Course Curriculum Overview
I am currently studying in Electronics and Computer Engineering and in this we are being taught about both the electronics as well as computer part like digital communication, analog electronics, Data structures, Operating Systems etc. It is very relevant as it helps us in understanding about real world operations. Though the electronics part is a bit tought but it will help you prepare better for the upcoming challenges. The overall courses are all up to date.
Internships Opportunities
The interships opportunities starts from 5 semester and are constantly there for students to apply for and have a intern but there is a Cgpa cut in these which is almost 9 cgpa which is on the higher side. The projects and tasks are simple in terms of data structures.
Placement Experience
From 7 semester the placement season starts in thapar and many companies like google, amazon, JP morgan etc visits the campus and offers placements to the students. The placement offer varies from 12 lakh to 20-30 lakhs depending on the company which offers job. The highest package last year was 48 lakhs through campus placement and the average placement is around 14-15 lakhs. The students getting placement is around 60-70% which is in the resession period but all in all the placements in Thapar is good.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure according to today's standards are on a higher end as the overall cost of one semester fees is around 2 lakhs and the complete cost of education including hostels and food is around 25 lakhs which is on the higher side for engineering. There are scholarships also provider to the students which is of 2 types one is given to overall cgpa basis and other is annual cgpa basis. Campus internships and placements are also there which is a good opportunity for students here to get a job
Campus Life
The overall experience is very good in thapar as we get to experience two fests which are saturnalia which is a cultural fest and it is held on a grand scale and it is held in the month of November end and the other fest is a sports fest called URJA in which teams from all the other colleges come and compete among each other to get the best of each other. Nava nalanda library in thapar is one of the best libraries in Asia and it provides us with all the best books available in each and every field. The sports and other facilities are also good and all the club activities are fun and are held all year long which helps and enjoying the life in thapar
Hostel Facilities
The hostels provided by thapar are one of the best in india as they provide us with well maintained rooms and facilities with 24/7 cleaning which creates a good facility. The meal is good and the menu includes south indian, chole bhature, pav bhaji, Paneer and naan etc in a week. The registration is done through the mail sent by the dean office and the fees are arount 45k to 60 k depending on the hostels you are opting. There are students living in PG too and are not very far from campus so all and all the hostels facilities are good.
Admission
I applied through board marks which was 95.6 in 12th and i simply applied from the website of thapar and I got Electronic and Computer Engineering here. The course here are all good and the application form is available on Thapar website. To get in Thapar is a bit difficult if you are applying for computer courses but all and all it is easy.
