When we talk about RKMGEC, PURULIA, You will get overall good faculty members with all core branches Considering ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING particularly, The faculties are well experienced and hard working with students, They take classes properly to cover the syllabus on time with practical laboratory classes. Most of the faculties are having PhD degree and Masters in their field. Faculty: student ratio is 1:8 which is ok. For each semester, 4 internal term/exam called CA (Continuous assessment) and 2 PCA(Practical Cont. Assessment) is conducted by College and University as follows: CA 1 : MS WORD OR WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT (EASY) BY COLLEGE CA 2 : MS POWERPOINT PRESENTATION (EASY) BY COLLEGE CA 3 : MIDTERM 1 WRITTEN THEORY EXAM (EASY TO MODERATE SOMETIMES HARD ALSO) BY COLLEGE CA 4 : MIDTERM 2 MCQ ONLINE EXAM BY UNIVERSITY PCA 1: VIVA QUESTIONS AND PRACTICAL COPY SUBMISSION. (FOR SOME TOPIC SAY TOPIC 1) PCA 2: VIVA QUESTIONS AND PRACTICAL COPY SUBMISSION. (FOR REMAINING TOPIC SAY TOPIC 2)

Most of the students got the opportunities in companies like KTPS, DPS, etc and in some good PSUs like DVC, SAIL Durgapur. Recently batch of 2026 got the internship at SAIL DURGAPUR as a role of trainee and got some certification.

From 4th year or say 7th sem students having abilities and knowledge of their respective field can sit or say eligible for campus placement. Top recruiting companies are COGNIZANT, TECH MAHINDRA, TCS, WIPRO, ZENSAR, HCL, INFOSYS. The highest package offered is 14 LPA while 3.6 is the average offered salary to the students who successfully passed all qualification for the job offer. An average of 50-60% students get placed each year.

As it is a Government College so fees is minimal per year. Admission fee is about 7-8k for non TFW students and for TFW it's 4.5k. Also W.B. Govt. give an Scholarship amount of 60k/yr to almost all students, there is some marks criteria which can easily be scored by students as well as the income criteria of maximum of 2.5L/yr named as SVMCM. College has to verify it then it will be sanctioned with in a month or two. As far as Internships are concerned you should find the suitable one by your own and then can have the permission or letter signed from Principal. Recently some of the 3rd year students got the internship at SAIL Durgapur which is a PSU, So you can also get good internships like mentioned untill and unless you seek for it.

Aikatan is the annual Techno-Cultural Fest of our college, it's well organised by the seniors and event manager and conducted every year in the month of June-July. There is a central library of college where you can gel plenty of reference books. Class rooms are well equipped with all required amenities and also under the surveillance of CCTV camera. Sports (Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton etc.) and extracurricular activities like coding competition, gaming competition, post making, video editing is organised yearly in the month of Feb-March.

Admission is done based on the rank obtained by candidate in the State Joint Entrance Examination named as WBJEE. Application form can be downloaded after the release of WBJEE Rank card at respective college websites. In WBJEE almost 90% of the seat is for domicile (W.B.) students and they actually get the benefits of it while around 10% of the seats are for non domicile students i.e. for out of W.B. students (IN CASE OF GOVERNMENT COLLEGES/INSTITUTE). Tips to new joinee: Must read the Information Brochure of WBJEE, consider each step regarding admission and all. Be ready with your documents required for admission don't wait for rank card.
