IMU Kolkata Course Admission 2026: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

For admission to the B.Tech (Marine Engineering) program at Indian Maritime University (IMU), candidates must qualify the IMUCET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test). Eligibility criteria include passing 12th grade with a minimum of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), and at least 60% in English in either 10th or 12th grade. The IMUCET exam is conducted annually in June, covering subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and General Knowledge, with a difficulty level slightly lower than JEE Mains.

Special provisions exist for reserved categories, with cut-off ranks for general category typically under 1000, OBC under 2500-3500, and SC/ST having more relaxed cut-offs. Applications, available on the IMU website, open in April-May with a fee of approximately ?1000 for general candidates. Once ranks are released, candidates undergo a counselling process to select their campus and confirm admission. Document verification and medical fitness certified by a DGS-approved doctor are mandatory for final admission.

Reservations are available for various categories, including GN-EWS, and special state quotas. The process concludes with the issuance of an admission letter.
