Course Curriculum Overview

3

According to me the course curriculum is good. It touches all the topics which are included in the syllabus for NET and GATE exams. Our course curriculum could include forensic science which is quite a important area. The timing of exams sometimes stresses us a lot because some times we literally get 4 months to prepare instead of 6 months.

Fees and Financial Aid

MSc in biotechnology the fees is ?20401 per semester which is quite more compared to other cources available in our university. Tuition fees is ?1900. Registration fee is taken ?100 from which registration form is ?10. Examination fees is ?100. This Registration and examination fees is not included in semester fees for first semester. Lab fees is taken around ?2000. The first and second highest scoring students are provided concession on tuition fees. Scholarships are provided by West Bengal government in different criteria.

Campus Life

4

Annual fest is organised every yr around June-july. Time to time different programs are organised such as seminar, blood donation camp etc. There is huge range of books available in our central library as well as department library. All types of books are available required according to our syllabus. High grade projectors are provided to the classes. Bathrooms are not at all good. Sports are organised with different games and competition.

Admission

I have applied for Sikkim University and have also got chance there. But I choose Burdwan University as it is in my hometown which was a bad decision. Because Sikkim University is much much better that my university in terms of infrastructure, faculty and all. The fees was also quite less than Burdwan University. I always regret my decision. Admission process is simple for our university we have to fill the form online with all our details. Then lists are released for the selected students according to there BSC and 12th marks.

Faculty

2

The faculty to students ration is not proper for our department. We are in shortage of good teachers. The faculty persons are literally so toxic. The faculty members are having there own rivalry and the students in between them suffers a lot. Our Head of departure is very kind and very understanding. He is always ready to help out students. We have 4 final semester exams and 4 internal exams. In 3rd sem community engagement program is organised. The exam are on the east side , questions come mostly from the given syllabus. The course curriculum does not include internship programs which is a negative point.

Interview Experience

2

Haven't faced interview in this University till date. Campasing is not organised by our university. This is a big problem bhout University. So didn't get a chance to face interview or group discussion.

Night Life

3

Our university doesn't have any gym facilities. We have cafeteria which is less staffed and always crowded. Hangout place around campus will be Krishna Sayer Park. Science City is also nearby. A small zoo is also there near our campus. But nightlife is not that good around aur campus. It is not at all safe for girls around night.

Placement Experience:

Actually this is a general degree University , so I must mention that placement facalities are not so good. But yes , Job Fair is organised in University by some external agencies which offer jobs varying 2-2.5 lakhs per annum . But in the university most of the students do not accept that jobs. Half of the students are more interested on the higher studies. So ahet completing the fourth semester they prepare for PhD. And the another half are preparing for central government sponsored exams like CGL, CHSL, RRB, SBI , IBPS, LIC etc. University has a significant number of students who have qualified for Government Competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.
