Government Engineering College, Idukki (GECI) is a prestigious engineering institute situated in the district of Idukki inKerala. Established in 2000, the institute is permanently affiliated to Kerala Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram.
At present, GECI Idukki offers B.Tech and M.Tech programs in various disciplines. B.Tech program is offered in 5 specializations viz. Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. The institute offers M. Tech in the following specializations - VLSI & Embedded Systems, Computer Science & Systems Engineering, Power Electronics & Control and Network Engineering.
- B.Tech candidates need to qualify 10+2 in science stream with minimum 50% marks in PCM.
- M.Tech. candidates must have a graduate degree in the relevant or allied discipline with at least 60% marks.
- Candidates applying for M.Tech. program are selected through a counselling process on the basis of GATE score.
- BE/ B.Tech candidates are selected through Kerala CAP counselling. Seats are allotted on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in KEAM.

Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech program offered by GCEI can apply online through Kerala CEE website. The application fee for general candidates is INR 800 while SC/ST candidates enjoy complete fee waiver. The prescribed fee can be paid at the designated bank branches while obtaining the prospectus and security key card.
- SC/ ST and other reserved category candidates are provided a relaxation of 5% in minimum marks to be obtained in the last qualifying exam.
- Candidates should have scored at least 50% marks in Mathematics at 10+2 level.
- Outside Kerala candidates can apply under non-Keralite quota.
- The total number of seats available for the different courses will be published prior to the commencement of CAP.

Government Engineering College, Idukkioffers admission to PG level course i.e. M.Tech on the basis of GATE score and marks obtained by the candidate in the last qualifying exam. Non-GATE candidates are eligible for direct admission but only after filling of seats by GATE candidates.
- The minimum required eligibility criterion for admission to M. Tech. courseis a Bachelors’ degree in the relevant stream.
- The applicant should have a BE or B. Tech degree with at least 50% marks.
- All shortlisted applicants are required to attend counselling conducted by Kerala Technological University before the final merit list is declared.
- Application forms can be filled through online mode. Application fee can be paid via debit / credit card, net-banking.

For B.Tech Admission:
- The applicant must purchase Security Key Card and information brochure through the designated Post Offices assigned by the CEE board.
- Candidate arethen required to apply for KEAM by logging on to the Kerala CEE website
- The applicant should select the course/courses which he/she desires to study while applying online.
- Copy of the printout of the complete application form must be retained for future reference.
- A copy of the printout of the application form should be sent to CEE board on or before the last date.

For M.Tech Admission:
M. Tech applicants can apply with a GATE score by filling the online application issued by the Director of Technical Education (DTE). The candidates must enter their preference of course and college while filling the application form. Submission of application fee can be done by downloading/ obtaining a SBT Bank challan and fee paid at the nearest SBT branch.
