Remarks

You have to clear the exam of JEE Mains to take admitted to this college. But you can also get admission with your 12th board marks. The application form is available at their official website at the time of admission generally in January. 50% of seats are reserved for their own Punjab state and the remaining are for other states. And last but not least 50% of students get direct admission based on their 12th board marks. So, no need to worry about it if your JEE Mains rank is not good.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course in this college because the CSE course is one of the best courses in this college in comparison to all other courses. The faculty: student ratio is 35:1. Mostly all the faculties are Ph.D. holders and have completed their masters from well-known IITs. One thing good about this college is that the teaching process is not textbook based but it is based on the practical world to make you industry ready. Like many other engineering colleges, there are two exams in one semester i.e. mid-term and end-term.

Internships Opportunities

Students are eligible for internships from the beginning of their 3rd year. Many good companies visit our college for internships. Some of them are Microsoft, Deshaw, etc. Job roles offered by these companies are mainly Software engineers. There are many internship programs conducted in our college to make you industry-ready and definitely placement ready.

Placement Experience

From the beginning of the 4th year, students are eligible for good placements because companies start to come to our college from the end of the 3rd year. Many good companies come to our college like IITs. Some of them are- Microsoft, Arcesiym, Samsung, etc. The highest package is 40 LPA, the average package is 7 LPA and the lowest package is 5 LPA. Approximately 85-90% of students get placement from this college. So, if you are tense about your placement then don't worry if you are focused on your study for the 4 years in this college then you will get placed in good company.

Fees and Financial Aid

The only course fee per sem is about Rs219000 excluding hostel and mess fees. Scholarships are also available in this college. Scholarships are based on merit here and they are generally for students who are coming from economically weaker sections according to their parent's annual income. Since college provides good placements so many of us are spending money in this college even without having any scholarship.

Campus Life

There are many annual fests and tech fests conducted in our college. One of them is Saturnalia. It is always conducted in the month of September-October. A very big library is also present in our college and any student can issue any book from that. AC, projectors, and all other required equipment are available in our class for our better study. If you are interested in sports then don't worry because you will be having all types of sports in this college. There are also different grounds for different sports. And if you are a good swimmer then you will also have a swimming pool to swim. Many clubs and societies are also available for you. If you are interested then you will join them.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are just amazing in our college and one of the best in them is Hostel O. All the hostels are fully air-conditioned. In every room, there is a bed, a study table, a chair, and a cupboard for every student. Mess food is also good here in comparison to all other nearby colleges. So, no need to worry about food. One most important thing is that we are assigned our hostels according to our grades.

Likes

The infrastructure is great with state of the art labs and equipment
The library is really nice place to study
Lots of hangout spots in and around campus

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

The environment of the college is so nice, helpful staff, AC labs for CS deptt.
Canteen and water facilities and park in both deptts

Distance of travelling coz for me its too much far
Nothing as of now everything was good enough

- Limited campus opportunities were available, and most students become eligible from the final year. - The average package was around 2-5 LPA. - after my degree my plan is to improve my employability my strengthening my technical skill in my domain

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
