Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I was passionate about electronics stuffs and networking so i preferred ECE, and even while being the opening rank of this department and getting CSE, i didn't like the coding thing. We get internals twice in a semester and as a first year guy we only have 3 subjects. But since it's autonomous, questions are made very tough and hard to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4

Since I'm a first year fresher, I don't have much experience and knowledge about internships here, but we have very active training and placement cell in our college and further we have to perform various projects and etc to learn and earn from.

Placement Experience

4.5

We get to sit for placements from 3rd year onwards and we get various companies here. Highest package offered was 63LPA and average is around 8LPA for core and 11-12LPA for non core departments. We have got 100% placements last year but I won't prefer to sit for placements rather prepare for CAT and get into business field.

Fees and Financial Aid

This is the third most affordable engineering college in west bengal and majority students get SVMCM scholarship so the fees becomes free and some extra cash still remains in hands. Also we are given students credit card facility but that's not at all recommended for govt colleges.

Campus Life

4.5

We have two big fests in our college, Sristi, our tech fest and JECLAT, our annual fest. We have good library facility where we can take 3 books for entire 6 months and one book once a week. We have various clubs for extra curricular activities including sports and business too

Hostel Facilities

4

We have very affordable hostel fare and food quality is average here. We are offered with chicken thrice a week and fish twice, and egg once. Registration of hostel is done once after all 3 rounds of admissions are done and hostel is allotted distance wise.

Admission

To get into JGEC one must secure good rank in WBJEE and pass 12th with minimum 45% in PCM or 40% for SC/ST catagory. WBJEE exam can be given by anyone across India but to opt for a govt college, one must fulfil a home state quota i.e. he/she or his/her parents should be a citizen of West Bengal for atleast last 10 years. (Although this domicile certificate can easily be gathered by bribe to rural side SDO/BDO office. Rest allover the college is good and recommended.

At JGEC,campus placements begin mostly from the 6th/final year semester, when students become eligible .I recent years many well-known companies have visited such as Pinnacle Infotech,Synnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt.Ltd,,TCS,Jyesta corporate Entity and many more. The highest package was around 54 LPA form Google ,While the overall average is 10.2LPA.Many students also take internships, industrial training or prepare for higher studies(GATE) rather than accepting direct placement immediately. The exact percentage of student getting palcement is no where. But last year the percentage placed is 70%.
