Remarks

The admission process was straightforward. I faced no difficulty. I just registered in a form; then, after some weeks, they realized the cut-off marks based on which course was given. The application form is available on the leading site of the college, and registration fees are around 1500. there was 50% reservation for home state students that was the thing for which some students were feeling bad during couselling.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I was interested in cse and that's why I opted for it. The faculty is very great easy to reach no problem in contacting them. Almost all the faculty is Ph.D. Their teaching methods are very practical and easy to learn. Exams are held twice a semester and some biweekly tests and quality of those are good. intelligent students are able to maintain an average cgpa of 8.5 and above.

Internships Opportunities

5

There is a great number of internship opportunities in the college. It has tie-up with great companies that offer a great number of opportunities to do internships with a high stipend. Students can also take internships off-campus. on-campus, internships start from the 3rd year that is the 5th semester.

Placement Experience

4.5

College offer very great campus placements. It has tie up with very big multi national companies to offer great placement opportunities to its students. Almost all the students gets placed and those who don't are often pursuing higher studies or off campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees is very high of the college it's almost 5 lacs per annum. Which is a great amount but the return u get from the college after you complete the degree is worth it. I have not availed any scholarships yet. scholarships are given on the basis of merit of jee mains and boards score in the first year (top 10 % students of every branch gets scholarship) and afterward, it is given on the basis of cgpa.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus Life is very good. It's very entertaining and lively. there are many clubs and you can join any number of clubs and they also conduct very fun activities also. There is also sports facilities available. all kinds of sports and playgrounds are there in thapar university campus.classrooms are fully air contioned and neat and clean.

Hostel Facilities

4

hostels are good in thapar but rooms are small. there is a total of 8 hostels of boys and 2 hostels of girls. students face difficulty in calling cleaning staff. some students even clean the room on their own because the cleaning staff doesn't respond even on calling them. mess food is very bad. most of the students order online through zomato or swiggy. PGs are available near campus at a 4.5k rent per month of single ac room with attach toilet.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
