Course Curriculum Overview
There are exams almost monthly and you have to perform better than 50 percent to pass. The course prepares us for any condition onboard ship. There is Asia's largest workshop in our college to teach us about the machineries.
Internships Opportunities
There are various internship opportunities available for you right from the time you enter the college. You can do web design, graphic design. Work for the college. Organise events in the auditorium. Many companies come to our college to provide internship.
Placement Experience
Campus placements usually begin from the 5th semester of 3rd year. Most cadets usually get placed. Only 7 cadets out of 238 in the 2022 passing batch are unplaced. They are either having arrears or are going to pursue a higher degree
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees is same for all the cadets. We have to pay 225000 rupees per year for 4 years amounting to 9 lakhs total course fees. There are a lot of scholarships available for students. Hostel and mess fees is included in tution fees.
Campus Life
You can indulge in various sports activities after returning from classes in the evening. There's a huge ground where you can play Football, Cricket, Kabaddi, hockey. There's a badminton court basketball court. Separate hostels for all year students.
Hostel Facilities
There's a table. A chair. Cupboard. Mattress. Bed. 2 to 3 cadets are allotted one room. Socket boards beside each bed. Rest of the things you have to buy. Food quality is not up to the mark. Cleaning staff come everyday.
Admission
I only applied for this college as I only wanted this college and this course. I researched about other colleges but their placement rates were either low or their course fee was a lot higher. In both areas IMU kolkata is the best for this course
Faculty
The faculties are mostly retired chief engineers who have a lot of experience onboard. There are 2 internal examinations and one semester end examination. There are 7 sections each containing 40 cadets.
Night Life
There's a gym provided for all year students. You usually cannot go out of the college after 10 pm. In the night the college comes alive. Cadets can order food late at night till 3 am. Cadets can walk around the college campus even late at night.
