IMU CET 2026 exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted in the Last week of May 2026. The test is conducted in online mode. The question paper was set in the English language only. The eligibility criteria to appear in the IMU CET 2026 exam are different for all courses. For BSc, BTech, and 1-year DNS courses, you must clear class 10+2 with 60% aggregate marks and 50% aggregate marks in English. If you opt for MSc, the minimum qualifying marks should be 55% aggregate, whereas for MBA, it is 50%.

IMU CET is conducted by the Indian Maritime University for admission to UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses, such as B. Tech, B. Sc, except BBA, M. Tech, M. Sc, and MBA with various specialisations. IMU CET 2026 is conducted once a year across 36 cities in India. Check IMU CET Participating Colleges

What is the IMU CET 2026?

IMU CET 2026 is an entrance exam conducted for admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes related to Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, and other maritime studies. It is held to select eligible candidates for courses offered by the Indian Maritime University and its affiliated institutes. Through this exam, students are selected for programs such as B.Tech Marine Engineering, B.Sc Nautical Science, BBA in Logistics, M.Tech, MBA, and other maritime fields. 

For UG courses, students must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and also meet the required medical and vision standards. For PG courses, candidates must have a relevant graduation degree with a minimum required mark. 

IMU CET 2026 FAQs 

Ques: Can I get direct admission in IMU?

Ans: NO, you cannot get direct admission in DNS Colleges without clearing or giving any Entrance Exams. In order to get admission in DNS Courses, you have to give the IMU CET Entrance exam to get admission in reputed Colleges in India.

Ques: What percentage is required for IMU?

Ans: Candidates have to pass 10+2/equivalent with a minimum of 60% of aggregated marks in any stream and a minimum of 50% marks in the English subject in the 10th / 12th Examination

Ques: How many times is IMU CET conducted in a year? 

Ans: IMU CET is conducted once a year for admission into various graduate and post-graduate programmes offered by the Indian Maritime University.

  • IMU CET 2026 Application Form has been released

IMU CET 2026 Eligibility

Candidates who want to appear for IMU CET 2026 must ensure that they qualify for all eligibility criteria mentioned in the official brochure. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

Course Eligibility Criteria
B.Tech
  • Qualification: Candidates should have passed class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English are mandatory to be eligible.
  • Age Limit: The Maximum age limit for Male Candidates is 25 to 28 years (SC/ST - 30 years), and for Female candidates is 27 to 30 years (SC/ST - 32 years).
  • Marks Criteria: At least 60% in PCM and 50% in English.
B.Sc
  • Qualification: Candidates should have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
  • Marks: At least 60% in PCM and 50% in English.
  • Relaxation: 5% relaxation is given in English marks.
DNS
  • Qualification: 10+2/equivalent (PCM Average-Minimum 60%) with a minimum of 50% marks in the English subject in 10th/12th Examination. OR B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as an individual subject in one of the years, with an average of not less than 55% of the marks in the final year. OR B.E./B.Tech. Degree from IIT or from a college recognised by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of the marks in the final year. 
  • For Male: Age limit is General-25 years, OBC(NCL)-28 years, SC/ST-30 years.
  • For Female: Age limit is General-27 years, OBC(NCL)-30 years, SC/ST-32 years.
MBA
  • Qualification: Candidates must have secured a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Marks: 50% marks in aggregate from any recognised university/institute.
  • Age Criteria: There are no age criteria. 
  • Relaxation: There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks (except English marks).
  • Eligibility Medical: All candidates who qualify for this course have to submit a Physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

Ques: Can a PCB student give the IMU CET exam? 

Ans: A PCB student cannot appear for the IMU CET exam because Mathematics is compulsory. Only candidates who have PCM or PCMB in Class 12 are eligible. 

Ques: How many attempts are allowed in the IMU CET exam? 

Ans: There is no fixed attempt limit for IMU CET. You can appear for the exam as many times as you want, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

Ques: What is the pattern of IMU CET? 

Ans: IMU CET is conducted in computer-based mode and the exam duration is 3 hours. The paper has 200 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and General Aptitude. Each correct answer carries one mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for wrong answers.

Ques: How many marks are required to qualify for the IMU CET? 

Ans: There is no fixed qualifying mark for IMU CET. The cutoff changes every year based on factors like exam difficulty, number of candidates, and available seats. However, getting around 170–180+ out of 200 usually gives you a good chance of getting a better rank and admission, depending on the programme, campus, and category.

IMU CET 2026 Counselling

IMU CET 2026 Counselling process includes – 

  • The candidates who are shortlisted (either in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd list) would be required to confirm their seats by paying the fee. This seat allotment would be provisional, and candidates will be required to carry the provisional allotment letter during the document verification process. 
  • Counselling would be done in online mode, and candidates would not be required to present themselves for the counselling at a center.
  • Seat allotment would be done based on the candidate’s choices, availability of seats, academic merit (as IMU CET 2026 has been cancelled) and his suitability based on physical, medical, and other related standards. The decision of the IMU CET 2026 exam conducting authority would be final in this regard.

Ques: Is IMU CET held twice a year?

Ans: All admissions to the various UG and PG programmes of the IMU and its Affiliated Institutes will be through All-India Common Entrance Tests (CETs) conducted every year.

Ques: What is the age limit for admission through IMU CET 2026?

Ans: As per the tentative dates IMUCET 2026 it is expected to be conducted in the month of June 20. The upper limit for IMU CET is 25 years and minimum age is 17 years as on August 1st 2025. The candidate should have at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2.

Ques: What do I need to do if I found any discrepancies on IMU CET 2026 Admit Card?

Ans: Yes, you will get a concession fee of INR 300 as an application fee. IMU CET 2026 application fee is Rs 1000 however, reserved category candidates have to pay Rs 700 only. 

Ques: Do I need to carry on the examination day along with IMU CET 2026 Admit Card?

Ans: On the day of the examination you need to bring a valid photo ID proof such as a PAN card, Passport, Driving Licence, Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, etc along with IMU CET 2026 admit card.

IMU CET is conducted at the exam centers located in about 37 cities in India. Students are allowed to select three examination centers of their choice during the registration process. IMU CET 2023 will conducted on June 10, 2023. To prepare for this examination, you must be aware of the exam syllabus and pattern, prepare a study plan according to the time available and your current level of knowledge, follow the study plan, practice solving previous year papers or mock tests.

To apply for lateral entry in the B.Tech Marine Engineering program you must have completed dipoma in engineering with at least 60% marks. Admission is offered based on the merit of IMU CET followed by counseling.

The official notification for IMU CET 2023 is yet to be released. However, the registration process for IMU CET generally starts in the month of March.
