The International Maritime Institute, established in 1991 is a private marine engineering college. The vision of the institute is to serve as an effective liaison of the maritime industry. It is the only maritime institute in North India offering B.Tech program affiliated to IMU, Chennai. Presently, IMI Greater Noida is running Pre Sea courses like Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Tech in Marine Engineering & Graduate Mechanical Engineering. Some Post sea and value-added courses are also available.

IMI Greater Noida Admissions

Candidates seeking admission need to apply online through the official website. The admission criteria for the courses are different from each other

B.Tech: For B.Tech admission, seats are allotted based on the candidate’s merit in IMU-CET Exam. Selected candidates need to appear for counselling
B.Tech (Lateral Entry): Candidates seeking admission have to appear in Pre Screening Test (PST) & Interview conducted by the Institute. Those who are selected will undergo a medical test by the Directorate General of Shipping approved doctors.
DNS: For admission to Diploma in Nautical Science, candidates need to quality OPEN-NET exam conducted by IMI
GME: Admission is granted based on a candidate’s performance in Aptitude, IQ, Reasoning, and Psychometric tests. Selected candidates also have to appear in an interview

The Institute offers excellent placement opportunities to the students and exposes them to leading national and international companies in the industry. Efficient preparation and training are given to the students in the form of Personality development classes, Aptitude & reasoning tests, internal assessments, and mock interviews

Various companies either visit the college for placement drives or put forward a call to the students to report to their office for a written test and interview. The salary package depends on the position, type of vessel, and company. Ques. Is there any financial aid for students?

Ans. DNS students can apply for sponsorship from companies. Students need to appear for a Sponsorship examination through the company’s official website

Ques. What is the application fee for DNS?

Ans. The fee of application is INR 2000

Ques. What is the eligibility to obtain sponsorship from a company?

Ans. The student must have passed 10+2 (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths) with more than 60% aggregate. Students also need to have a good IMU CET rank and have to clear the written test and interview by the company.

Ques. Does the institute offer a preparatory course for the IMU CET exam?

Ans. Yes, both regular and crash courses are offered for the students to help them prepare for the IMU CET exam. The regular course is for 2 months for a fee of Rs. 50,000 and the crash course is for one month for a fee of Rs. 30,000.

Ques. When do the courses commence at IMI Greater Noida?

Ans. B. Tech course begins in August, Diploma in Nautical Science commences in February and August and GME course begins in April and October. Value-added courses are available more frequently and can be booked online.

Industry partenerships: IMI has strong collobrations with major shipping companies, allowing students to access internshipand potential job placements upon DNS graduation. IMUCET is the entrance eligibilty exam required to clear . academically and mentally strong candidates are preffered more . before IMUCET you have to clear company sponsorships and interviews of comapany. Mine seat was also confirmed in GEIMS also .

Eligibility is 60% in pcm IMU CET qualified Sponsored by any company You can contact the admission team and they will guide you further Imi also has its pre-screening test if you want to take sponsorship from their campus If you already have a sponsorship pre screening test is not applicable Too much documentation you have to fill too many forms online or offline

Shore leave management was not good only 4 hours a week
Playground was small... We cannnot play multiple games at a time

Admission:

12th pass candidates with pcm and with percentage 60 and above can apply. Application form is available on the college official website which is of 2000? but it is included in fee once you take admission..Exam was objective type and the difficulty level was moderate. Earlier it was in offine mode but now they have gone online

Since you have completed a 3-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering, you can pursue B.Tech in Marine Engineering through lateral entry (direct second-year admission) in many institutes offering marine courses. Completing a Diploma in Marine Engineering (DME) from an DG-approved institute is a direct route. After DME or B.Tech, you must clear the Indian Maritime University or Directorate General of Shipping exams to join the Merchant Navy as an officer. Focus on medical fitness, swimming skills, and aptitude tests for eligibility.
