Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum seems outdated mostly with no relevance to present day technologies. However major changes in the syllabus are anticipated in the near future . Exams are tightly cramped between semesters,leaving proper learning out of scope.
Placement Experience
Placements begin from 7th semester for students at Model Engineering College. Many companies visit such as Oracle, Ansys, IBM, SOTI,Harman and so on. Average package is 8.1 lpa and highest package is 52 lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fee is about 70000 per year for management quota and 40000 per year for Merit quota. NRI quota fee is about 1.5 lakhs per year. This includes PTA fund as well. There are various scholarships for students like XMecians scholarships for students with ranks below 1000.
Campus Life
There are numerous clubs in Model Engineering College Kochi, there are various technical and non technical clubs for people interested in either of them. To mention few technical clubs they are FOSSMEC, NSDC MEC,TLE MEC, TINKERHUB. There are non technical clubs promoting arts and music like thudi and bharathsm as well.
Admission
The admission to Model Engineering College is based on the rank secured in KEAM. It focuses on 11th and 12th topics of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Percentage secured in board exams are also considered for the preparation of final rank list.
Faculty
The faculty at Model Engineering College, Kochi are technically sound and helpful, but the university under which the college is affiliated to seems to be incompetent. Exams are of 100 marks for 3 hours.
