International Maritime Institute offers admissions to 4 years full time B.Tech. courses recognised and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping and AICTE.

IMI offers B.Tech. courses under 1 specialization only i.e. Marine Engineering.

International Maritime Institute B.Tech. And B.Tech Lateral Entry Eligibility

Eligibility for B.Tech.:

• Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with PCM as compulsory subjects and obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with a minimum of 50% marks in English.
• Candidates should have fluency in written and spoken English.
• Candidates must not be aged more than 25 years on the date of commencement of training.
• Candidates must have an eyesight of 6/6 (with or without external aids) and no colour blindness.
• Candidates must have passed the medical examination and mandatory tests prior to joining IMI.
• Candidates must have qualified the IMU-CET examination.

Eligibility for B.Tech. Lateral Entry:

• Candidates should have passed Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/ Marine Engineering from any Government Approved institution with at least 60% marks in aggregate and completed the Diploma within the stipulated period of 3 years. 
• Candidates must have passed the 10th and 10+2 examination with a minimum of 50% marks in English or in awarded Diploma.
• Candidates should be aged between 18 - 25 years as on August 1.

International Maritime Institute B.Tech. And B.Tech Lateral Entry Selection Criteria

• For B.Tech. admissions, candidates are alloted seats based on the merit in the IMU-CET examination.
• Post qualifying this exam, candidates are called for the counselling round.
• During this counselling seats will be allotted based on merit secured and candidate’s preference.

Selection Criteria for B.Tech. Lateral Entry

• Candidates are selected for admissions to B.Tech (Lateral Entry) based on the performance in Pre Screening Test (PST) and Interview conducted by the Institute.
• Selected candidates then undergo a medical examination by the Directorate General of Shipping approved doctors.
• Candidates need to pay a medical examination fee directly to the doctor. 
• Candidates also need to submit the report to the institute at the time of admission.
• Thus, the final selection is subject to payment of total fees, submission of original documents for verification and submission of Medical Fitness report by DG Shipping Approved Doctor.

International Maritime Institute Diploma in Nautical Science Eligibility 

• Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with PCM as compulsory subjects and obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
• B.Sc. Graduate candidates with a minimum of 60% in final year are also eligible to apply for the course.
• Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in English at 10+2 or 10th level.
• Candidates should have fluency in written and spoken English.
• Candidates must not be aged more than 25 years on the date of commencement of training.
• Candidates must be medically fit with eyesight 6/6 (without external aids) and no colour blindness.
• Candidates must have qualified the OPEN-NET Examination conducted by IMU.

Selection Criteria

Candidates are alloted seats based on the merit in the OPEN-NET Examination conducted by IMU. 

IMI offers a 1 year course to existing Graduates in Mechanical Engineering willing to change their career path to Marine Engineering.

IMI offers GME courses under 1 specialization only i.e. Nautical Science.

IMI Graduate Mechanical Engineering/ Diploma in Marine Engineering Eligibility 

• Candidates must have passed BE / B.Tech (Mechanical or Naval Arch) from AICTE approved college/university with 50% marks and at least 60% marks in English in either 10th or 10+2.
• Candidates should have fluency in written and spoken English.
• Candidates must not be aged more than 28 years on the date of commencement of training.
• Candidates must have an eyesight of 6/6 and no colour blindness.
• Candidates must have passed the medical examination and mandatory tests prior to joining IMI.
• Candidates must be medically fit with eyesight 6/6 (without external aids) and no colour blindness.

Selection Criteria

Candidates are alloted seats based on their performance in the Aptitude, IQ, Reasoning and Psychometric tests followed by an Interview conducted by IMI.
