Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is good, it's a central university and follows the NEP and everyone has some or the other conflicts about it, I think we are thought some unnecessary papers because in their place if we had more papers of our core course instead of random subjects, the learning could be increased very much and would've made the course much more interesting as well.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college placement cell sends various internship opportunities every week but they're from very random start ups and NGOs, no big names so there's not point in specifying any particular, the roles offered are generally of copy writing, marketting, and advertising.

Placement Experience

2

The college has a placement cell which comes up with lots and lots of internship and job offers throughout the year, you get multiple new job opportunities every week but the campus placement is not all that great, B Com courses have somewhat decent placements. the college doesn't push very much or try much to get students placed, you're on your own.

Fees and Financial Aid

The addmission is through CSAS counselling and when you're alloted a college you have to pay a lock amount of ?10000/- which is adjusted in the college fees when you finalize your admission, after that, the college itself has a yearly fee of ?10100/- approx. and every semester you have to register yourself for DU examination which costs another ?1000-1100/- per semester, so for the whole year your have to pay about 12500/- as fees, this includes all the fees. This is the same for students of every category and a scholarship is available for students whose family income is below 8 lakh per year, provided by the University of Delhi supposed to refund the fees of the whole year but it's very unreliable and most of the people I know including me got 1-2 thousand rupees only instead of the whole fees as promised.

Campus Life

4

There's not much campus life, the campus is very small, most of the students either hangout outside the canteen it has a mid sized sitting area and the football cum cricket cum volleyball field. It also has a good basketball court and Table Tennis room. But the crowd is very good and the societies are very active and you get lots of opportunities to go to various DU colleges for events, the societies are always hosting some or the other small fests, there are fests every few days which makes the whole college very festive, it's great, just the small campus is the only drawback. Library is good and decently equipped, though they could do much better.

Admission

I applied for other University of Delhi colleges for this same course, English Major, I put this college very high up in my preference list because the faculty of this college for English is very good and I after two years at this college, I'm confident I made the right choice. The admission process is through CUET UG examination and then CSAS counselling. You get admission in DCAC at around 600-650 marks for BA

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is great in some most departments but I've heard that for mathematics and computer department, it lags behind heavily. The professors are very well qualified and very helpful, they reach very well as well. In the English department, Dr. Neelam Yadav, Mrs. Renu Singh, Dr. Animesh Mohapatra and Mr. Rohit Pritam are all exceptionally good, their way of teaching and being there for the students at all the times and mentoring them is a blessing, you should blindly chose this college if this is your priority, just like I did.

Night Life

1

There is no nightlife in or around the college campus, the college is located in a very high security area, though there are lots of open spaces and trees around but the college needs to be emptied by 6 PM max, by 3-4 PM you stop seeing many people, it gets mostly empty. There are Headquarters of Defense, Air Force and Navy very close to the college, there's also CGHS Head Office and apartments for high officials, hence the need for the college to be emptied by 6 PM and no fests or loud music allowed after that time.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.

The median package offered to UG was 6 lakhs per annum, Top 9 students were offered a median salary of 9,00,000 per annum. Around 490 were placed From campus placements of the college out of 1300 students eligible For the placements, These are only approximate figures and not exact. The highest package offered from the college is around 14,00,000 per annum. Talking about my plans after getting the degree is going for highest studies, Either Masters in economics or MBA in business economics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .

I would say the placement opportunities are more available for science , commerce background students in the college there are rarely any placement opportunities for humanities background students . Mostly students starts engaging in placement in the fifth semester .severky companies visited campus every year including Deloitte , EY.TCS etc . Around 40 - 50 percent students from professional courses get the placement annually .even for the students not opting for placement the exposure n the strong alumni network of college help them secure good opportunities outside campus
