Course Curriculum Overview
B.Com (Hons.) includes various subjects such as finance, marketing, accounts and business analytics through the tenure that are relevant to the current skill requirement. The course does provide learning opportunities that are relevant to the current job market. We have one end sem exam which is of three hours and of 90 marks. Besides that every semester we have to give Internal Assessment and Continuous Assessment.
Internships Opportunities
Placement Cell is very active in providing internships to all years. They circulate such opportunities regularly through their social media handles. Some internships have stipends and the highest stipend provided is 90000 per month. As internships are an integral part of college life, placement cell ensures students get good opportunities.
Placement Experience
One becomes eligible to sit for placements from the 5th semester of their course. The highest package provided by the college is 23.05 LPA and the average package is 5.25 LPA which is a good number for the fresher. I plan on sitting for placements after my college to gain work experience before applying for further studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees at Gargi College for B.Com(Hons.) is approximately INR 17000 yearly, which increases yearly but not by a large amount. Every semster the students have to pay examination fees which depends on the course and subjects chosen by the student. The examination fees is around INR 1800. There is scholarship opportunities for people from EWS quota. Students from B.Com(Prog) pay a slightly less amount which is around INR 15000.
Campus Life
Th annual fest of Gargi is known as Reveri which takes places every year in the month of February. The fest provides multiple opportunities to showcase one's talents. Gargi has various clubs for all sorts of activities such as consulting, marketing, dancing, singing, sports etc. Students runs various societies for promoting equal opportunity and inclusitivity.
Admission
I chose Gargi because its highly rated and one of the most prestigious college at University of Delhi. Gargi tends to be better than other colleges because it provides a safe enviroment for growth for its students. The admission process is through sitting for the CUET exams that generally takes place in the month of May and June. One needs minimum 96 percentile to qualify for the B.Com(Hons.) course
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is optimum. The faculty is open to creating bonds and relationships with the students. Teachers can be approached anytime during college hours for any doubt that the student might be facing. The commerce department has the best faculty, teachers have comprehensive knowledge of the material and provide practical learning aswell. Every semester there is only one end sem exam, which is of 90 marks theory paper and 70 marks internals which are taken throughout the semester through assignments, test and presentations. The course curriculm is very relevant to the current socio-economic landscape, inclusing topics of current relevance.
Night Life
Our campus closes at 5: 30 PM after which students can explore south Delhi as much as they like. Inside the campus. The campus has Nescafe and Mother Dairy that provide snacks and refreshments all day.
