Reflections on the Journey of College Life

Likes

Faculty members are well trained and are qualified mostly from IITs and NITs.
Environmental setup is really awesome and calm.
Library offers a large variety of books. Other than common library each department has a department library.

Dislikes

Labs are not well furnished and well maintained.
Office staff are somewhat rude to students,

I have applied to 9 Governmnet engineering colleges . I got admission from Government Engineering College Wayanad and from Kozhikode. Both the admissions were denied due to travelling reasons. The admission procees is based on an entrance exam KEAM . The rank in this eaxm reulst in the allotment of students in different colleges.

Likes

Climate and environmental conditions suitable for peaceful mind .
Library with wife range of variety of books .
Nowadays , perfect functioning of placement cell

Dislikes

Teaching is not much appreciable. Students have to study and prepare individually for must exams.
Labs are just starting to function rather note adequate
Transportation facilities are note appreciable.

Admission:

The selection and admission process to government enginnering colleges is mainly based on a competitive exam KEAM .the qualified students in KEAM exam gets an opportunity to arrange and give their respective courses and colleges in allotment process. Then each college has a cut off for rank and students are placed accordingly.

Nature friendly.NBA accredited.Teachers are so good at our academics
Cold climate and eco friendly campus.Campus is like a tourist spot
Faculties are highly qualified and experienced

Dislikes

Bus availability is not so good.we have to wait bus for going anywhere.As a hilly place bus availability is limited
Network issue and range isuse.sometimes sim network is completely shutdown
On campus placements are less.we have to placed through outcampus

Admission process is done through KEAM entrance exam.Average rank holders will get seat in this college.I choose RIT,GEC Thrissur over this college but I didn't get because of my rank.But college is good and calm.Faculties are good.Arts and sports are available.To get admission in CS is really hard

Going through the days and nights

Likes

The main factor I liked was the faculty interactions especially in our department. They were so dedicated and experienced that made oru job easy.The internal exams were conducted in correspondence to the semester exams making us prepared.
The climate should be appreciated well. The fresh air of Idukki is obviously a key factor for our peace mind.
The ladies hostel is good and cheap comparing to other expensive PGs. They maintain neat rooms and bathrooms.

Dislikes

One thing many people feel uncomfortable with our college is the remote location as you neet to go about 8kms to get to a proper shop even hospital.
Also the mai drawback is the poor placement drives.Many factors including the location makes this college with a very few placement offers.
The mens suffer a lot with the absence of a college hostel and they need to search for other shelter options.

The first college I got selected was the mar ivanious college Thiruvananthapuram for bsc mathematics course. But later I got a seat for BTech computer science and engineering in this college and I decided to join here because I preferred a professional course rather than a degree. The admission process is based on the keam rank you get after writing the keam examination. The syllabus for this exam is higher secondary mathematics physics and chemistry. After publication of ranks the allotment will be conducted on the preference options.

GECI:Engineering in the hills

Likes

Natural Beauty: The college is located in a region famous for its natural beauty, including forests, mountains, and rivers. Providing a good atmosphere for studying.
Faculties:They are vey supportive and encouraging.
College activities:Arts and Tech fest days are the best days.

Dislikes

Placements: Comparatively placement opportunities are less. Why because the college is on the top of a hill.
Hostel:There is two hostels for girls. Bt there is no any good boys hostel.
Wifi range : Wifi range is poor at some locations of the college.

The admission is through the KEAM exam. In 2020 the last rank was 12k something.Cut off varies with the cast.If yur are lookng Btech admission, then you have to qualify the KEAM entrance exam, mainly t3 subjects:Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Admission is besed on the score.

Government Engineering College Idukki in my POV

Likes

Faculties are the best since it is one of the Government Engineering College of Kerala under the Kerala Technological University (KTU)
Best club and organisation like culture and technical organisation in the college. Organisations like IEEE student branch are very active in the campus.

Dislikes

College doesn't provide with boys hostel for the boys and the hostel is being under construction.
The college doesn't have a good ground and the sports events are happening in other grounds near to the college.
Office work delays and issues related to the geographic location of the college.

The admission for the college is only through KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical Entrance) all caste based and income based reservations are available and the admission are based on the entrance examination.

Likes

The college atmosphere is very good. The campus is neat and tidy
The library is good and we get almost every book related to our course.
The student who take admission here are from all over kerala.

Dislikes

The office staffs behavior is not tolerable.

Admission:

The course eligibility is plus two and you should score a decent amount of marks. The next step would be goint through an entrance examination and score good marks in them the syllabus for the entrance examination is same as that of plus two. The entrance examination is called KEAM and after that the admission process to the colleges are all online.

It's my genuine review from my bottom of heart

Likes

Ecofriendly campus with good climate, can have a good studying atmosphere.
Faculty is well graduated and there core knowledge is outstanding and they are friendly nature

Dislikes

Union representatives are very rude and bad behaviour
Small canteen as compared to other college and lack of amenities
Campus have small ground and it does not allow the students to bring there sport activities.

Admission:

The cut off rank to get admission in Government engineering College Idukki is under 20000 all Kerala rank. We got NAAC accreditation on 2023. Because of that the cutoff rank will reduced to allocate efficient students in the college.

Likes

One thing is beautiful atmosphere in rainy and cold seasons three must be full of fog it is very good and I liked that atmosphere
In summer season also it is not heavy hot and in some days fog also there and here is more places to visit and it is a wonderful place to study
And the most important is it is a friendly campus and there is no ragging and more entertainment and the teachers are more friendly with us

Dislikes

Transportation facility is very poor notmuch poor but it so difficult but after evening buses for other routes direct bus not be received
For some sim network is very bad and in rainy season also some network error
Most worst situation is hostel we dont like the hostel life it is very bad and the hostel food also ver bad

Admission:

The admission is accord to the rank obtained in the keam exam it is calculed according the average mark obtained in physics , chemistry , mathematics and the mark obtained in the keam exam and according to these a rank list is made and the admission of the students is considered according the rank

Likes

The teachers students staffs , the way they teach
The teachers are so adorable they teach the modules
Students are so encouraging..... There were so many opportunities to develop our skills

Dislikes

The atmosphere of the college like the sudden change of whether
Some basic facilities are not available like bus

The eligibility of the course is the keam rank . Go to the admission desk there find the application form fees details The reservation for based on the caste 3 hours of exm some time the exam is hard
