Admission to UG and PG courses is done based on the cut-off in the IMU-CET entrance examination conducted by the university. Admission criteria for B.Tech. Marine Engineering is a minimum of 60% marks in PCM and a minimum of 50% in English in 10+2 and having qualified IMU-CET. Admission criteria for M.Tech. Marine Engineering and Management requires a minimum of 60% marks in BE/B. Tech. in Marine Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture, and have qualified IMU-CET. The admission criteria for the MBA in International Transportation & Logistics Management are 50% marks in graduation and a qualified score in the IMU-CET. Admission into other short-term courses will be based on the strict technical capabilities of the candidates as mandated by the university from time to time.

It has a campus area of 33 acres and provides all the necessary facilities to its students as given below.

• Sports space- The Institute has a tennis court, playground, gymnasium, basketball court, and an Olympic-size swimming pool.
• Hostel and Mess—There are separate hostels for girls and boys with facilities like T.V. rooms, messes, and study rooms. Hostels have an intake capacity of more than 800.
• Medical facility—24/7medical facilities are available for the students in campus.
