Development Fees- Rs.17000 Lab Fees- Rs.17000 Exam Fees- Rs.6000 E-resources & Library Fees- Rs.6000 Additional Fees- Rs.6000 and there was session fees which was added every semester. • The fees were almost same for other categories like EWS, OBC etc • There was some rebates for categories like SC, ST etc. and for candidates from PWDs • There was scholarships available but you have to be eligible academically to get these scholarships which are, Inspire Scholarship (Rs.60000/yr) SVMCM Scholarship (Rs.18000/yr) LIC Golden Jubilee scholarship (Rs.20000/yr) etc. but you can only apply for one scholarship.

Campus Life

4

• The cultural fest of our college is very popular and names Xavotsav and there were fests for each departments which the students and the faculties used to arrange on their own • The range and collection of books in our library was vast in every aspect • Classrooms were good and technologically advanced • There used to be sport events and sports fest arranged by college authority • There was several at student-run social groups which affected the students in both positive and negative ways

Admission

• I applied for Maulana Azad College, Asutosh College etc and got confirmed admissions from them but i chose SXC as it was academically of much higher quality than the others • Yes, I got rejected from ISI as i couldn't crack its subjective paper. • The eligibilities are thoroughly given at college's official website and specified for every course. • For a very of the few courses, the college takes entrance exams at UG level. So, you have to score very good marks in your 12th grade exams and specially in the subject you want to pursue higher studies and the subjects related to them. The admissions are very clear and different for different boards. So, it doesn't get mixed up like other colleges at the time of admission in the sense of different scoring procedures in different boards

Faculty

5

• The student-fo-faculty ratio was good. It was around 25:1 and the relationship was good between the faculties and students • The faculties I liked from my statistics department are Prof. Surupa Chakroborty, Prof. Surabhi Dasgupta (Ma'am)(who was my project guide in my final year), Prof. Debjit Sengupta, Prof. Ayan Chandra, Prof. Madhura Dasgupta and others Every one of them was very thorough in their teachings and helped us a lot if there were any problems academically and recommended us how to solve those • In my 3 year UG course, there were 6 semesters and the number of exams in a semester varied on the number of topics that was being taught in that semester. • Difficulty wise, the exams used to be medium to hard depending on the topics and on how topics were taught throughout the semester • Almost 90% of the students used to clear out the exams.

Interview Experience

4

• The current affairs, the topics related to your course, your management qualities in a social groups and your activities throughout college were the main topics in interviews • At first, you have to be eligible for the course you want to pursue and the eligibilities are thoroughly given at the college's official website specified for each courses. There will be admission lists given and if you are selected then you have to give proper qualification papers and required fees in the process.

Night Life

4

• In college campus, there were several places like Canteen, cafeterias, library, playgrounds etc. where students used to hang out together • You can get out and in campus at any time you want but the classes were punctual. So, it depended on the professors whether the professor allowed students, after late arrivals, in class or not. • The locality was safe to roam around nights and there was a Police station at the exact opposite of the college's front gate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
