02 Feb, 2026 KEAM 2026 registration has begun @cee.kerala.gov.in for admission to BTech/ BArch/ BPharm/ UG AHS courses. The last date to apply is Feb 6, 2026 (extended). Read News.

The Government Engineering College, Idukki (GECI) was established in 2000 under the Directorate of Technical Education Government of Kerala.

The college is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kottayam and is approved by the AICTE
College has a campus of 25 acres located in the hilly areas of kerala making it suitable location for academic pursuit
College aims to impart quality education to students
College offers 5 undergraduate and 4 post graduate programmes
Admission in Undergraduate programmes are based on Common Entrance Test in Kerala and in post graduate programmes are based on GATE
College is also under TEQIP phase 2

Extracurricular activities:

IPR CELL-Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) cell started functioning in the college from 5th of April 2011 with the main objective to create awareness among people on Intellectual Property rights
English Club: college conducts club activities for improving soft skills of students

Facilities:

Library: Library has 12000 books. It also subscribes to 36 national journals, 36 international journals, 5 News papers and 9 periodicals .It also subscribe e-journal of IEEE.

Hostels: The College has five main Hostels - The Men’s Hostel – I for senior male students, The Men’s Hostel – II (Near SBT) for first year male students, Ladies Hostel for senior girl students, Staff Hostel and C7 Hostel.

Center for Engineering Research and Development: It is developed by Kerala Govt. as a platform for both students and faculty to pursue their interest in research in engineering.

EDUSAT interactive terminal: It was developed by ISRO in college to enable distant education.

Visiting Faculty Programme: Senior faculty from various renowned institutes like IITs come here deliver lecture on interesting current topics.

Festivals:

Onam- was celebrated with clear show of cohesiveness among the students. Celebrated by staff by creating a beautiful pookalam.
Independence Day- the day of freedom is celebrated with enthusiasm among all members.
Annual Day
AAGNEYA-It is techno-cultural fest organized by the students.

The admission procees is based on an entrance exam KEAM . The rank in this eaxm reulst in the allotment of students in different colleges.

Transportation facilities are note appreciable.

Admission:

The selection and admission process to government enginnering colleges is mainly based on a competitive exam KEAM .the qualified students in KEAM exam gets an opportunity to arrange and give their respective courses and colleges in allotment process. Then each college has a cut off for rank and students are placed accordingly.

Nature friendly.NBA accredited.Teachers are so good at our academics

Admission process is done through KEAM entrance exam.Average rank holders will get seat in this college.I choose RIT,GEC Thrissur over this college but I didn't get because of my rank.But college is good and calm.Faculties are good.Arts and sports are available.To get admission in CS is really hard

Going through the days and nights

The climate should be appreciated well. The fresh air of Idukki is obviously a key factor for our peace mind.

Dislikes

Also the mai drawback is the poor placement drives.Many factors including the location makes this college with a very few placement offers.
One thing many people feel uncomfortable with our college is the remote location as you neet to go about 8kms to get to a proper shop even hospital.

The first college I got selected was the mar ivanious college Thiruvananthapuram for bsc mathematics course. But later I got a seat for BTech computer science and engineering in this college and I decided to join here because I preferred a professional course rather than a degree. The admission process is based on the keam rank you get after writing the keam examination. The syllabus for this exam is higher secondary mathematics physics and chemistry. After publication of ranks the allotment will be conducted on the preference options.

The admission is through the KEAM exam. In 2020 the last rank was 12k something.Cut off varies with the cast.If yur are lookng Btech admission, then you have to qualify the KEAM entrance exam, mainly t3 subjects:Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Admission is besed on the score.

Likes

Best club and organisation like culture and technical organisation in the college. Organisations like IEEE student branch are very active in the campus.

Dislikes

Office work delays and issues related to the geographic location of the college.
The college doesn't have a good ground and the sports events are happening in other grounds near to the college.

The admission for the college is only through KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical Entrance) all caste based and income based reservations are available and the admission are based on the entrance examination.

Likes

The library is good and we get almost every book related to our course.
The college atmosphere is very good. The campus is neat and tidy

Dislikes

The office staffs behavior is not tolerable.

Admission:

The course eligibility is plus two and you should score a decent amount of marks. The next step would be goint through an entrance examination and score good marks in them the syllabus for the entrance examination is same as that of plus two. The entrance examination is called KEAM and after that the admission process to the colleges are all online.

Likes

Ecofriendly campus with good climate, can have a good studying atmosphere.

Dislikes

Campus have small ground and it does not allow the students to bring there sport activities.
Union representatives are very rude and bad behaviour

Admission:

The cut off rank to get admission in Government engineering College Idukki is under 20000 all Kerala rank. We got NAAC accreditation on 2023. Because of that the cutoff rank will reduced to allocate efficient students in the college.
