Course Curriculum Overview

4

The major reason of mine selecting Mechanical Engineeering course is its relevancy and industry par curriculum at BIT Sindri. The NEP curriculum works on every aspect ranging from real world problem solving and identifying loopholes and working on those areas. The areas of improvements which I think are implementing a more practical knowledge based model curriculum and better efficient teaching methods like more of vocational training. The frequency of exams are quite well set althrough the year which includes two mid semester exams and one end semester exams. The difficulty level is decent enough to reward a student who works through his studies regularly and also passing the examinations is not much of a hassle provided you study for it.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship oppurtunities begin from the fifth semester itself in our college. Various reputed companies come to offer internships to students for various roles. The stipend may vary from 30000rs per month to 60000rs per month. Companies like Tata Steel , JSW Steel , Vedanta , ITC etc provides competitive stipends.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placements from their sixth semester. From the latest 2023-24 placement data more than 50 companies like Vedanda Resources, ITC, Samsung, Yamaha Motors, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Tata Power, Aditya Birla Group, Adani Group, L&T etc. came for placement drive and offered more than 520 offers to students and its increasing tremendously year by year. The highest package offered on campus was 16lpa by Vedanta Resources and average package of batch stood at 7.57 lpa. The top ten percent of the class recieved an average package of 13lpa and average package of top twenty five percent stood at 9.30lpa . The percentage of students placed in whole batch was 82.20% . My plans are not very fixed as I will be exploring different fields which lie upon my interest.

Fees and Financial Aid

In my first year at BIT Sindri I will paying 19830 rupees (500 rupees for university registration fee and 4000 rupees for examination fee included) as tution fee and 9500 rupes for hostel fee and 3900 rupees per month for mess fee which totals for 76130 rupees (general/obc/ews category student) for my entire first year of B.Tech at BIT Sindri,Dhanbad. For SC/ST category candidates tution fee becomes 14055 rupees and for girl/TFW (tution fee waiver) candidates tution fee becomes 12130 rupees. So for complete 4 year course total fee becomes 304520 rupees for general/obc/ews category students, 281420 for SC/ST category students and 273720 rupees as of fee brochure 2024-25 session updated by government of jharkhand as it is a state government college. For scholarships there are third party private and government scholarships and also there are scholarships given by the college itself to meritorious and financially weak students like : 1) Toppers award: 4000 rupees to 1st topper of all branchees and 3000 rupees to 2nd topper of all branches, 2) BITSAA Bermo chapter scholarship: 10000rs per annum to two first year financially weak students, 3) Shri S S Sahay award : 10000rs per annum to overall batch topper of production engg. branch, 4) Late Shri P S Sharan award: 10000rs per annum to general topper of final year, 5) Asharfi Singh scholarship: 10000rs per annum to one economically weak boy student of first year, 6) Ramsakhi Devi scholarship: 10000rs per annum to one girl student of any branch (preference to financially weak handicapped), 7) N G Mitra Award: 10000rs per annum to one financially weak handicapped student of any branch, 8) S R Sharma scholarship: 1000rs per month to one financially weak handicapped student of electronics branch. There is also a state government scholarship like eKalyan which covers the tution and hostel fee and private scholarships like relaince, siemens etc. So this was all about the fee structure and scholarships available in BIT Sindri.

Campus Life

4

There are many tech and department fests being organized regularly in campus. There are thousands of book being there to unfold in the central library of BIT Sindri. The classrooms and lecture halls are well equiped with digital boards and speakers. There are two big sports ground in the campus and provides ample oppurtunities for almost all sports. There are number of clubs and societies to join ranging from tech , cultural, social service etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The room is spacious and we get a study chair table, bed and ceiling fan . The mess food has been really good than I had expected and we get a lot of varieties as well. The registration process is really simple for hostel allotment, you just have to come in the registration office and get your room alloted. No I have not rented any PG as our hostels are sufficient for accomodation of every student.

Admission

Among the colleges I was getting in, BIT Sindri was the best choice that I could make considering its return of investment and curriculum relevancy. My score was not good enough to make into tier 1 colleges due to mismanagement during its preparation but this college has not disappointed me regarding the expectations I had. It is a very reputed and 75 years old engineering college having a robust alumni network spread over the globe. The admission process in this college is hassle free where you have to participate in JCECEB counselling conducted by the government of jharkhand.

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio is around 1:50 which would be fine enough. Almost all faculties are good and supportive and it also depends upon one individual. There would not be a major issue regarding disliking a professor . So the examination procedure here is like you will be having 2 mid semester and 1 end semester examinations . The two mid semester examinations will be your internal examinations and end semester examination is a external examination whose papers are set up by Jharkhand University of Technology. Passing the examinations with good grades is easy enough if you have studied well. But there are also quite number of students who could not clear the examinations at the first go. Talking about the course curriculum , NEP (new education policy) which was introduced by the GOI is followed from 2023-24 session in BIT Sindri. So it is highly relevant as per the current industry standards.

Interview Experience

4

No I did not had to face any group discussion , interviews or written test specifically for admission. The students are shortlisted based on the JEE mains rank only. Candidates have to participate in the JCECEB counselling comducted by government of Jharkhand and there they can set their branch preferences accordingly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.
