Likes
- The professors are extremely experienced and great at teaching, they’re cooperating, kind and helpful. As and when you need any help, they are available. Further, everyone is assigned a professor as a mentor from their dep. who we can reach out to.
- The infrastructure is really good, we have adequate classrooms, labs and so on. These have air conditioners and all required facilities for teaching. Moreover, it caters to all including children with special needs and is extremely inclusive.
- Multiple extracurricular opportunities are available to all students, these are in form of societies, conferences, training sessions, camps and so on. The college focuses on holistic development of all rather than simply one dimensional growth.
Dislikes
- Sometimes administrative work can be slow and cumbersome.
Course Curriculum Overview
Economics honours is an academically rigorous course, however, it is extremely logical and practical. There are wise ranging options for a career pathway post economics which makes it a safe yet versatile and rewarding course. It is definitely math intensive, however, with the right understanding, it is manageable.
Internships Opportunities
Multiple internship opportunities are available. These are coordinated by the Placement Cell as well as The Internship Cell. Reputed companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain, DE Shaw among many others carry out interviews and take interns for all years. Multiple roles are offered based on courses of the candidates, associates, and analysts being major of these.
Placement Experience
Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The current fees is around ?32,000, this includes all college related charges and are paid together at the beginning of the year. There are multiple need and merit based scholarships available which may be accessed post admission. The fee is not currently increasing.
Campus Life
We have a very vibrant on campus life, with multiple societies, events, celebrations happening throughout the year, We have global societies such as 180DC and Enactus also on campus. During different festivals, multiple festivities and celebrations also take place on campus. We have a huge library, with all required facilities.
Admission
For all colleges of the Delhi University, applicants are accessed on the basis of the Common University Enteance Test, the CUET. There are no other parameters except for this, no interview, GD or anything else. Other colleges like Ashoka, have these other parameters including an extensive application, interviews, and so on. I chose Hansraj over Ashoka given the reputation of Hansraj, especially for Economics, as well as it being close to my home.
Faculty
We have around 80 students in each section. Most professors are absolutely amazing, masters of their subject, they know how to connect with students and teach really well. We have each core paper of 160 marks, for which we have a 90 mark endsem exam, while 70 marks are based on internal marks given by the professors. Exams are usually simple and doable. Most students pass with good marks.
Night Life
Given our college is in northcampus, it is part of a vibrant campus life. We have the Kamla nagar market right next to our college along with Hudson Lane close by. There are multiple famous food and beverage places all around which are loved by students. Everything is close by and very accessible. Most of it is affordable as well.
