Likes

Good faculty with all phd holders and all nice
Very good environment green campus well for literature and other course, wifi campus
Well framed labs, good faculties, well good enough polite fee structure

Dislikes

Canteen quality medium i dislike the most
Not enough much sports equipment but its too important for physical education
Most disliking is that there is a very rigid attendance and time frame of entry

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum focuses on decision-making, adaptability and public speaking enhancement. Teaching methods must be improved to be less rigid. Overall, they prepare you the best. The difficulty is kept quite high.

Class Size: 20Course Fees: INR 38000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Companies like mirchi, other all other publishing houses, tcs. Roles are like non paid internships or industry visits or sometimes they pay. Tcs do come . And others still vary. Students gain widerange expertise for that. Overall nice.

Placement Experience

From 6th sem they become eligible. But companies like tcs wipro accenture visits. But package is very low and placement is below average. My plan is to clear ugc net or go for some businesses degree . I will surely do something else but work for competitive exams. White collar jobs are best. Dont wait for placement in this college. Internships are available.

Fees and Financial Aid

I will be paying a total slip of 160000 . Tuition fee is 3000 but varies when there is an occasion. Other course fee are higher but varies within 250000 but there is a provision of concession facility. All scholarships provided by wb govt are available.

Campus Life

Festivals like xtron, xcaritas, xplore, xeve, Christmas, etc are held. There is a wide range of books, facilities are quite wellm sports very low. And afterall all other clubs and other running activities in the clubs are very strong.

Admission

I have applied to vivekananda mahavidyalaya haripal but i left because i am from eng medium background and that was a bengali medium college. because of marks but they chose you for how u brilliantly portray

Faculty

The faculty is overall nice . Faculty maximum overall stands phd holders . Seminar and workshops available . Best are somjit ray and oly roy .. there are overall mid and end semester with endless weekly tests. Backlogs proportion is less.

Presidency University: A hope of light but needs a lot of upgradation

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Department of Bengali is one of the oldest Bengali department in the state. It offers undergraduate honours and postgraduate courses. Recently, they have started PhD courses as well. The Bengali department is actively engaged in research in hot topics in literature. The curriculam of Presidency university is most diverse among all other University, colleges in the state. It begins with very basic topics at the first year and ends with very specific research level papers at the final year. The syllabus is so advance that bachelors students can compare themselves with the masters level students after completeing the course. I will mention the bachelor course curriculam in summary: Semester I- Prachin Bangla Sahitya O Bangalir Itihas sandhan, Bangla bhasar itihas o bhasatotto, Semester II- Prak chaitanya juger bangla sahityer itihas, Madhyajuger bangla sahityer itihas o kabyapath, Semester III- Shorosh o soptodosh shotabdir samaj: itihas o chaitanyadeb, Ashtadosh shatabdir samaj sangkriti, changa-alanlkar o prof sangsodhan, Semester IV- Adhunik juger udbhab, gadya o probondho sahitya, kabya-kabitae itihas, natoker itihas o rupbhed, Semester V- Bangla Upanyas, Bangla chotogolpo, Rabindranath, Semester VI- Unish o Bish shataker bangla samaj songskriti o sahitya, bhinna bhasar sahityer itihas o tar obhighat, bharatiya alangkar shatra, sahitya o shilpo. Other than these compulsory courses, there are lot of exceptional elective courses that attracted me more towards joining this prestigious university. Since Presidency University select specific students through their difficult entrance tests, the semester exams should not be difficult for the students, but there are some papers in the course which needs to delt with extra care and attention to get extra marks.

St Xavier’s Calcutta . Is it worth it?

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are very brilliant but there's a downside to it'. If you do bcom from Sxc cal either morning or evening batch, you are going to have an amazing and stable financial situation. But in English , don't expect earning a big salary. In campus placements exist for English students as professors. Many (almost all) of our professors are ex students of st Xavier's Calcutta.

Condition of Law Colleges

I did not apply to other colleges as it is in close proximity. There is only one law college in the district of Purba Bardhaman where I am from. The other law colleges are very far away from my house which would take me 4-5 hours to travel if there is no traffic. Since I didn't apply to other colleges I didn't get any rejection. If considered with other colleges, the studies are more intensive in law colleges under Calcutta University, as the syllabus is more intensive and has more subjects like Land Law which is absent in the curriculum of B.A. LL.B. of Burdwan University. Fees are also very less in government colleges. The fees for one semester in our college are equal to the fees of the entire course fee in a government college. The infrastructure is much better in government colleges with regular moot court competitions and other competitions, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Admission is on basis of merit score computed on marks of class 10 and 12....Read More
