A brief overview of RKMGEC

The structure of curriculum is not so great. Definitely there is a scope for improvement . We are under MAKAUT university and through job readiness perspective the structure of curriculum is below average. Lots of inclusion of different subjects are needed along with the exclusion of lengthy monotonous subjects which doesn't yield any result.

Fees is catered over semesters. We have 8 semesters. The fees is Rs. 6000/- for CSE, ECE and for EE, ME and CE it is Rs. 3000/- So per year there are 2 semesters therefore yearly fees are Rs. 12000/- for CSE and ECE and Rs. 6000/- for EE, ME and CE.

The overall ambience of the campus is great. Several activities are going all year round be it freshers, farewell all any other festivities like Ganesh puja or Christmas as mentioned in the calendar. But infrastructure is not so great. The labs of several department are underwhelming. Even the descent instruments to carry out an experiment is not given.

Hostel facility is great. But the food is not so great. Coming to the fees structure it is Rs. 12000 per semester. So yearly it is Rs. 24000. Meal is provided two times a day - lunch and dinner. Veg meal is provided throughout the week at lunch. Dinner is non veg meal (meat, fish or egg) except for one day (Thursday night).

The main reason students come to this college is because of the fact that fees are affordable and also this is purely government college. Admission process is quite easy you need all the necessary documents (Aadhar, Pan, etc) along with your WBJEE scorecard and rankcard. Other important fact to mention is that only students who are permanent resident of West Bengal can seek for admission. You need a domicile certificate for that.

Faculty members are really great. They are one of the best in their respective fields. Coming to exam patterns for each semester we have theory exams of 75 marks and the remaining 25 marks is catered through internal exams. So total we give exams out of 100- 75 from theory exams and 25 from internals. For practical also there is total 100 marks alloted out of which 75 comes through practical exams and remaining 25 through internals.

Nightlife is peaceful. But transportation is difficult. Only one returning train is there after evening . If you miss it you have to wait till morning. Overall it is great. Several sports activities also are going around during this time be it badminton or cricket.
