Government College of Engineering (GCE) Kannur was established in 1986 as one of Kerala's leading public engineering colleges. The college is located in a picturesque area of Mangattuparamba, Kannur. GCEK is approved by the AICTE and is affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and all of the undergraduate programmes are accredited with the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) from 2023-2026.
GCE Kannur has consistently ranked among the best colleges of engineering in Kerala and India. GCEK was ranked 78 out of 160 engineering colleges in India in the IIRF 2024 rankings. Admission to B.Tech, GCEK's flagship programme, is dictated by the popular Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance exam, and has a high demand. GCE Kannur Admission 2025
Admissions at GCEK are strictly entrance exam based:
B. Tech Admission:
- Candidates are required to qualify an admission test, Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE) on behalf of the Government of Kerala.
- Eligibility: Pass in Plus Two with minimum 50% marks (or 45% marks for socially and educationally backward classes whose annual family income is below INR 42,000) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (10+2). A scheduled tribe candidate is also eligible with only a pass certificate.
- Only native candidates of Kerala or candidates meeting domicile clauses as specified are eligible.
- Selection will be based on allotment of seats based on centralized counseling process (rank obtained in KEAM, choices/preferences given by candidate, and availability of seats in the institutes).
- Lateral entry to 2nd year is allowed for holders of 40% a three-year diploma in engineering or equivalent (40% for others are also eligible).
M. Tech Admission:
- They must possess a valid B.E./B.Tech degree with minimum 50% marks.
- Admission process: Admission will be based on GATE rank and GATE score and will follow counseling by CEE Kerala.
- Candidates need to fill Kerala M.Tech application online and retain their printed Application TTL and submit with their documents that are required.
- Ranking will be done based on GATE RANK, choices given and availability of seats.
