An honest review of GCE KANNUR by a student

Likes

The college is excellent when it comes to the view point,the place and the campus is very good
There are many students from different districts and states studying together with them makes a once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy my campus life
There are many faculties who are giving their best to train the students with placement guidance and intership support

Dislikes

There aren't much i dislike in this college,but the college don't have an elevator in the main block
The college need to have a bit improvement when it comes to events
There is only one college party instead of two

Admission:

The college is merit based admission college, to get admission in this college you have to write an entrance exam which is KEAM and I have a rank of 16000 in KEAM So the college I first confirmed admission was GEC Kozhikode which was a good college but the campus was too small so there was a spot admission which was held by GCE kannur and I applied for it The admission process is managed by KEAM they give you a date to take admission and the process gets done in 2hrs you have to be physically present with your parents , The overall admission experience was smooth and well managed by the faculties

Faculty is quite supportive and engaging in classes, which is usually not expected in higher education.
Project-work and Internship opportunities are widely shared between students.
Clubs are present catering to all kinds of interest: Dance, Music, Photography, Astronomy etc.

Dislikes

Academia culture is not present between bachelors' course students.
Syllabus can be quite dull for some subjects
Plagiarism in assignments between students remains an issue

Admission:

This is the only college that I have received confirmed admission from, as I have rejected other colleges due to distance from my hometown. The admission is on the basis of the KEAM examination, and I have gotten admission on the basis of the first allotment itself, on merit.

Likes

The college have good library facilities. Every book we need to refer are in our college library.
There are many student clubs are in our college. So becoming a part of this societies help to improve us.
Teacher student bonds are super. We can doubt clearance sessions, question paper discussion sessions.

Dislikes

Over all infrastructure of college is note much good.
Placement opportunity is minimum.only less students are placed after b tech
College is not promoting internship opportunity.

Admission:

I select this college because it in my district. Thus no need of hostel and also no more travel expense. And this college is a reputed college and good academic facilities are available. Admission is through kerala entrance exam..

The college is one of the prestigious institution college for engineering in Kerala.A Student should get a good rank in Kerala engineering entrance exam to get admitted here.So we get a good social value as we study here.
Campus Life in college is very good .The campus is almost 70 acres so you can wander in a huge area.Students from all parts of Kerala study here.So we get friends from all parts of the state here
Placement is very good in this college based on last year's record almost 60 percentage of students got placed from the college and when you come to the cs department it is above 90 percentage.

Dislikes

Nowadays we always use digital transactions,But in my college Digital transactions are still a dream for us.All the payment to the college is done on currency .
There are above thousand students studying in this college .But there are only 6 buses available.It makes the journey of the students from home to college a problem
The college is situated in an industrial area .So the air pollution in the area is high.

Admission:

I have applied for many other colleges but this college was i chooses because this college has a good nirf ranking when compared to the other colleges I had applied like GCE Idukki,GCE wayanad etc. Also I was rejected from CET Trivandrum as my rank was not that good enough to get admitted there.To get admission in GCE Kannur there are numerous conditions like you must be student from Kerala,Must have passed Kerala engineering entrance exam within the cutoff rank to get admission letter from the college.

Likes

The freedom we get in the campus and the campus life.
Well equipped labs and workshops for all branches
The college is located between kannur payyannur road.So we can walk easily reach college by road.

Dislikes

There is a lot of assignments in each semester.
There are two series exams and one semester exam in each semester.
My batch is still following KTU'd old 2019 scheme.

Admission:

The admission in this college is based on the entrance exam KEAM conducted by Government of Kerala. Students who passed 12th in science stream can attend KEAM exam. And polytechnic students can get admission into second year by lateral entry.There is seperate exam for that.

About GCE kannur

Likes

Campus view:so calm and nature friendly, well cleaned campus
Hostel: when compare to other college hostel, gce kannur hostel is soo good, wifi, water filter, affordable mess fee
Programme: programmes are conduct every week, like music night, ethinic day, diwali, onam etc

Dislikes

Infrastructure is not good as an engineering college ,should be improvede,
Ac, lab infrastructure is required, and canteen should be improved
There is only one political party (SFI) , i think it's better when having other party

Admission:

KTU university admission is through KEAM entrance examination, and also add +2 marks in mathematics, physics, chemistry. The cutt off is based on category like general,OBC, SC etc, SC category get more reservations Every College help desk will help the admission process through online and offline, KEAM entrance exam is not much difficult, syllabus is based on plus one and plus two, In 2024 exams are conducted by different shift like JEE I think that category based reservation should be stop, because it effect highly scored students opportunity

The college has reallh good well qualified faculties
The college has a big recently inaugurated library
College has a very good physical education department

Dislikes

The canteen facilities must have been better
The placement opportunities are very less
Internship opportunities are very less from college side

Admission:

For getting into Kannur government college of engineering we need to go through KEAM examination which is conducted for students who have passed class 12. KEAM examination is comparatively easy when compared with JEE or other exams. The exam consist of Physics chemistry and Mathematics. Prepration can be done along with 11th 12 th preparation.

The faculty is very experienced and the department is accredited by nba .
Good library and resource facilities for exam preparation and other academic studies
Good canteen facility with homely food and price concession for students .

Dislikes

Not much internship opportunities provided directly from college.
Exam and academic schedule is tight with frequent exams and assignments.
Not much placements from college with high packages.

Admission:

To be eligible for this course a student needs to pass KEAM entrance examination with a certain rank for each category. The rank cutoff may vary each year depending on the choices made by students across the state.The exam occurs in june every year and application form can be availed in keam website.
