Course Curriculum Overview

3

The NEP has changed the curriculum drastically and I feel that if you select the right subjects, then only it would be beneficial for you in the long term. The subject variety is good and also the teaching methods are okay too.

Placement Experience

5

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Dyal Singh College's fee structure has been quite confusing over the years. In the first year, the fee was around Rs. 15000, which then dropped to Rs. 10000 in the second year. But instead of continuing the trend, it increased again to Rs. 12000 in the third year. There is no clear pattern to how fees are se, which makes it difficult to understand. Usually, you'd expect fees to either stay the same or gradually increase but here the random ups and downs don't make much sense. If there's a reason behind these fluctuations, it hasn't been clearly communicated well to the students.

Campus Life

4

The society culture in my college is great so don't worry about you not getting exposure. The fest that this college is known for is Priyadarshini and communique both are great and well organised. The library has good and wide variety of books to offer. Sports is a good optoon only for buys because I have never seen any girl playing in the fields of DSC. The good sociities in DSC right noe are The placement cell, ENSO, D-Street, Anandam, Rotaract and Finanza.

Admission

During my application process, CUET was introduced and there were so many confusions at the moment and I think somewhere I didn't fill my preference sheet well. I didn't want Dyal singh for sure, but I think it was written in my fate to be here and I a here now so I am utilising the good parts of the college as much as I can. I applied for SRCC, Hindu, Hansraj, SBSC, Gargi and all the good college but I didn't got admitted in any maybe because of my preferance sheet but my score was 720 so yeah I think I deserved better.

Faculty

3

The faculty members of the college are mostly helpful, but the faculty-to-student ratio is not decent as there aren't a good number of teachers to address a class of 60-70 students. The faculty that I like the most in the college is the Faculty of Mathematics, they are highly updated with all the guidelines and are very attentive to students. Being a student of B.Com Hons, the worst faculty in my college is the commerce faculty because they are less in number in comparison to students and they are not well updated with the NEP guidelines and they don't take their work seriously, is what I feel. As per the curriculum of NEP, in the first and second year you would have 8 exams to give which would include your core subjects, SEC, GE, VAC and an AEC. But in the third year the subjects load will be lesser as there will be no VAC and AEC. The exams are average to difficult depending on the subject. The students usually fail in subjects like Business mathematics or taxation, so I would say about 50-60% failed in these subjects because of the difficulty level. The course is pretty relevant to the curriculum if you choose the right subjects.

Night Life

3

There is no nightlife as such in the college. There are no gyms or hostels in the college either. If you want accomodation, you would have to look for a PG or hostel whichever suits you. hangout places near the college are Maggi Point, Lodhi Garden, Indie Habitat Centre, Sundar Nursery.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I will rate the daulat ram course 8/10. One of the main reasons i chose this course was that the syllabus felt balanced between theory and practical understanding..but the only drawback is that sometimes it felt a bit more theory based rather than practical exposure , the exam pattern is consistent mid-sem internals and end-sem finals twice a year. Internals are usually manageable, but end-semester exams depend a lot on the teacher marking style.

A good amount of students get place, approx 20 students were placed this tym in Deloitte. I will be continuing with ACCA only.

Course curriculum is as per Delhi University's official curriculum, so it's pretty good. But its very theoretical as well so if I would suggest an improvement it would be this to make the curriculum more real and practical life based rather than rote learning.

Students of 3rd year are eligible for the same. Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Blackrock, Meesho etc being the most prestigious recruiters. Highest package varies, but it went around 36 L last year. Avg being around 8 L. I would say most students who apply for placements get placed, however only a few get placed in the top companies. I personally wish to pursue an MBA.
