Likes

The college campus is huge and beautiful with different blocks like green benches, gymnasium,library and canteen
The faculty members are very knowledgeable and experienced.The Professors use blackboards,ppts during lectures.Group discussion and healthy discussions are also encouraged

Dislikes

Too much of discipline and rules, attendance criteria makes it hectic and exhausting for the students to be in schedule

The curriculum is just not academics but also includes relevant group discussion and interactions which makes the course interesting.The curriculum is such as they prepare students for critical analysis.

The application fees was 750/- The admission fees which included the 1st installment fees of Semester 1 was 34,900/- The second installment fees of Semester 1 was 12,600/- There are various scholarship schemes and aid for students too

Campus Life

The annual fest is known as XAVOTSAV which is held in December every year.The grand fest is celebrated in an exciting way every year. The availability of the books ,journals and previous year question papers in the library are too good.One can easily find all the books

Admission

I applied to and even got selected in Jadavpur University Loreto, Gokhale Memorial College, Lady Brabourne. But the reason i selected this college is because I have always studied in a convent environment, so I wanted that to continue.The punctuality,systematic and disciplined environment made St Xaviers stand out.

Faculty

The faculty is very much approachable and friendly.They have a student friendly and professional manner making it easy for students to interact with the.There are 2 semesters each year.There are regular mid semesters followed by end semesters.

Night Life

One can easily hang out in common room, green benches canteen and gymansium inside the college .The presence of Delights cafe just outside the college and also various cafes in park street area and maidan makes the college life lively

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Mere collage The exam level is basically hard and exams are conducted twice a year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.

Presidency University: A hope of light but needs a lot of upgradation

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Department of Bengali is one of the oldest Bengali department in the state. It offers undergraduate honours and postgraduate courses. Recently, they have started PhD courses as well. The Bengali department is actively engaged in research in hot topics in literature. The curriculam of Presidency university is most diverse among all other University, colleges in the state. It begins with very basic topics at the first year and ends with very specific research level papers at the final year. The syllabus is so advance that bachelors students can compare themselves with the masters level students after completeing the course. I will mention the bachelor course curriculam in summary: Semester I- Prachin Bangla Sahitya O Bangalir Itihas sandhan, Bangla bhasar itihas o bhasatotto, Semester II- Prak chaitanya juger bangla sahityer itihas, Madhyajuger bangla sahityer itihas o kabyapath, Semester III- Shorosh o soptodosh shotabdir samaj: itihas o chaitanyadeb, Ashtadosh shatabdir samaj sangkriti, changa-alanlkar o prof sangsodhan, Semester IV- Adhunik juger udbhab, gadya o probondho sahitya, kabya-kabitae itihas, natoker itihas o rupbhed, Semester V- Bangla Upanyas, Bangla chotogolpo, Rabindranath, Semester VI- Unish o Bish shataker bangla samaj songskriti o sahitya, bhinna bhasar sahityer itihas o tar obhighat, bharatiya alangkar shatra, sahitya o shilpo. Other than these compulsory courses, there are lot of exceptional elective courses that attracted me more towards joining this prestigious university. Since Presidency University select specific students through their difficult entrance tests, the semester exams should not be difficult for the students, but there are some papers in the course which needs to delt with extra care and attention to get extra marks.

I wouldn't eliminate content without background we cannot form good, rational and educated conclusions. We still giving timed tests.

I thought of pursuing engineering and therefore have WBUJEE and JEE both. SXC is an old pedigree!

There are no entrances like the Delhi University which I gave as well. Here admission are based on 12th percentage and the subjects that we have had. So, for general category in 2025 admission 92.7% from any board was the cut-off. For OBC it was 81 and for SC/ST students it was 73%....Read More
