Entrance Preview
There was no entrance exam and admissions were taken on the basis of the percentage acquired in 12th class. I chose the course because i did not make it to NIFT Delhi which was my first option but this being the second option to reach to masses, i joined this course.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of the course is really effective in the sense that it covers many diverse areas that fall under the umbrella of journalism (cinema , research, management,events too) and finally when we graduate we really know our inclinations towards any side.
Internships Opportunities
There is an active placement cell that works on regular basis, conducts interviews etc. They offer many internships whose stipends vary from 5000/- to 15000/- depending upon if its full time or after college.
Placement Experience
In my course, no big media companies come for placement but last time for our fresh batch, Zee TV tagged along few of them and paid really well. Many go for the internships and end up working there only. A lot of us study further for specialisation in the specific interested field.
College Events
The Annual day of college, main college fest along with the departmental fests of various departments and societies, NCC fest, fresh face conducted by HT and Times of India are the main events conducted every year. There are departmental freshers' parties conducted.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It being under Delhi and partly Central Government,the fee is very very nominal for the facilities we get example we had 10,000/- per year for the course and for other courses it was much less than this. There are scholarships for students who are economically weak that really helps.
Fees and Financial Aid
I never received any scholarship or loan neither do i know any specific one but my friends who were economically weak did use to get some regular scholarships. I only got nominal prize money of 500 for standing 2nd in 2nd year.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network depends on the course actually. For example, the alumni of Journalism department are working well in industry but they are spread widely as in some are in print, some in broadcast, some in PR and Ad etc. They are only helpful if you are interested in their respective fields.
Admission
This is the only procedure for admission.The centralised Delhi University form that comes somewhere near April is the form that needs to be filled for this. When the cutoffs are out in June/July, we need to take all the required documents to the college.
Faculty
There is a lack of permanent faculty now but the faculty that is permanent is without any doubt the best one can think. Many a times adhoc or additional lecturers are called from outside but it really depends on how lucky you are that you get a good one.
