The honest review of imu kolkata

Likes

As it’s a paramilitary college so the discipline is top notch here.
I like the face that every student is called cadet here and wear the same uniform irrespective of the caste, colour and religion.
The college provides different types of sport which includes outdoor and indoor sports

Dislikes

I dont like the drainage facility here as the hostel gets full watered in rainy days
hostel buildings are very poor and not worthy but it’s compulsory to live in the hostel
The mess food quality is also very low which affects the health of students

Admission:

I choose this college because everyone suggested me this college and it's one of best government colleges for merchant navy in india. The admission process for this college is that you have to give imucet exam and then go through the counselling, if you are worthy then you will surely get this college.

Likes

Colleges has qualified faculties with excellent teaching skills
Good infrastructure, college has Asia's largest marine workshop
College has gym, swimming pool, hockey, football ground,volleyball and basketball court for extra carricular activity

Dislikes

Girl to boy ratio is less, In my batch total twenty lady cadets are there and two hundred and fifty boys.
College Mess food quality needs to be improved
In certain areas of college, students face hygiene and sanitation issues.

Admission:

Indian maritime University Kolkata campus is one of the finest and oldest colleges considered in marine education, with Asia's largest marine workship and good alumni network,and guaranteed placements of cadets.

Likes

The overall courses are good and the faculty is also well
The hostel is good and the facility provided are above mark
The discipline is just like NDA and uniform like Indian navy

Dislikes

Seniors will.have control on you in first year
Chapan and dasan will.be taken and should not be complaining
The timings for city leave is just till 6 pm for 1st year

Admission:

The admission into Indian maritime university occurs through the imucet exam and person getting under 1000 ranks only gets the college and it is not only the best maritime college in india but also hold a powerful name all over the shipping world

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

Likes

The daily schedule of the cadets and the training provided to them is very great as it prepares the person to be ready to tackle all the challenges on ship.
The alumni network of the college is very strong and the alumni are very helpful in bringing placements to the college
This is a residential course and the camaraderie built among the cadets enhances the quality of social interactions

Dislikes

There is no WIFI present in a few hostel complexes
Mess Food is okayish and variety is less
Sometimes delay in administrative related work

Admission:

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development. The placement ratio of this college is very good and this college provides a good exposure of the field and has internships oppurtunities from 2nd year itself and provides for additional courses to improve skills as an officer and develop aptitude as an engineer.

DMET- Who Is Making a Skilled Engineers

Likes

I liked the training and discipline that I had learnt from there
I love the bonding that this college creates in between the senior and juniors as well as in batchmates
I like the support and guidance that I got from my officers and faculty members who always there with me in my hard times

Dislikes

There is no any such things that I dislike from this college but when the rain happens in our college then whole college had been flooded.

Admission:

My college ( IMU Kolkata Campus) also known as DMET is one of the best marine engineering college from all over the world because here we learn how to handle bad situations, discipline and creates the eco friendly environment in between the senior and juniors as well as the batchmates and help each other in difficult times. The best thing in this college is that you don't have to worry about your placement and your character this college makes you like that you can achieve everything by your own self. The admission process of this college is like you have appear in IMUCET then councelling will happen then you got admission after getting good rank around 1000 to 2000 rank. My admission experience was quite nice the staffs and faculties were so helpful they guided me during admission.

The things which I like the most is it's positive atmosphere which I am getting here with my batchmates
And the extracurricular activities which happens in every month and the dedication of mine as well as my batchmates is the thing which I like the most
The bonding which I got from my campus is like a true blessing for me that I am getting a second family in the college life

Dislikes

Students are disliking classes they can't get into, boring professors, or large class sizes that the thing most of my batchmates are disliking in college
Students are facing challenges with managing their commitments. Because time management is a big thing when u live far from your parents
Students are experiencing stress due to a large syllabus, long hours, and the expectation to cram concepts.

Admission:

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a central university that was established in 2008 to develop a trained workforce for the maritime industry. Here are some comparisons of IMU to other universities. My college is one of the prestigious and reputed college in all over the country. That's why I have choosen this college because of their placement ratio and a good environment

Field Training is most important in this college
Paramilitary training is given in this college according to Indian Navy's marine culture

Dislikes

College campus is of average size, i.e. 33 acres
College dispensary is not upto the mark.

Indian Maritime University Kolkata Review

Likes

Placement records are good in this college, almost 90% students get placed till final year.
Classroom are good, well maintained and has centralised aur conditioning system.
There are almost every sports to play in this college for every student.

Dislikes

Some faculties are not so good and syllabus is vast as compared to other courses.
Campus area is small, it's only 30 acres.
Food quality of the mess is not so good, average quality of food is provided.

Admission:

I have cleared JEE Advanced and I got an opportunity to take admission in IIST Trivandrum, but I didn't take admission there because merchant navy was my first priority and it was my dream course. No I didn't get rejected from any colleges. The admission process is simple, you should have atleast 60% marks in PCM 12th and you have to clear IMU CET examination for taking admission in Indian Maritime University Kolkata.

Socializing is an essential part of this college
Many sports activities to choose from like football cricket hockey
Very nice hostel facilities and mess facilities

Dislikes

The quality of food provided is not up to the mark

Admission:

I only applied for this college as I only wanted this college and this course. I researched about other colleges but their placement rates were either low or their course fee was a lot higher. In both areas IMU kolkata is the best for this course

Likes

The legacy of this college is very good for students for surviving on ship.
The Aluminia network of this college is too good.
The discipline as well as the punctuality of this college helps cadets to improve their lifestyle.

Dislikes

The area of the campus is too small as compare to other colleges.
The old infrastructure of this college and the water logging problem.
In this college, their is no any stationary Shop for students so that students need to go out for buying any types of stationary.

Admission:

I also applied for tolani maritime University, Manet Pune as well as Indian maritime University Kolkata campus for pursuing my BTech marine engineering and I also selected for each of them for my course because of my good rank in Indian maritime University common intrance test .I choose this college because of its legacy, Aluminia network, good placement and affordable course fee for a middle class students. In other colleges, the placement scenario is average as compare to my college and it's course fee is too much high. The admission procedure of my college is to crack Indian maritime University common intrance test, then according to rank, you will get college. The eligibility criteria of this college to pass higher secondary school, and pcm aggregate percentage is more than 60%. No medical issues should be allowed in this field.
