Admissions at GCEK are strictly entrance exam based:
B. Tech Admission:
- Candidates are required to qualify an admission test, Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE) on behalf of the Government of Kerala.
- Eligibility: Pass in Plus Two with minimum 50% marks (or 45% marks for socially and educationally backward classes whose annual family income is below INR 42,000) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (10+2). A scheduled tribe candidate is also eligible with only a pass certificate.
- Only native candidates of Kerala or candidates meeting domicile clauses as specified are eligible.
- Selection will be based on allotment of seats based on centralized counseling process (rank obtained in KEAM, choices/preferences given by candidate, and availability of seats in the institutes).
- Lateral entry to 2nd year is allowed for holders of 40% a three-year diploma in engineering or equivalent (40% for others are also eligible).
M. Tech Admission:
- They must possess a valid B.E./B.Tech degree with minimum 50% marks.
- Admission process: Admission will be based on GATE rank and GATE score and will follow counseling by CEE Kerala.
- Candidates need to fill Kerala M.Tech application online and retain their printed Application TTL and submit with their documents that are required.
- Ranking will be done based on GATE RANK, choices given and availability of seats.

- KEAM/GATE Hall ticket
- Caste/Income certificates (if applicable)
- Domicile certificate

The college is merit based admission college, to get admission in this college you have to write an entrance exam which is KEAM and I have a rank of 16000 in KEAM
So the college I first confirmed admission was GEC Kozhikode which was a good college but the campus was too small so there was a spot admission which was held by GCE kannur and I applied for it
The admission process is managed by KEAM they give you a date to take admission and the process gets done in 2hrs you have to be physically present with your parents ,
The overall admission experience was smooth and well managed by the faculties

I have applied for many other colleges but this college was i chooses because this college has a good nirf ranking when compared to the other colleges I had applied like GCE Idukki,GCE wayanad etc. Also I was rejected from CET Trivandrum as my rank was not that good enough to get admitted there.To get admission in GCE Kannur there are numerous conditions like you must be student from Kerala,Must have passed Kerala engineering entrance exam within the cutoff rank to get admission letter from the college.

The admission in this college is based on the entrance exam KEAM conducted by Government of Kerala. Students who passed 12th in science stream can attend KEAM exam. And polytechnic students can get admission into second year by lateral entry.There is seperate exam for that.

KTU university admission is through KEAM entrance examination, and also add +2 marks in mathematics, physics, chemistry.
The cutt off is based on category like general,OBC, SC etc, SC category get more reservations

In 2024 exams are conducted by different shift like JEE
